The wooded pathways beside the Gloriette.
Fischer von Erlach's designs had included a belvedere for Schönbrunn Hill intended as the crowning touch to the palatial Baroque ensemble, but it was not until Johann Ferdinand Hetzendorf von Hohenberg remodelled the park that this project was finally realised. The Early Classicistic colonnaded Gloriette was built to Hohenberg's designs on the crest of the hill in 1775.
The structure consists of a central section in the form of a triumphal arch, flanked by arcaded wings with lofty semi-circular arches. The central section, which was glazed during the last year of Maria Theresa's life, is crowned with a mighty imperial eagle perching on a globe and surrounded by trophies. The flat roof with its retaining balustrade was already being used as a viewing platform by the beginning of the 19th century. It can be accessed today via a stairway.

This path caught my eye while in glacier national park. I fell in love with the way the natural surroundings meshed with the man made structure.
after our journey from hell we went for a walk once we were checked in at le sous bois. we found this pathway, and were in awe at how nice it looked at the time - sleep deprivation can do odd things :)
The pathways were run along areas that had already been designated by dogs running through tall grass. A roughly three inch deep cut was made that would later be filled with decomposed granite. It was Trujillo's idea to line the paths with split and trimmed eugenia wood that would keep the DG from drifting. Each piece was carefully trimmed to prevent tripping or hose snagging.
Pathway at Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site outside of La Junta, Colorado.
Originally built in 1833 by Charles and William Bent and Ceran St. Vrain. It became one of the significant centers of fur trade on the Santa Fe Trail. Due to its location on an established road, the fort paved the way for the occupation of the west by the U.S. Army and was an instrument of Manifest Destiny and the invasion of Mexico in 1846. By 1849 the trade that made the fort prosper was deteriorating. Due to cholera William Bent supposedly tried to burn down the fort in 1849. In the early 1850s Bent constructed Bent's New Fort 40 miles downriver at Big Timbers, near present day Lamar, Colorado. The present fort was reconstructed in 1976 using archeological excavations and original sketches, paintings and diaries. It is on both the National Register of Historic Places and National Historic Landmark Lists.

A lone pathway cuts through the shallow waters, leading to out to an observatory at the Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary. 2273 protected acres (920-hectare) of islands, shallow waters and mangroves make this a haven for migratory birds from Siberia, Northern China, and Japan. There are 97 species of birds in Olango, 48 of which are migratory species, while the rest are resident birds of the island.
Olango island is located in the Philippines, near Cebu.

NINEBARK CREEK BRIDGE
Anmore, BC Canada
Buntzen Lake Loop
Hiking time: 3-4 hours for beginners; 1.5-2 hours for advanced
Distance: 9.8 km
Elevation gain: 90 m
Cumulative elevation gain: 400 m
Circle Buntzen Lake and enjoy the beautiful views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
Starting at Buntzen Creek Bridge at the east side of South Beach, the trail leads north, passing several lake access points and viewpoints. After a 20 m section on Powerhouse Road, the Buntzen Lake Trail continues down to the North Beach picnic area. From here, cross the suspension bridge to continue along the Buntzen Lake Trail or you can return on the same path for a shorter, easier hike.
After crossing the suspension bridge, the trail takes you through open areas underneath the powerline, through mature forest, across several bridges, then finally opens up onto Pumphouse Road; follow this road south to the floating bridge at the southwest arm of Buntzen Lake, cross the bridge and follow the trail back to South Beach.
