Our next tank, and the custom stand that's being built for it. It's almost done, just needs a little more bracing and cutting and stain and finish. With human (the guy who's building it) for scale.

I'm not quite sure how I got myself into this. Well, it went something like this: we have a 54 gallon bowfront corner tank now, it's a little over 5 years old. I recently noticed that the stand (made by Oceanic) -- which is basically made of glorified particleboard -- is starting to show a lot of water damage. For now cosmetic, but I'm very concerned about it becoming structural. So we started looking for new stands. Our tank is a strangely shaped one -- a quarter of a circle from above, it only has three sides -- which we got when we lived in an apartment where we couldn't fit a more normally shaped tank. And now, looking at replacement stands, we found that the only real option (for fitting all our stuff in) was a custom stand, and because it's a strange shaped tank custom stands are absurdly expensive. I made the mistake of saying "for that we could buy a whole new more normally shaped tank and stand." And Amy really liked that idea . . .

Outside of Huntsville, very strange place. Most of the stuff is just left out to the elements, so most glass pieces were full of water, books had gotten wet, electronics were probably ruined, particleboard pieces had nearly exploded and disintegrated, etc. "Does it Worth?"

The material and texture I need to replicate for smooth movement.

None of my original laminate samples worked very well, so I'm trying even more textures.

This building on Gresham street in Pacific Beach has been empty for quite awhile...yesterday i noticed this grafic art...I wonder if more is to come ? ( as there is more room on the canvas )

We will see...I like it so far ;-))

I am working on my office/craft room space. I started with a dark green ceiling, green walls, and nasty carpet. I tore out the carpet, the particleboard underneath, and exposed the original hardwood floors. Painted everything white to cover any lead paint (our house was built in the early 1900's).

Now am starting to paint a "rug" on the floor, and used an old white twin sheet to make curtains. Painted curtains with some acrylic red paint and an upside-down movie theater cup.

Our dog, so far, approves.

Just a reposting of the first MoTangle. Just realized that I did not have the finale picture posted.

Particle-board with green and red lines outside a shop that's being renovated. Seen on my morning walk.

Finally able to replace the sagging, warping, leaning particleboard storage drawers that held my doll cloth. Looking in thrift stores was pointless, since there was no easy way to get anything large home, but, hey, shopping out of the neighbors' garage works... It had been across-the-road Mom's teenage dresser; the scuffs went away with the aid of a Mr Clean Magic Eraser (who else loves those things?), and all of the obvious scrapes and chips were covered well with miniatures paint with color names involving the word 'bone.' This dresser is probably the heaviest piece of furniture I've ever owned...and now it makes the file cabinet look out of place. Should I paint the file cabinet (again)?

The murals that were painted on the particleboard that covered broken windows and protected unbroken windows in downtown Kalamazoo were displayed in the Arcadia Creek Festival Place along North Edwards Street.

The particleboard was put up after a night of violence in downtown Kalamazoo left broken windows on many businesses on Tuesday, June 2, 2020; the murals were painted by local artists the following Saturday.

this is one of the poster/advertising boards up near my store. they start out as blank particle board and within minutes they're covered in posters, stickers, postcards ... i guarantee it will be changing hourly as people put up more and more stuff over the old!

Building day 3:

The clamping ties are installed (temporary) to help the clamps to hold the flare in the ends.

This Particleboard is not so good - I broke the clamp in the stern, next time I´ll use plywood at least for the clamps, (or make two clamps, as Mr. Petersen suggests in his book)

Our ugly 70's dark particleboard kitchen

The ugly dark cabinets are particleboard and laminate. The tiny 22x15in. cast iron sink has had a huge chip in it for several years. The fluorescent light over the sink is only 1 of two lights in the dark kitchen. The Pella casement is new, as is the GE range and microwave.

首篇文章【塑合板的疑慮~家裡到底放入多少甲醛(上)】(e-paper.epochtimes.com/SanFrancisco/20171223_1165F/F02_11...)

Two center beam cars await unloading at a home improvement store in north Benwood, WV. Earlier this week there was an additional loaded center beam car. With these loads the store has received a total of seven cars of particle board/plywood.in the last two weeks. The delivery and pickup of these cars by CSX from the Benwood Yard, happens in the early morning hours before dawn/sun rise; September 23, 2014.

My POS IKEA dresser finally exploded in a sea of cheap particleboard. Found this lovely teak dresser at a used shop down on Front Street in New Westminster.

Kids - always use pressure treated lumber, not fiber board, for your deck weather proofing.

(thanks to the fellow who inspected my house and caught warning signs of this before I bought)

New furniture (desk, corner shelf, headboard) laid out for sealing in the basement. Pressed wood is made with formaldehyde, which continually offgases for the life of the project (filling the air with toxic gases). I use a product called Safe Seal (a water-based sealant that looks like milk that is brushed on in multiple coats) on all unfinished surfaces of any particle board or pressed wood products I buy to completely enclose the "wood" in a shell. It's a pain in the ass (and not cheap), but it's better than breathing toxic gases.

particle board walls at hot topic.

roamed around the mall for a little bit after a semi "goodbye lunch" at CPK with sarah, freddy, kinsey, kylie, wesley, and becca. had a great time with all of them, and sarah's homemade brownie was delicious :)

OH YEAH MY SB-600 CAME IN TODAY!

Still have plenty of wall space for more storage, but for now I'll use it for ART!

Gonna be replacing ALL the particleboard cabinets, they really do not hold up to the beating we give 'em.
