Camera set for parameter 2 which includes vivid colour and slight sharpening. The lens is an old L lens (the f4 version.. I also own the f2.8 version but it's heavy).. I've dug some old work gear out to try it before trading it in.. so I'm playing.
Post processing (adding the border) in Picasa. File size lowered for flickr in PSE 5.0.

(Es). Historia: Cabo Vidio. Asturias. España. Nos levantamos pronto esa mañana en San Juan. Recogimos las cámaras y nos fuimos al Cabo Vidio, a unos 20 Km. Hacía viento y las gaviotas prácticamente volaban de lado. El cielo cubierto con algunas zonas de nubes rasgadas que dejaban llegar al agua una luz intensa de largos reflejos plateados.
Toma: Al pié del acantilado del cabo. El viento complicaba la toma porque las gaviotas se movían muy deprisa y la velocidad lenta de disparo las podía dejar difuminadas. Al poco tiempo el viento amainó y permitió hacer esta toma con la gaviota más estable y quieta.
Tratamiento: Con Aperture. Original en JPG con mejora básica de Aperture. El objetivo final era remarcar las líneas luminosas del reflejo de la luz en el mar y el reflejo de la luz en la punta del ala de la gaviota. Al resto le quería quitar importancia. Tiene un ligero aumento de la definición y del punto negro. La imagen original tiene el histograma con la cuarta parte de izquierda totalmente sin datos ya que la toma está hecha en un día de bruma que se iluminaba por la luz solar; ello daba un aspecto pálido general. Para conseguir el efecto deseado, tanto en el canal de Luminancia como en el de RGB, llevé el extremo del histograma hasta que toda esa cuarta parte izquierda quedó excluida. Así se consiguió ese aspecto oscuro y dramático.

(En). The History: Cabo Vidio. Asturias. Spain. We get up soon this morning in San Juan. We gathered the cameras and went away to the Cap Vidio, to approximately 20 km. It was windy and the gulls practically were flying of side. The sky covered with some zones of torn clouds that were stopping came to the water an intense light of long silver reflections.
Taking up: To I peeped of the cliff of the cap. The wind was complicating the capture because the gulls were moving very fast and the slow speed of shot could make them blurred. To a little time the wind subsided and allowed to do this capture with the stablest and still gull.
Treatment: With Aperture. Original JPG with Aperture Basic improving. The final aim was to notice the luminous lines of the reflection of the light in the sea and the reflection of the light in the top of the wing of the gull. To the rest it wanted to take less importance. It has a light increase of the definition and of the black point. The original image has the histogram with the fourth part of left side totally without information since the capture is done in a day of haze that was illuminated by the solar light; it was giving a pale general aspect. To obtain the wished effect, so much in the channel of Luminance as in that of RGB, I took the end of the histogram until all this fourth left part remained excluded. This way there was obtained this dark and dramatic aspect.

(Fr). Histoire: Cabo Vidio. Asturias. L'Espagne. Nous nous levons tôt ce matin au San Juan. Nous avons repris les chambres et nous sommes partis au Cape Vidio, à environ 20 kms. Il faisait du vent et les mouettes volaient pratiquement d'un côté. Le ciel couvert de quelques zones de nuages déchirés qui laissaient arriver à l'eau une lumière intense de longs reflets argentés.
Prendre: À j'ai piaillé de la falaise du cape. Le vent compliquait la prise parce que les mouettes se mouvaient très vite et la vitesse lente de décharge pouvait les laisser estompées. À un peu de temps le vent s'est calmé et a permis de faire cette prise avec la mouette la plus stable et tranquille.
Traitment: Avec Aperture. Origine amélioration JPG d'Aperture base.L'objectif une ère finale remarquer les lignes lumineuses du reflet de la lumière dans la mer et le reflet de la lumière dans la pointe de l'aile de la mouette. Au reste il voulait lui retirer une importance. Il a une légère augmentation de la définition et du point noir. L'image originale a l'histogramme avec la quatrième partie de gauche totalement sans des données puisque la prise est faite dans un jour de la brume qui s'éclairait par la lumière solaire; cela donnait un aspect pâle général. Pour obtenir l'effet désiré, tant sur le canal de Luminance comme dans celui-là de RGB, j'ai porté l'extrémité de l'histogramme jusqu'à ce que toute cette quatrième partie gauche est restée exclue. Ainsi cet aspect obscur et dramatique a été obtenu.
Voilà, c'est tout!

(Es). Historia: San Juan de la Arena. Asturias. Otra mañana de salida temprana. El sol lo encuentro de cara cuando voy hasta el fondo de la playa. Fray siempre delante, como todo individuo dominante.
Toma: El sol acaba de salir y se presenta de cara; producía un reflejo anaranjado sobre la arena grisácea. También sobre el resto de la atmósfera. Dudo entre dejar a Fray a la izquierda de la imagen ya que la ruta que traza va de izquierda a derecha; pero finalmente opto por la otra posición. Prefiero dejar una imagen que indique el rastro que lleva, sus huellas trazan una línea ligeramente ascendente desde la izquierda. Ya no dudo más, lo coloco a la derecha y rompo reglas.
Tratamiento: Con Aperture. Original en RAW. Mejora básica del RAW con los parámetros predefinidos de Aperture. Ligero aumento de la definición para dar cuerpo sólido a la arena. Modifico luces para no tener tan oscuro el cuerpo de Fray. No modifico el encuadre.

