The problem with throwing a bunch of batteries in a bag is that they tend to form circuits and short out. By carefully packing batteries into a compartmentalized case, the batteries will be easy to find and at full charge when I need them.

Documentation of us slowly and laboriously packing of all our stuff in boxes (minus the gazillion bags of things that have gone to Goodwill or the trash), followed by the professional movers' much more efficient loading of our things out of the condo and into an LA-bound truck! I'm moving at the end of the month so it's time to get packing. So far today I've managed to fill 19 boxes and 2 bags of crap. I'm exhausted...
Recently I've been as busy as this bee - packing as I prepare to move house.
In a few days, Pixy and I will be flying north to live in a coastal country town. Pixy is coping very well with the upheaval in his world - being a real cool cat!

We went to the Wakamatsu Tea and Silk Colony at Gold Hill in El Dorado County today. It's a failed Japanese colony from 1869 or so that tried to grow tea and silkworms. They didn't count on a harsh drought (not as bad as the one now, but bad enough), funding being cut off, and miners diverting their irrigation water for their own nefarious purposes. The colony lasted two years and then the members (they started with 22 people) dispersed. One 19 year-old lady, Okei, died of a fever, probably malaria, and is buried on this site.
