I love the way this tree looms over woodland path, it's branches dangling to catch the unwary. A few autumn leaves clinging to one branch, the rest still to turn. Taken in Little Wittenham Wood.
The path is actually Sun Vally Circle..

This path runs along the top of the North Downs, near Woldingham in Surrey. Some great views towards Brighton are to be had in the less wooded stretches.
A difficult image to process, either in bw or colour, as everything is pretty much the same. All the stones have the same colour and the few plants on the edge of the path don't make much difference. Still, I love that little part of Aldeia Da Cuada, the narrow path winding between the cozy looking cottages. I always get a feeling of safety when I look at this scene.
I have been back to this woods 5 times now to try and catch the Wild Garlic Alium flowers in full bloom and in good conditions. Sadly we haven't had the mist or light to show them at their best during my visits. But there is still time yet.
I was pretty devastated though on this mornings visit as I had a shot I wanted to take deep in the woods of a tree festooned with the Garlic flowers with a wonderful backdrop of these aromatic plants. But as soon as I got to the woods you could see that someone had been in with a tractor and had churned up all the plants in that area. When I got to the spot I had recce'd for the shot of the fallen tree, I saw that it had been chainsawed into sections and removed leaving a real mess!
I may give it one last go here if we get some fog or mist in the next week, otherwise this is the best I can do for this year here!
I did think long and hard about leaving the log in this shot, as it either adds to the image or detracts from it, which ever way you see it, but in the end I left it in!
On Our Own Path
The path taken by the crowd might be safe, but Max and I have always loved carving our own trail. This is exactly what the Turkish idiom "Herkes gider Mersin'e, biz gideriz tersine" (Everyone goes to Mersin, we go the opposite way) is all about.
I asked Max, "Should we head to Mersin?" and he simply replied, "The opposite way!" Because the most beautiful views are always found by those who dare to deviate from the main road. 🐕🐾🌿
(Note: "Going to Mersin vs. going the opposite way" is a Turkish idiom that describes choosing the unconventional path and doing things differently from everyone else.)
Shot this on New Year's day along the Whitegate Way in Cheshire.. Not the best of light - but quite liked the vanishing point (and the far off people)...
Hope everyone's having a great week...
I have to share this story. Ron (my fiance) was on a photo walk with me. I looked over my shoulder at this path and said that I really liked the look of it, but I wished someone was walking on it. Ron said it would be great if a deer was walking on it. Two seconds later four deer appeared on the path!! It was so shocking and exciting that I panicked a little, so the shots didn't come out as good as I would have hoped, but it so such a wonderful moment.
