The parameters of a fluvial system (i.e., a river) fluctuate: when the water level is higher and this gravel is submerged, this would be the riverbed rather than the exposed shoreline shown here.
Note the well developed rounding of the gravel stones (clasts), the result of repeated abrasion during transport (rolling forward, downstream) by strong water currents. The composition of the clasts, grey limestone and well layered sandstone (or quartzite), reflects the source area to the west, the Rocky Mountains, where Paleozoic carbonate rocks (limestones, dolomites) and Late Proterozoic to Paleozoic sandstone/quartzite are abundantly exposed.
(I worked as a geologist for decades and have known this sort of sedimentary subject matter for 40 years - to write this caption I did not have to look anything up on Wikipedia or other info sources.)

Soooo strange - many times i do shots and i don´t like the first try but i store it anyhow - then i try 15 other ways of processing the same3 photos but if i go back to my first attempt done in a hurry its the best of them all so DONT throw away the first impression of your work because many times that is the original FEELING that is sitting right there.
Good luck

This is based a rather more coherent set of parameters by
mario837 on Deviant Art. He inturn credits someone else for the original parameters. I like the emergent mechanical forms congealing from the relative chaos of the background. I have some more that I sill show you soon. I have been remiss in posting the parameters and will try to do better, but, alas, most of them are lost after a computer crash and a backup that refuses to recognize its own files.

Handmade, mohair.
No real artistic merit, just a casual snap to demonstrate the feature. Indoors shot with iPhone 11 Pro Max in Portrait Mode (52mm), normal indoor LED lighting in the evening.
Where I chose to focus and how much headroom will affect the bokeh simulation. In-phone editing software, adjustable parameters include Black Point, Definition and Keystone in addition to various normal parameters but all are global in nature only. The range of edits we can do is a fair bit more than what we get from in-cam editing of current ILCs of any brand.
By tapping the screen or on each control during edit, I can review the before vs after edit effect(s) and adjust accordingly. Even after I’ve saved the edits, I can still choose to Revert to the original. Shadow lifting is rather good given such a tiny sensor, likely due to the large amount of data captured thanks to Deep Fusion stacking?
What I do find impressive is I can change Lighting and Aperture post shot. This shot was taken with Studio Lighting selected, auto Aperture was at f4.5 but post shot I changed it to f1.4 for more background blur.
The f-stop is just a bokeh/DOF simulation as I can narrow or widen the f-stop post shot from f1.4 to f16. It is of course not perfect and can get confused but it’ll undoubtedly get much better in future versions. By being perfect I meant absence of obvious mistakes, not esoteric arguments such as smoothness/falloff of transition zone. Bokeh balls are also decently simulated.
What is natural looking bokeh is afterall a specious argument since our eyes don’t see bokeh on their own. Attractive bokeh however is fundamentally about deemphasized background to allow the subject to stand out. With sophisticated 3-D ToF sensors and algorithms, perhaps one day the expensive and bulky fast Prime lenses will become obsolete and maybe even expensive APO Primes as well. As Night mode gets better, fast lenses for low light will also be unnecessary.
It may take a while yet to get there for serious photogs but for casual snappers, this is already good enough. I won’t be giving up my FE 85mm f1.4 GM anytime soon for instance but I’m now disinclined to plonk down too much $ for exotic Primes. Perhaps one day even f4.0 ILC zooms is good enough to simulate f1.2 bokeh with ToF sensor embeded. The silly ergonomics chant of Nikon fanbois influencers, the best ergonomics is in fact the slippery eel form factor of smartphones simply because it can easily fit into our pockets like no other camera can!
Ultimately, the smartphone does not even need to be as good as a proper camera. For the majority of the casual snap shooters, the latest high-end smartphones are already more than sufficient.

This was taken before opening hours on a Sunday morning. Some basic parameters for the structure were dictated by the 4.25-acre trapezoidal site, the building restrictions for the National Mall, and an active creek bed flowing below the site. These challenges were addressed initially by the design team of GBQC and Douglas Cardinal, Ltd., which included consultants Douglas Cardinal (Blackfoot), Johnpaul Jones (Cherokee/Choctaw), Donna House (Diné/Oneida), and Ramona Sakiestewa (Hopi).
The National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) building’s distinctive curvilinear form, evoking a wind-sculpted rock formation, grew out of this early work, forming the basis for the architecture. Following this conceptual design work, the project was further developed by Jones, House, and Sakiestewa, along with the architecture firms Jones & Jones, SmithGroup in collaboration with Lou Weller (Caddo) and the Native American Design Collaborative, and Polshek Partnership Architects. This extended collaboration resulted in a building and site rich with imagery, connections to the earth, and layers of meaning. The building is aligned perfectly to the cardinal directions and the centre point of the Capitol dome, and filled with details, colours, and textures that reflect the Native universe.
The NMAI recognises the importance of indigenous peoples’ connection to the land; the grounds surrounding the building are considered an extension of the building and a vital part of the museum as a whole. By recalling the natural environment that existed prior to European contact, the museum’s landscape design embodies a theme that runs central to the NMAI - that of returning to a Native place. Four hundred years ago, the Chesapeake Bay region abounded in forests, wetlands, meadows, and Algonquian peoples’ croplands. The NMAI restores these environments and is home to more than 27,000 trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants representing 145 species.

(Es). Historia: Valdorria.
The History: Valdorria. León. Spain. The views of the valley Valdorria take a different look with fog. A few meters down from the Hermitage of San Froilan, there is a bend in the road that can get away slightly from the path of return to Valdorria and look out over the valley. In the background the sound of the stream that ending just heard, a few hundred meters later in Nocedo Waterfall. A beautiful gray day.
Taking up: Miguel overlooks the valley and, at that time, is testing different planes of the valley. Fray, as good Alfa insists meddle in everything that is cooked and, if possible, on the frontline. I entertained in other previous planes arrived late on the scene and find them both facing the valley. I see both looking to the valley floor, playing each will have different interests in view. I take the time and make the shot. A few seconds later, Fray disappears from the place and the scene fades forever.
Treatment: With Lightroom. Original in RAW. The frame define it as panoramic. Modify the different zones of lights to mark more fog and rocks. Slightly increase color saturation because the softness of light colors too masked lichens and tones of rocks.
That's all folks !!
(Fr). Histoire: Valdoriia. León. L'Espagne.
