Along my usual cycling route (called the Voyageurs Pathway), near my sketchs of the 'Bike House' and 'Pavilion', you'll see this stand of trees along the Ottawa River. It's a pleasant spot to stop (as the sketches I've made there can attest), opening up to a nice panorama of the Ottawa River. As the water level on the river lowers following the spring flooding, more and more land is exposed creating a nice area for waterfowl. And as of last week, the Canada geese were all over the bike paths with their ever-growing young goslings - creating a sort of obstacle course. I was careful to avoid them but almost ran into a deer! It's really incredible to see so much natural beauty right inside an urban landscape.
Beautiful Catawba Rhododendrons line the path on the Cloudland Trail leading to the Rhododendron Gardens on Roan Mountain.
Another lovely memory of summer and warmer times, here you can see the lovely Bow River Pathway as it winds and curves through Fish Creek Park, a short walk from my house, taken on a pleasant early evening walk with Beefy last July.
You cannot really see it as much in this photo, but this entire area got absolutely trashed and very badly damaged due to the historic flooding that occurred here in Alberta at the end of June 2013, and large chunks of this pathway were completely washed away and rendered unusable.
Hope you are all having a great week; I am getting on late today as I had a very busy Thursday, lots of running around, and the fact that we got absolutely DUMPED ON with snow here in Calgary today did not help!
I submitted this photo to Ken Rockwell's Photo Contest and finished, I believe, about 200th out of around 4,000 entries. Thanks!

I liked how the bright colour and the reflected sky in the windows of this office building looked like pathways in the sky. Published in Issue 75 of DC Magazine.

The weather was still cold when we were in Oslo a few weeks ago. This is a walkable city with a small population. I saw a lonely woman walking this pathway between the two columns of trees. The scene looked so poetic especially with her lovely blue dress contrasting the green.
Nestled in the heart of Oslo, this charming old church stands as a serene focal point in a leafy park. The pathway leading up to it offers a peaceful journey, inviting visitors to pause and reflect on the timeless beauty of both nature and history.
Took this a few days ago but didn't really do anything with it, decided to stick it in photoshop and play around with some curves etc. :)

Abandoned Orthodox Church, east central Alberta. I remember debating with a friend about this composition. Eventually the vertical, with the path in the grass, won out.
Another I like from last summer...I am starting to believe summer may be close! Only 3 more weeks of school and so much to do as the year comes to an end...
I just spend all evening doing lesson plans and now it is bedtime...where did the day go?
Hope I sleep tonight....last night we had a thunderstorm that lasted about 2 hours with sheet lightning. that seemed to be one after the other only minutes apart....the weather office estimates there were about 9000 strikes, leading to hundreds of hits and power outages all over the province.
