When the tide is right out it can take 10 minutes to walk across the sand to the water's edge. On the way you cross many different types of surface, and the sand takes on many different patterns.

15/02/16 #1141. Cold this morning - creating this worm-like pattern of ice in a muddy puddle at Adur Rec
on our coast walk.
How I loved the changing pattern, the different footprints, the remains from the sea, to see what the tide presented at that very moment.
These Patterns spark some kind if satisfaction feel everybtime I look at them. Most of the times when I observer Patterns in the environment I always forger to bring a film camera. But once I had got it and the results turned out to be very 😌 satisfying.

No doubt a tripod makes a hell lot of difference when shooting a film. Sharpness and less motion blur = more details. Absolutely love this tip.

These bolts hold long bags in place (hanging below the plane) which are used to squeeze the last drop of sugar sap out of sugar beet chips.
had a evening out on Stradbroke Island and got a cracker of a sunset. I think the lens was about 10cm from the sand. Low enough that I got myself all sandy from getting down on the ground while composing. I found the best section of textured sand and worked it into my vertical framing. The low setting sun cast some nice shadows over the low tide sand ripples, exaggerating it's hypnotic pattern.

OK, who opened the can? A pattern of cans with an obvious mistake to break the mould. Lighting this with the studio lights was tricky as the camera was directly overhead - a ring flash might have helped - but this came pretty close to even lighting.
Thanks to Humphrey Hippo for the inspiration behind this pattern shot...and also to the Cafe at the airfield for loaning me a tray of Coke for the evening!
