Parents of Robert Costall, age 22 when he was killed as a Canadian soldier in Afghanistan.
At the time, Prime Minister Stephen Harper said the following: "Private Costall died while participating in our mission to bring democracy and stability to the war torn country of Afghanistan. His sacrifice, for which we are deeply grateful, will be remembered."
And, in Gibsons every year, it is.

Area I expecting and new parents meet at the Camp Casey Community Activity Center June 2, 2012, for a Baby Shower. Various garrison activities had boothes where they passed out information. The Heidelberg Middle School Parent Teacher Student Association hosted a “Pastries for Parents” event Jan. 14. The focus of the session was how modern communication media is taking an even larger role in the lives of today’s student. While most parents remember chatting with their friends on their house phone, today’s student is likely to have a cell phone and access to one or more computers. Their world consists of instant messaging, online gaming, webcams and sites like Facebook and MySpace. Visiting Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Newark, Ohio with my parents while I was in town for a wedding. A lot of old, interesting graves, and a lot of names that I recognize from around town. A lot of Newark's major families from the second half of the 19th and the first half of the 20th Centuries are there.
