At the end of summer this year, there was a week or so where the smoke haze from fires in B.C. and Washington was significant enough to guarantee the extension of sunrise colours. So one morning when I had the time to commit to it, I walked to nearby Roberts Bay to capture the beauty.

Much to my delight, just as I was about to pack up because the sun was becoming too bright to compensate for, four paddleboarders came out to play.

a paddleboarder enjoying the day

Always arrive early to capture the best light and minimize interruptions. I had to wait for the lake to calm down after a canoeist and a couple of paddleboarders destroyed the perfect reflection.

This juvenile male was considered by our guide to be at a safe distance. The female of this species is the more aggressive we were told. Still, I was glad I had the 2x converter. Manhattan Beach Pier, Manhattan Beach, California.

I got up very early to drive to Derwentwater. It was so very misty; no weather for beautiful sceneries but I quite like this minimalistic shot

I had already composed and planned my shot to make use of the tidal pool on Barassie Beach. I just had to wait a short while for the paddleboarder to make their way across the frame. I'm so lucky to live just a mile from this scene and to be able to find my own tranquillity as the waves lap onto the shore. Enjoy!

Perfect evening for a stroll along Ullswater

A misty sunrise, a paddle boarder was here before me :)

The ocean, as calm as a freshly made bed. Silence, spilling to the horizon. The stillness taking on a shape of its own--becoming beauty steeped in serenity. A lone paddle-boarder struggling to find a current--gives up and acquiesces to the silence that is both huge and nothing at all.

Happy Slider's Sunday everyone.

Same day as the photo of the yacht but facing down the beach. I took these photos of a group of paddleboarders taking advantage of the still conditions and beautiful sunrise. If you look closely you can see a dog on one of the paddleboards between the ladies legs. I got permission from them to photograph them.

September 3pm hour. A mesmerizing treasure trove of golden sunshine sparkles appeared in the water as I was walking around Ventura Harbor. Then in the fresh ocean breeze, along came a stand-up paddleboarder, unencumbered and uncluttered. After swirling through the sparkles like a lightweight nomad, he turns and looks back. I wonder if he saw the same thing I did. Anyway, it looks like he was freely enjoying the afternoon and I hope he goes home happy.

To be here was such a treat. I wanted a picture with boats for my 'Hours' picture because I was born in September in the 3pm hour on what is now 'International Talk Like A Pirate Day', so it worked out well. Arrr, Matey!

September is so lovely and it will transition into Fall before we know it. As Summer fades, it leaves its door open just a little...

Thank you again for your patience, my Flickr friends. I'm still off and on for awhile longer.

A picture of tranquillity, the moored sailing boats caught in the early evening sunshine. The calm flow of the incoming tide as the sea meets with the stillness of the estuary waters and seamlessly merges with the distant skyline . In the background two paddle boarders effortlessly drift into shot.

Evening stroll on Freshwater east, lovely beach, but the light was rather flat. The paddleboarder did provide some interest.

A lone paddle boarder greets the sun as it rises at St Cyrus. A quick snap taken from the coastal path on my way to the beach. (It was a beautiful sunrise, but I may have `juiced up' the colour a bit in post-processing, just for my own viewing pleasure!)

I wish I could paddleboard - the girl on her board looked so lovely as she gently pootled along. I tried once and couldn't believe how hard it is to stand up. I ended up covered in bruises after falling off so many times! I have done quite a bit of kayaking and wave ski surfing in my time so thought it would be easy - how wrong was I!!! I shall leave it to others and just take photos of them instead!
