waiting to be crushed for your drinking pleasure.

Just a few patterns from the collections I've made over the past year or so. I love patterns and they way they really come to life when they're applied to something, a book cover, fabric, pottery...etc. In my book, bold and simple is better than complicated and complex - it's easier on the eye :-)

Patterns beneath our feet

The next four pattern photos were all taken in Perth city centre. I was heading in for coffee with a friend, so I left about 15 minutes early to look for some photo opps.

So, a challenge and a time constraint… and a lens constraint – only using my 14mm.

My first shot was the patterns in these cobbles. I think they are mesmerising.

I know, this has been done before. And better too. For the real stuff, take a look at Michael Wolf’s Architecture of Density series.

I like this photo because everybody wants to be Michael Wolf for a day.

Playing with natures patterns.! ( Fern leaf )

vintage transfer pattern (unknown source)

im starting to use the open source software processing (processing.org) to create images. its a lot of fun.

here i placed simple shapes randomly in a grid. this gave the starting point for all the other pictures too, cause i reused and tweaked the code from here.

the colors are randomly too.

Natural beauty

Lying on my back, just before sunrise on Sunday morning, on the Sussex Downs, trying to line up everything so it was symmetrical, I think I managed it but I'm sure someone will let me know if not! Pylons are part of the countryside scenery in some parts of the Downs.

I really like to see patterns in nature. It fascinates me. I think I was first switched on to it when I saw a film called "pi" a long time ago. Weird film, but it started an interest, which is always good.

Happy Arachtober 27th!

A rather striking abdominal pattern.
