Pathfinders pack a punch as first in for Global Response Force.
The reconnaissance troops who are first in for the British Army’s Global Response Force have tested their firepower on the windswept STANTA Ranges in Norfolk.
The Pathfinders are the advance force for 16 Air Assault Brigade Combat Team, trained to infiltrate behind enemy lines to find and relay vital information back to assist mission planning.
A key role is identifying drop zones and landing zones where the main body of troops can be parachuted or landed by helicopter.
Pathfinders work in small, self-sufficient patrols, either in vehicles or on foot. While operating with-out being spotted provides their best defence, troops need the firepower to get themselves out of trouble.

Out on the ranges last week (24-28 Jan), troops practised fire and manoeuvre tactics in their RWMIK patrol vehicles, which are mounted with Heavy Machine Guns and Grenade Machine Guns. Soldiers also fired the potent and precise NLAW anti-tank missile.

To increase effectiveness in low-intensity conflicts and urban environments the 2A8cE can be equipped with mine- and road-clearing equipment. In addition a second, light RWS armed with an MG4 is mounted on the turret and operated by the gunner.
Class 52 1001 Western Pathfinder had arrived with the 14:05 from London Paddington and is now running down platform 4 heading for platform 1 to form the 18:25 back to Paddington. On Keats Island, Pathfinder is most common in patches lining the trails. The dark green leaves reveal gleaming silver undersides when turned over, allowing a hiker to retrace their steps, following the silver like a trail of breadcrumbs. The tiny flowers unfurled by the plants are only a few millimetres wide, and produce tiny fruits studded with sticky glands, perfect for hitching a ride on passing animals, aiding their dispersal through the forest.
The structure that arrived at NASA Goddard in July 2014 from Northrop Grumman is the center section of the James Webb Space Telescope pathfinder (or test) backplane. Here it is at Northrop Grumman before shipment, shown with the secondary mirror booms fully extended. If you can imagine this structure upright, the primary mirror segments would lie on the latticed part of the struture - and the secondary mirror would sit at the end of the long booms.
The structure is at NASA Goddard so that spare mirrors can be mounted on it. Then it will go to NASA Johnson for cryogenic testing.

As mentioned in the previous shot, this is the label attached to the wardrobe trunk. I've had a look on the tinternet to try and get an idea of its age, but to no avail. Needless to say, it looked as if it had been round the globe a few times!! .
The Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX) telescope — captured in this dramatic image taken by ESO Photo Ambassador Babak Tafreshi — is one of the tools used by ESO to peer beyond the realm of visible light. It is located on the Chajnantor Plateau at an altitude of 5000 metres.

The Pathfinders were a Rebel SpecForce branch whose specialization was the recon and scouting of unknown terrain; their focus on these missions made them excellent scouts.
Found the pathfinder icon on Abduzeedo website as a quick tutorial. Pleased by the design i made my own version of the 2D icon and some special 3D model as bonus.
to make a comparison i put the original designed icon by Hicksdesign.

As close to Minifig scale as I could get it. I'll be getting custom stickers later to ad the JPL signage and some Solar Panel details.

week 26 – Outdoor – Water (Long exposure)
Pathfinder Dam, Casper WY
This is a second submittal for the photochallenge this week. Although it is a marginal long exposure (1/20 sec), I felt it was worth uploading since it was shot with what I had:
- a pocketable camera (Sony RX-100)
- my wife's sunglasses over the lens to act as a ND filter
- color corrected in post (due to the brown tint of the sunglasses) by using the foreground rock as gray

As Ashlee calculates an FTL jump, she detects a closing unknown contact ... it's Avatron looking to gather intelligence on Novetron and sell it to the highest bidder.
Having no time to play games or await Space Police assistance, Ashlee directs Jack to deploy and fire Pathfinder's unrivaled primary weapon -- vectored Electro Magnetic Pulse globules. In the cargo bay, Zed raises his head to see what the fuss is.
On the Avatron Phantom, Merc is shocked with across-the-board system failures, leaving him with only enough power for life support. This Novetron "back off" lesson will give him some intelligence to think about while radioed Space Police units converge on his adrift starship.

Rare glimpse into the mouth of a C-5 Charlie military transport plane, the largest cargo plane in the U.S. fleet, which was designed to carry tanks, just before STTARS (the Space Telescope Transporter for Air Road and Sea) was loaded for transport from Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, to Houston.
STTARS was carrying the pathfinder (or test) backplane of the James Webb Space Telescope, which was headed to NASA Johnson for cryogenic tests. This backplane, which is like the spine of the telescope and supports the mirrors and instrument module, has two test primary mirrors and a test secondary mirror mounted to it.

The Pathfinder, a non-flight replica of NASA's James Webb Space Telescope sits in what appears to be a throne room at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. The room is actually a giant test chamber called "Chamber-A", a thermal vacuum testing chamber famous for being used during Apollo missions has now been upgraded and remodeled to accommodate testing the James Webb Space Telescope. Technicians are readying the Pathfinder for testing.
