i found this stem of clover in a puddle. it’s a reminder that simple things can be elegant, beautiful, and even poignant. it’s also a reminder to pause. there’s no need to “do it all.” there’s no urgency. in this moment, there’s space to breathe and be.

This Pride of Barbados has attracted so many creatures to it. As the sun goes down in the late afternoon I get about 30 minutes before the buildings block the sunlight.

The campus is still empty now but in another month there will be students again and these opportunities may become less available.

My heart goes out to everyone in the United Kingdom and all the commonwealths.

As a transplanted Scouser living in Canada brought up British, i always had the highest regard and respect for the monarchy, especially the Queen…. If i didn’t me mum would knock me about.

En juin 2021, Megève semble être en pause avant la saison estivale.

Pas tout à fait désertée, juste arpentée par certains touristes et les habitants.

June 2021, Megève seems to be on a break before the summer season.

Not quite deserted, just surveyed by some tourists and locals.

After a night of massive thunderstorms, this morning brought news of an horrendous accident on our local rail link to Glasgow. So a small offering here for all those caught up in both the devastating rail crash and the local flooding. As Aberdeen begins a second week of lockdown, Aberdeenshire is feeling quite battered!

Forgive me if I don't manage to comment ... I'll be back in a day or two.

The hydrangeas from our garden were shot with the Russian Helios 44-M lens, dating from 1979.

Always a good idea! :-)

The lighthouse at Talacre has always been a great location to visit. There are so many compositions to choose from, admittedly most include a lighthouse, but the pools and the sand topography around it are always different at low tide after the waves have made their adjustments. I’m not at all impatient about this essential lockdown but it will be so nice to be able to visit it once again.

This enforced time at home has been good for the garden as I have somewhat neglected it over the last few years, taking solace in the notion of a ‘wild garden’. The nettles and brambles have loved it! So the recent weeks have seen it emerge with a ‘short back and sides’. I am so thankful that I even have a garden and I feel for those people who are not so fortunate.

The squirrels are great distributors of the acorns and I get lots of oak seedlings popping up. These would normally be pulled out, but I spotted one the other day and had the idea of the ‘Corona Oak’.

So, I dug it out, potted it up and I will nurture and train it into a ‘standard’ tree (like I know what I'm talking about) and keep it as a reminder of these difficult times that we are currently living through. This is obviously a long-term project although oak saplings will grow pretty quickly in the first few years. Maybe I will post an annual picture of it. I will attach an image of it to this ramble later.

I send my best wishes to you all. I hope that you are keeping safe and well, and coping with this difficult time, mentally as well as physically. X
