*** Centro Habana, Cuba ***

• You can admire many interesting and colorful buildings dating from the late 18th century and the 19th century in the Centro Habana district. Many are worn by time and many are undergoing renovation. But the fact remains that they are fascinating and a visit is a must ... on foot, of course!

A Black-and-white Warbler captured at Magee Marsh during the warbler migration through there this May.

There's a story behind this one. I was walking down the boardwalk when I spotted this black-and-white warbler and surprisingly it wasn't hurry-scurry, but actually paused a bit from its frenetic pace, allowing me to get some shots. After it had moved on out of sight a lady next to me signed heavily. I asked what happened and she said that her camera battery had just died and she had captured no photos at all of this lovely creature. I really felt for her but I was happy that I had several spare batteries on me, so that wasn't going to happen to me (I hoped...). So, don't let that be your story, that you weren't carrying spare batteries ;)

Happy Father's Day to all who are celebrating in Australia and New Zealand today.

I am way behind today (it will take me a while to catch up with your images), the State Premier's Covid presser was a very long one today. To my friends in Melbourne - hang in there, we will get back out in the field one day!

Slender Ringtail Damselfly (Austrolestes analis)

I am finally seeing the Damselflies in the garden. Most are very active but this one paused long enough for a photo.

During my recent sojourn in Newcastle, on the Sunday I took a bus from the city-centre to the Beamish Living Museum for my first ever visit - and immediately regretted not having made the effort to go before.

A fabulous and enthralling place to spend time not only because it brings the area's late 19th / early 20th century industrial and social history to life, but also down to the knowledge, enthusiasm and generosity of the volunteers and folk working there. Highly recommended, I'll be going back.

This shot was captured in the mining village.

26th March 2023

Wasn't going out this evening (Mon) but noticed the sky changing colour out of the window. Dashed down to the local beach just in time for another nice sunset. Just sat on a rock for half an hour thinking .
