This bicycle was built up from various parts that had accumulated in my shed. It lived through various incarnations wearing different cyclemotor engines.
Here it is wearing a 1952 Power Pak engine that drove the rear wheel via a notched roller. This engine was bought at a car boot sale in Hazelbury Bryan.
Getting a bicycle MOT tested was always an interesting exercise. Tread depth was never up to the legal allowance even with brand new tyres. Also, there was no proper way to test the brakes. However, I found a motorcycle testing station that used considerable common sense and they just checked to make sure that the bicycle wasn't about to fall apart and that the brakes actually worked properly as they were designed to do.
I always felt like a bit of a plonker having to wear a crash helmet when riding the bicycle around town.
I was eventually offered a huge sum of money for this machine because someone wanted the registration number. By then I had found an old Lambretta scooter so I took the offer and used the money to finance the scooter restoration.
