This time of year there are often winds, waves, and patches of fog on Lake Michigan. The two b&w photos that I'm posting today reflect those times.
A few more recent people-watching shots taken while strolling along the promenade and beach at Portobello, Edinburgh's seafront.
Portal activated and opened, phase two completed.

Niki de Saint Phalle's Buddha (2000) is a vibrant sculpture located at Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Standing over three meters tall, it depicts a seated figure adorned with brightly coloured mosaic tiles, a technique inspired by Antoni GaudÃ-. This work exemplifies Saint Phalle's signature style, merging art and functionality, as the sculpture includes a seat at the back, blurring the line between artwork and usable object.
Saint Phalle began creating figurative works in the mid-1960s, notably her iconic "Nana" figures, which celebrated the female form and paralleled modern feminist efforts to reconsider and revalue the female body. Her use of mosaic surfaces was inspired by GaudÃ-'s technique of applying broken ceramic tiles, as seen in Buddha.
Brett and I both had the idea to shoot reflection portraits after all the rain yesterday. The fog was even better...This was easily the best night of shooting ever. Thanks to Brett for putting up with posing so much.
I'm excited about the rest of this shoot, so consider this the first installment of the "cute girl with an umbrella in Detroit" series. :)
Late evening on the Southdowns, Ditchling
Not terribly sure about this one with the all the shadow but quite liked the lines and the subtle lighting. As always, constructive criticism is most welcome.
Captured a few weeks back down at the pumping jetty, normally a sunrise location , but fancied a shot of it at sunset, a big sky beckoned that arvo so headed down, had some great clouds and a splash of colour so it worked out pretty well in the end.
Mind you the sunset to the west that night was blazing...
Ah well you make your choices...

Many thanks for viewing.
From yesterday morning's lovely Auroral display (Feb. 1) . I was down on the snowclad Yukon River, lit up by brilliantly silver lunar rays. The moon cast long shadows and caused diamond sparkles on the snowy river's surface. Brightly moonlit nights are my favorite time for this ... It was a grand show. More from this morning later ... I'd better separate myself from this infernal computer and get some work done ....