(En). The History: San Juan de la Arena. Asturias. Spain. Another morning of early exit.I find the sun of face when I go up to the bottom of the beach. Fray always ahead, as every dominant individual.
Taking up: The Sun has just gone out and appears of face; it was producing an orange reflection on the greyish sand. Also on the rest of the atmosphere. I doubt between leaving Fray to the left of the image since the route that it plans goes from left side to right; but finally I choose for another position. I prefer leaving an image that indicates the track that goes, his fingerprints plan a line lightly ascending from the left side. Already I do not doubt any more, place it to the right and break rules.
Treatment: With Aperture. Original in RAW. Basic improvement of the RAW with Aperture's preset parameters. Light increase of the definition to give solid body to the sand. I modify lights not to have the Monk's body so dark. I do not modify the frame.

(Es). Historia: León. España. El mercado medieval de León se estaba comenzando a preparar para la noche. Los mercaderes estaban afanados en la puesta a punto de las comidas que venderían en unas horas; las cocinas estaban trabajando a buen ritmo. El humo de la leña inundaba todo el ambiente y casi todos acelerábamos el paso cuando estábamos cerca porque la ropa terminaría tomando el olor a humo.
Toma: Me alejé un poco de la zona de paso y esperé a que la escena tuviera pocas personas, de forma que pudiera tomar importancia el ambiente creado por el humo. Hubo un momento en que sólo se acercaba a mi posición una chica y, al mismo tiempo, en el fondo quedaba poca gente. El contraluz daba la oportunidad de dejar en el anonimato a la chica; el humo hacía lo mismo con las personas del fondo.
Tratamiento: Con Aperture. Original en JPG con mejora básica de Aperture. Perseguía una escena en la que el ambiente de humo y color del alrededor tuviera un fuerte contraste con los objetos a contraluz. Para ello, además de lo que ya había en el original de la escena, modifiqué el histograma de manera que la parte izquierda tuviera mayor número de puntos negros; esto hacía las zonas oscuras mucho más sólidas. La definición está elevada al máximo para da mayor cuerpo al humo. Para obtener un tono más azulado del humo tuve que elevar la vibración de color al máximo, pero no la saturación que no se modificó.

(En). The History: León. Spain. León's medieval market began to prepare for the night. The merchants were pressed in the adjustment of the eaten ones that would sell at a few hours; the kitchens were working to good rythm. The smoke of the fuelwood was flooding the whole environment and almost we all were going faster when we were nearby because the clothes would end up by taking the smell of smoke.
Taking up: I moved away a bit from the zone of step and hoped that the scene had few persons, so that importance could take the environment created by the smoke. There was a moment in which only a girl was approaching my position and, at the same time, in the bottom few people were remaining. The backlight was giving the opportunity to leave in the anonymity the girl; the smoke was doing the same thing with the persons of the bottom.
Treatment: With Aperture. Original RAW with Aperture Basic improving. It was chasing a scene in which the environment of smoke and color of around had a strong contrast with the objects to backlight. For it, besides what already it had in the original one of the scene, I modified the histogram so that the left part had major number of black points; this was doing the much more solid dark zones. The definition is raised to the maximum for it gives more body to the smoke. To obtain a more bluish tone of the smoke I had to raise the vibration of color to the maximum, but not the saturation that was not modified.

(Fr). Histoire: León. L'Espagne. Le marché médiéval de León était commencé à préparer pour la nuit. Les marchands étaient travaillés dur dans la mise sur le point de la nourriture qui vendrait à quelques heures; les cuisines travaillaient à un bon rythme. La fumée du bois de chauffage inondait toute l'atmosphère et presque tous accélérions le pas quand nous étions près parce que les vêtements finiraient par prendre l'odeur de la fumée.
Prendre: Je me suis éloigné un peu de la zone de pas et ai attendu que la scène avait peu de personnes, de façon à ce que l'atmosphère créée par la fumée pût prendre importance. Il y a un moment dans que seulement une fille se rapprochait de ma position et, en même temps, dans le fond peu de gens restaient. Le backlight donnait l'opportunité de laisser dans l'anonymat la fille; la fumée faisait le même avec les personnes du fond.
Traitement: Avec Aperture. Origine amélioration RAW d'Aperture base. Il poursuivait une scène dans laquelle l'atmosphère de fumée et de couleur d'autour avait un fort contraste avec les objets à un contre-lumiere. Pour cela, en plus de qu'il y avait déjà dans l'original de la scène, j'ai modifié l'histogramme de façon à ce que la partie gauche eût un plus grand nombre de points noirs; cela faisait les zones obscures beaucoup plus solides. La définition est élevée au maximum pour il donne un plus grand corps à la fumée. Pour obtenir un ton plus bleuté de la fumée j'ai eu à élever la vibration de couleur au maximum, mais non la saturation qui n'a pas été modifiée.
Voilà, c'est tout!
