The dandy sat on top of the wire it compacted the wet fibre and was also used to watermark the paper.
This building was established in 1889 as the Guard's House for Ligatne Paper-Mill. Later it has served both as the post office and as the living house. Since summer 2010 this is Ligatne Tourism Information Centre.

I'm not sure what was on this ground before this picture was taken I do have earlier pics showing what looks like a house in this area. anyway as far as I understand the building in view is the coating factory
Built on the site of an old whiskey distillery in 1874, this old papermill near St Andrews was one of the biggest local employers for 130 years or so. In 2008 the mill went into receivership, and was closed. Plans are afoot for St Andrews University to turn the old mill into a green energy biomass centre. Oh, there's also a rather cool little brewery that's sprung up in one of the buildings.
Paper was all hand sorted to remove any defective sheets. Then guillotined and ream wrapped if required.
Later precision trimming and beilomatic cutters with "magic" eye
scanners did this job.
The large bathroom is tiled throughout, has a heated towel rail and bath with glass screen and shower over. The window over looks the river.
