Those strange and crazy shapes were fun to look at it at first but then once I tried to understand what they mean, and to evaluate their aesthetic and artistic merit, I started to feel indifferent and my resentment for being made to look at with these mannered creations started to mount. If the above images at least awed one with its outrageous scales, the below familiar objects were quite silly and empty, besides the occasional whimsical effects. Quite banal.

Cubofuturism informs this nonfigurative abstract expressionist composition painted on particleboard. Pioneering works of the 1910 to 1930 period were researched for their points of difference to styles promoted by the protocubists, rayonists, and vorticists. Elements of dazzle camouflage are referenced. Industrial and architectural influences are additional factors in its execution. The work thus embodies many features from recent history, updated into a contemporary context of repurposing domestic and commercial products to bring art to an environmentally aware audience. Acrylic paint was applied with rollers; masking tape delineated boundaries between sharp-focus and less-precise regions of colour field. The accent is upon beacons and other positivist markings retrospectively emblematic of a utopian vision. Set in a large body of work, this piece highlights in a geopolitical sense the arrival of Pakeha settlers to Christchurch, subsequent fracture of their legacy through cultural landscape change, and the impact of earthquakes.
The cable guide peeking out is actually a separate IKEA product, drilled in to this one, because it's plywood not particleboard and will actually hold screws without disintegrating.
Unbeknownst to us the plumbing under the sink was dripping onto the cabinet base. The particleboard swelled, forming these lumps. One day She Who Must Be Obeyed discovered the problem. A plumber fixed the leak. The lumps remain.
The dark spot at left is the iPhone equivalent of a speck of dust on a camera's sensor (I think). It went away after a few weeks.
The murals that were painted on the particleboard that covered broken windows and protected unbroken windows in downtown Kalamazoo were displayed in the Arcadia Creek Festival Place along North Edwards Street.
The particleboard was put up after a night of violence in downtown Kalamazoo left broken windows on many businesses on Tuesday, June 2, 2020; the murals were painted by local artists the following Saturday.

Eidsborg Stave Church (Norwegian: Eidsborg stavkirke) is a stave church in Tokke, Telemark county, Norway.

The church is estimated to date to between 1250-1300. The church is dedicated to the traveler’s patron, St. Nicholas of Bari. It was partly reconstructed in the 19th century. The chorus was demolished in 1826. The new choir dates to the period 1845-50. The reconstruction work did not affect the structure or the shape of the church. I still need to make a cover for the exposed particleboard on the side (or make a bigger quilt.
