These flies are seen in white sand country. The two flies were photographed at different locations (50kms+ apart) and a week apart in 2007.
I love the patterns on the wings of these.

A super field of daisy flowers snuck up on me and easily seduced me into taking their morning portrait on a sping walk in southern California. I love those vivid colors and circle patterns and shapes that are like great abstact art. Hard ot resist for humans, inscects and yellow fans everywhere.
Three cheers for springtime.
This is my entry for the September BRC.
The rules for the PATTERN CHALLENGE are:
1) You must make an outfit that incorporates the basic elements of the pattern provided:
**** princess seam bodice
**** inset sleeves
**** do not use the color black
I was inspired by vintage lace and fabrics. I wanted a gunne sax style dress. I think it's pretty close. It has a removable ruffled collar so you may appreciate the princess seams on the bodice when removed.
Please excuse my photos. Since I was in a rush to go to work, I rushed the photo session. They came out a bit bad... like right here, her body is slightly to the right and her face is straight looking at me. :)
I had many designs in mind but this is what I came up in the last minute... I didn't have time to take photos of the many drawings that I made, or photos outside with plenty of sunshine like I usually love to do.... but anyways... here it is. Better late than never! =^____^=
Sweet and demure, this capelet adds a sprinkle of soft, innocent style to day or evening wear. Whether you desire the light touch of knit, or the body and texture of crochet, we provide instructions for creating this capelet using either technique. For knitters and crocheters alike, these instructions provide an easy method for a custom fit even if your gauge is a little off: a clever box pleat at the back of the capelet provides not only a foolproof fitting technique, but a touch of Jackie-O styling. Not only will this capelet fit like a glove, it will lend a classic refinement to any ensemble.
