On Valentine’s Day, the California Arts Council gave grants to 14 different arts organizations in the state. At left, Council deputy director Marilyn Nielsen shows the arts-themed license plate that helps fund the Council. She’s shown with Assemblyman Richard Pan (left) and Senate Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg (right, both represent Sacramento), and Caroline Firman of the Association of California Symphony Orchestras and Alice Parente, Very Special Arts, a group that works with the disabled.

More practise at panning again this morning, using my 85mm macro lens - which is meant to be a sharp lens. On this one I forgot that I should have tried to have the shutter speed faster than the focal length of the lens. There are a lot of things to remember! I do like how Missy's ears are flying.

The clay pan at the Ewaninga rock carvings provides an emphemeral source of water after rain allowing aboriginal occupation of the site where they created carvings in the rock outcrops beside the clay pan.
I was trying to get a close up of the body-I thought I was being terribly clever when I found a use for fabric that says "I'm with the band" and a button that says "rockin' it old school."
