I could hardly sleep so I waited for the sun to come up and hung a doily in front of the sunlight to cast this lovely shadow. I have many more that I really liked that I'll post at a later time. I've had this idea for quite sometimes, but it would be so much easier to shoot if I had a model.

These are original, unprocessed shots from my favourite "sand pattern" beach, all taken on the same day. I've given each one a title that shows what the patterns suggest to me. All patterns are completely natural, created simply by the sand and the movement of water. Nature is the real artist here.

I don't use nutmeg that often, so I always manage to forget what it looks like once you start grating them. Some of this one was used in a spinach and goats cheese puff pastry tart from this month's issue of Good Food - and very nice it was too.

Took the youngest for a look round a nursery today. He quite happily took himself off for a play, so we ended up leaving him there for a quick settling in session. After what happened at the previous nursery it was really nice to see him happy to go off. He must have enjoyed himself - he got a bit upset when I said it was time to go!

I'm having these patterns printed on "chiffon" to make furoshiki. Most pics were taken at Orto Botanico REA, with many thanks to Regione Piemonte for so beautifully taking care, and a pair in my garden in July 2009. Pics were modified for pure fun with only the ACDSee that came with the computer... please enjoy and feel free to use them.
