This is my favorite part of the entire Japanese Tea Gardens in Golden Gate Park. When the stones are wet, the ground looks like a river. It's ethereal.
Cook's Meadow, Yosemite, California
This tree arching over a pathway on the edge of Cook's Meadow caught my eye. Trees with fresh new leaves in the spring can often be as attractive as trees with more traditional fall colors. The far background is the southern wall of Yosemite Valley.
I took this last week at Signal Mountain Summit, Teton National Park, Wyoming. Single exposure.
No artificial lighting (light painting) is allowed in Grand Teton NP, but you can use your headlamp to get safely to your shooting location (as well as operational camera lights). Once at this spot I turned off my Petzl Actik Core (350 lumens) headlamp and went to it’s super weak 5 lumens “Max Autonomy” position for this exposure (it actually puts out less light than that silly red exposure indicator light on the back of my Canon camera!).

At times pathways / will be chosen, / as these were laid down / by predecessors and ancestors / in an evident logic.

"Pathway to Paradise"
On day 4 of my Zion Fall Color Trip, I headed into the famous Virgin River Narrows at first light. Because the water was cold, I wore dry pants and thick neoprene socks, which worked very well to keep my legs dry and my feet warm for the entire day of hiking in the water. In all, I spent nearly 10 hours in the Narrows that day, and as always the time flew by in this majestic and awe-inspiring place.
This classic scene was my second to last image made that day. I had run out of Velvia, so I made the exposure on 4x5" Kodak Ektar 100 color negative film. The exposure was 1 minute & 8 seconds @ ƒ/45 with a CPL on my Intrepid 4x5" large format view camera.
This was a very tricky negative to scan, but the final result is an incredibly sharp, massive-resolution image filled with rich detail and color tones that could be printed to 40x50 inches at 300dpi (you could stick your nose right up to it and only see more image details and fine film grain, not pixels).

The pathway leading up to the front door of our building. This is probably the average height of a lot of the drifts around here. We walked through some that were a bit taller, too.
