I hunted for something to add a little color to this winter scene at Bond Falls in Paulding Michigan. I had to put my tripod as high as it would go to add these colorful maple leaves to this lovely winter scene.

Photographed this Orange Sulphur feeding on Heath Aster while waiting to photograph a train just west of Payne, Ohio.
Looks better large.
Lower Bond Falls Paulding Michigan. We had to walk a half a mile through deep snow to get to the falls. It was well worth it because we were the only people there. It looked like a glacier with all the blue ice and the water running through it. It was one of the most beautiful sights we have ever seen.

We started our Autumn trip with a visit to Bond Falls, Paulding Michigan and spent several hours taking in all of Bond Falls autumn beauty. There are so many places to view this amazing place and anyone who has a chance to go there will remember it always.
My wife and I have returned from our Autumn trip through Northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and the North Shore of Minnesota along Lake Superior. We had beautiful weather and were able to capture the beautiful autumn colors and scenes of these three beautiful states. Autumn lasts till December 21st and I think I have enough autumn scenes to last till then. I hope everyone enjoys these photos as much as we enjoyed taking them.

Amazing ice and snow formations, seemingly immovable, were perched above the roaring river heading to the bigger drop of Bond Falls. The contrasting textures and shapes were captivating. Two image panorama taken in Paulding, Michigan on Saturday, January 14, 2017.

The sound of the water rushing here at Bond Falls near Paulding Michigan was incredible. There is a boardwalk near the base of the falls and some trails going near the lower and upper falls allowing visitors to get up close and personal. A must see in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Thanks for visiting and have a great Thursday! I've been a little busy with work lately but will catch up with everyone's recent work soon. :-)

For anyone interested in slowing the water for creamy effect, this is my method for accomplishing that. You must use a tripod and have either a self timer or a cable release. Also, your camera will have to allow you to set a 1 second exposure. You do not want to expose for more than 1 second because it will wash the water out, so you’ll be using an F stop (i.e. F20 or higher) that will allow you to expose for 1 second. I also use a circular polarizer to cut down on the glare on the water. Then you might have to plus or minus 1/3 of a stop one way or the other depending on the lighting. Cloudy days are often best but sunny days can work too, as you can see in this picture. I hope this helps anyone who might want to try to achieve this effect. You might have to tweak a little with your particular situation and camera, but this method always works for me. Mike
If you would like to see more pictures with this effect I have a set called Spectacular Bond Falls.

Upper Bond Falls Paulding Michigan. To reach the upper falls you climb several flights of stairs about 100 feet above the lower falls. When you reach the upper falls there are many smaller waterfalls coming from every direction. It is a spectacular view of this awesome work of art.
