Actually it's a panelled corridor .... at the Rivoli Ballroom, venue for the Magic Theatre. Just the sort of place to wear a retro outfit like this! Many thanks to Terry Nylon for the photo.

Images inspired by Asian art panels

What was once a nice view across rolling Wiltshire countryside is now a study in geometric patterns..

This little panel was a special kind of nightmare to put together. It's part of my embarrassingly long-term project. It replaces a boring placeholder slab of unadorned brick shown with a note here.

I like to "sketch with bricks" as I'm building. That is, I'll build simple mock-ups of each section to capture the basic shape, so that I can figure out the overall geometry. I don't worry about the details, because these things are never meant to be part of the final model. Once I have a sense of how the thing will fit together, I rebuild the mock-ups in full detail. This is one such rebuild.

UPDATE: This model is now complete.

This is just a decorative, translucent panel in a medical office. Sometimes I like doing abstracts.

90" wide 4 panel art installation I'm working on.....

will also be back-lit with LED lights.

The photoshop file for this has grown to now 5GB, mainly because of the dimensions 90"x29" @300dpi, and has 29 layers.

Playing with Millefiori. 3 x 10'x10" panels. Vitreous glass, Mexican Smalti, ceramic, gold, stained glass

I couldn't help myself. The rainbow order looked so much better than chaotic. This is one panel of two. Squares finish at one inch.

A recent commission. Fabric manipulation wall panel 16 x 12 inches.

Recently spent some time with archeologists studying Native American petroglyphs on some sandstone cliffs in southwestern Wyoming. They were unlike any I had previously seen in the Mountain West. This one panel features a shielded warrior in a Comanche (?) buffalo headdress riding a horse and a shaman with articulated arms and legs and tears pouring from his eyes. No one really knows the meaning behind any of these figures, and we can only surmise their significance.

This is experimental work.

Two circles in Illustrator, with black-and-white grids in gradient mesh, one with seven rows and seven columns, the other with eleven rows and eleven columns, imported into Photoshop...

An electrical panel on a column of an old factory

These panels seem to be some kind of replacement for our roof top on our Apartment building. It is ongoing work in the last few days. Now weather is hot and humid and the work continues. Those poor workmen must suffer, and we sometimes cannot put our AC's on due to work with Tar still being done and the machine to keep the tar hot is directly underneath my bedroom window! The smell is terrible and of course I would pull more of it in if I keep the AC on. I will be glad when all the work is done.

This is a close-up photo of rust on an iron panel on the wharf at Port Maitland Beach that suggests a pareidolia portrait.

LRPS Panel July 17th July

Religius panels at the museum of Mission San Fernando Rey de España, which was founded on 8 September 1797 (as the 17th in order of the California Mission) by Padre Fermin Francisco de Lasuén. The mission is named for St. Ferdinand, King of Spain (1217-1252).

Continuing our tour of the Buckhorn Wash Panel with another detail shot of a previous photo.

Created over 2,000 years ago, this Barrier Canyon Style panel is probably one of the most famous in the San Rafael Swell. The panel is about 130 feet long. The glyphs were painted using powdered hematite and are upwards of four feet tall.

The Buckhorn Panel is easily accessible by car and requires no hiking. Consequently, over the years, it was repeatably vandalized. In 1996 the State of Utah and Emery County "restored" the panel.
