All the paper shoes are about 1.5 inches x 1.5 inches x .5 inch. The are made from cardstock and origami paper.
This was part of a series of about 25 miniature show I exhibited on a solo exhibit called "If the Shoe Fits".
I have been making paper shoes for about 14 years now.
3-d paper crafts adorn a reference desk in the Springfield Township, Montgomery County, Pa Library.
Teen librarian Kris DeLabio leads workshops for children in making these colorful eye-catching sculptures.
The figures are made by printing onto card stock individual patterns that she purchases or finds on websites like Pinterest. The stiff paper is then scored along the lines and the pieces are cut out then glued together to form the three dimensional shapes. DeLabio gave a peek inside a half-finished blue pumpkin to reveal the numbers printed inside each piece and on tab, attached. The number indicates when, in the sequence, the piece goes and the tab, where the subsequent piece gets attached.
In addition, DeLabio makes folded book art using old library books that have lived out their useful lives as reading material. She recycles them into fanned art through simple folds along many pages. A paper mouse book was keeping company with a hedgehog book at the time of your correspondent’s visit. DeLabio has also made more challenging ones such as a celtic knot and a birdhouse. And a vase she fashioned out of one such old book serves as a pen-holder in the library. Watch video interview here

Sorry for short delay had to try out both methods on 2 seperate sheets before resuming collapse on the main model. Whats noticed is method 2 has a back side where points don't meet & that results in a 5 pointed star. Its front didn't come out as neat, unsure if its because of the paper or the method itself. While it maybe cool it could be confusing at the same time (because of alignment), so I will stick to the original method 1. Anyway I got to test some new paper at the same time so its all good.
To prepare for an upcoming workshop, I'm focusing on upcycling paper for my thing-a-day projects this week. I've wanted to try to make paper beads out of security envelopes for a while. I love the different patterns on the inside of them.
What do owls have to do with Mother's Day? Well, nothing of course, but I saw a similar design a while back and decided to give it a go.
While I do think they turned out cute, there are definitely changes I'll make if I decide to try them again.
I 've been meaning to make a wearable ring for such a long time but I keep finding things like these little wildflowers. I cannot resist to their beauty and they spark different ideas. I
believe there is potential for a metal version here.

A gift made by Naho's grandma. These delicately made traditional Japanese shoes are finely balanced on a bevel that shapes the forward part of the "sole", keeping the shoe on the edge of rocking backwards or forwards and does so with the lightest touch. Genius.
なほさんのおばあさんが作ってくれたお土産です。伝統的な下駄の折り紙なんですけど、前のほうに斜角があって、バランスが素晴らしいから軽く触るとけっこう敏感に前それから後ろなどに傾いたり、揺れます。さすが、天才ですね。（変な日本語だったらすみません）

that last one gets me every time! it's the newest one, and it popped up sometime last week, I think. Aiden (left, above) asks me more than Emerson, and he smiles everytime and tilts his head I say yes. it's insane how these little people were JUST babies and now they're running around my house, learning to do things for themselves and having mini-conversations. amazing, i tell you.
Made from a 50-yard roll of 10-square, lime-green, military grade graph paper and lined with tracing paper from a 20-yard roll of light-orange, 5-square, military-grade graph paper :)
The finest the world has to offer!
I got this box of paper when I bought the Epic! Film! Stash! on ebay a few months ago, but hadn't gotten around to testing it until today. As you can see, there are copious notes written on the box. The original owner seemed a little down on the paper because of how slow it is, but I love it! Of course, I'm using it with a contact printed instead of under the enlarger. I can see how that would drive someone a little crazy.
Anyway! I cut a few sheets of the paper down to 4x5, and used them to make some contact prints of ortho lith negatives today. Exposure times in my little Kodacraft contact printer (with 15 watt bulb) ran around 4-5 seconds. The prints? Are awesome. I love this paper! It *is* the finest the world has to offer!
