Nature uses only the longest threads to weave her patterns, so that each small piece of her fabric reveals the organization of the entire tapestry.

NATURAL TEXTURE is the topic for Thursday 11 October 2012.
Lots of subjects to choose from today, but this was my final choice. The dahlias are loving the cooler weather and are lasting a lot longer into the season than normal.
The morning sun was just behind this one so it was the chosen one.
A couple of the close seconds are below in the comments section.
Pattern study for Salina Art Center. The final piece will be a large-scale painting in the Oakdale Park pool to coincide with the Smoky Hill River Festival in June 2012.

I was out snowshoeing last week and found some different impressions of my experience in this environment
Maybe this is just a tangelation of Eke, but that's not how it came about. At first I drew it according to the second alternative, using curved zig-zags. Then I noticed it could be drawn more easily with sharp loops . Anyway, I like the rhythm of the lines, and they can fill any longish shape and of course it's an obvious border pattern, too.
I think the name explains itself...
This type of marble - the "Zebra" marbling pattern is definitely my favorite! the white spots are added last after the combing is done.

Rectangular Patterns (Horizontal)” — Patterns formed by light, paing, shadows, and structure on an urban building.
This is one of a pair of photographs of the same structure. I’ll be you would not be surprised to hear that the companion photograph is called “Rectangular Pattern (Vertical).” Working on this pair got me to thinking about a series that I might call “Urban Geometries” featuring such photographs, both from my existing archives and from some new work. you can look at this as a photograph of a real scene or, if you work at it, you may be able to see it as an abstract composition of forms and colors.
The location is an area that was acquired b a (very) big company for a future expansion. And then there was a pandemic. Their plans appear to be on hold, though they still hold rights to the properties. I suspect, but do not know for certain, that they did some “sprucing up” of the area to avoid charges that they are allowing it to degrade. Right now it is largely a sort of urban dead zone… though it has mice paint.

These Patterns spark some kind if satisfaction feel everybtime I look at them. Most of the times when I observer Patterns in the environment I always forger to bring a film camera. But once I had got it and the results turned out to be very 😌 satisfying.
.
No doubt a tripod makes a hell lot of difference when shooting a film. Sharpness and less motion blur = more details. Absolutely love this tip.
