I've seen a nice family group on the opposite side- grandma (the passionate photographer) and two very active kids all the time interfering in the Process :-)

Platycercus adscitus..in my garden...the bright setting sun staring right at them made it difficult, but I don't get many photos of them together, so it's a keeper.

Good morning!

The Osprey is a medium-sized fish-eating raptor (bird of prey). It has dark brown upperparts contrasting with pale underparts. There is a black band through the eye, separating the white throat from the pale crown. The Osprey has a rather small head and neck and typically swivels its head around or sways its head from side to side. When it is perched, there is a short bristly crest. The eyes are placed well forward on the head. The fingered wings in flight are narrow and angled distinctively. There are dark carpal patches on the underwing (at the bend in the wing). The beak is strongly hooked and the legs are powerful. The female is similar to the male but is larger and has a fuller, darker breast band. The Osprey is also called the Fish Hawk or White-headed Osprey. (BirdlifeAustralia)

And I looked, and behold, a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Rhododendron Horizon Monarch is another Rhododendron hybrid with an Award Garden of Merit (AGM) badge by the Royal Horticultural Society. It is an impressive hybrid with stunning yellow flowers, yet less fussy and easier to please than many. Each late spring, Rhododendron Horizon Monarch produces red buds that open into pale yellow flowers with pink tones in May.

We called this Painted Wolf (aka African Wild Dog) (Lycaon pictus) the "Pale Male" because of his light coloration. Here he crosses a stream, following the alpha female. When they are on the move, the Painted Wolves tend to take exactly the same path as the individual in front of them - whether in the woods, open ground, or the water. Makes it easy to set up and pre-focus, even if you miss the leader.

Eastern Chipmunk.

Between 8 1/2 to 11 3/4 inches in length. Reddish brown above with a white belly. 1 white stripe bordered by 2 black stripes on sides ending at the rump. 2 white stripes on back much thinner than side stripes. Dark center stripe down the back. Pale facial stripes above and below the eyes. Tail brown on tip and edged with black. Prominent ears.

The Eastern Chipmunk's habitat includes open deciduous woodlands, forest edges, brushy areas, bushes and stone walls in cemeteries and around houses.

They range from southeastern Canada and the north-eastern U.S. east from North Dakota and eastern Oklahoma and south to Missisippi, northwest Carolina and Virginia.

Back in 2003, I found this loaded ore train parked outside of the BN ore yard in Superior, WI. Never thought much of this paint scheme but it has a certain charm to it now.

This is by far the palest Socca pustulosa I've come across - and of note is the similarity to the wall upon which I found it resting.

It was the first time I considered the variability of camouflage of these spiders. Up until this point, they have all been light brown to dark brown.

Commonly known as the knobbled orbweaver.

This one was tiny, just 10 mm body length.

raiding the seed I put out for finches....these birds normally eat grass and tree seeds and fruits. Occasionally though, it will come with it's mate for a little snack of finch seed!

They are very wary...this is through the open window, I have to stand well back from the window and the camera on a tripod to get a take because their eyesight is so good, they see the slightest movement.

Built in the 1870s by local MP and railway engineer Henry Robertson, Palé Hall has been a five-star hotel since 2016. It is Grade II* listed.

This is at The Butterfly Place, in Westford, Massachusetts.

This pale Cattleya orchid flower has been in our backyard garden for well over a week. It is listed as "blue" but, I beg to differ.
