Sketches along the lake pathway at Crystal Lake, Wisconsin ("The Northwoods") USA - Aug & Sept 2016.
After leaving the banks of the Elbow river and putting away my gear I turned around from the side of the car to see this wonderful site. Cold and tired, I debated getting the equipment out that had been so carefully stowed away. But the lines and the colors were just too attractive, out came only the essentials and off I went for one more imge.
I shot a number of frames but the one that worked best included the small shed off to the side. It seemed to balance the image edging the scale in my head back toward centre.

Cities are living, breathing organisms providing a tremendous conduit for distributing everything from life pathways to dangerous pathogens. The interconnectedness of it all, and through it each other, exposes and enriches us like no other system.
Oh lighten up everyone :) See it in large if you prefer!
Pathways. They go in every direction. I hope you find a good one that leads somewhere great.

You can't help but wonder if the rest of the pathway will lead to additional fall foliage. In the boundary waters area of northern Minnesota.
After 3 or 4 years of working out how to light stuff, I shot with Valis Volkova again - back at Pathways studio in Chester where we first worked together all those years ago. Valis is such a natural model - and this classic glamour light really carves out the cheekbones.
I had a fantastic day catching up with Valis, and Colin and we shot some epic stuff! As usual I ran out of time and there's loads more to do but that will have to wait until next year.
Went for 16:9 format for this one for a more cinematic feel. I added the width rather than cropping the height - to retain as many of the hard-won pixels as possible! (background pixels are free in Photyshop :) )

First shoot with my new 0.9 GND soft lee filter. I am very pleased with the result. I have to use the filter upside down to make it as hard edge filter.
