Didn't get my image done early so I had to play around in the dark with holiday lights and a drink. We had a dark overcast day which put me in a cooking mood. I made sourdough bread, rosemary sourdough crackers, smoked almonds and protein peanut butter banana bars. Cheers!

A strange effect when a gold star is put behind a translucent piece of plastic. Not quite what I was after.
Simply Red released the single Stars back in 1991. It was the 4th single released from their album of the same name.
Back in 1991 I worked for British Telecom (B.T.) and I would often have to drive miles up and down the country to attend various conferences/training sessions blah blah blah. All part of the corporate world. I would often pick up a CD when I filled the car up with petrol on my travels. The album Stars was one of them. I still love the album and this song in particular.

Oh I put the rental Renault duster to good use in this one. I tried to go there last year but the road was closed due to a landslide, that road is open now, but it's still basically 4x4 on that side, I found another way, after reversing on many tracks that led to nowhere. If I went back there now, I still wouldn't know where to turn, and oh, google maps is useless, it thinks you can drive on goat tracks.

Gatekeeper butterfly visiting a large daisy for some nectar. This was by the new pond at Gloucester Park which was put in by the developers when the built houses over the site of the old boating lake. I have to say they have done a pretty good job of it. There are lots of wild flowers and reeds growing around it and it's a great place to see insects.

TUBE NOSTRILS, puts the fulmar, with the family of the shearwaters and petrels, not a gull, to watch these birds with stiffly held wings and effortless gliding action, captured from the top of the cliffs at Northforland Margate, Kent. U.K are a joy to watch, they nest in the chalk cliffs. Please zoom in to see the tube nose! (110 cm in length)

This train took ages picking up a pair of locos involved in a level crossing accident in Oamaru the previous day.
Unbeknownst to me, it also picked up a string of empties. You'd think the train would handle better if they'd put them on the back. Grumble. :(

No idea if it's a he or she but when trying to put a sex to this goat I read an article about repeated cries for help that a climber on Idwal Slabs had heard. Mountain Rescue were called to only find a goat was the culprit!

This was unique behaviour to me. The Squirrel wasnt anywhere near the photographers, but she was hyper vigilant.
They will often stand on their hind legs to let intruders know that they are a formidable enemy should advances be made further into the territory.

Two tiny pink flowers,I put them on top of one of the peonies.
I added Kim Klassen's stamps, fringe-1 and fringe-2.
These stamps are on the edges of the photo so the flowers jump out more.

Simply put, the Pantheon is a marvel. It was dedicated around 126 AD and almost two thousand years after it was built, the Pantheon's dome is still the world's largest unreinforced concrete dome. The Roman builders combined beauty with amazing engineering. The coffers (the sunken panels in the dome) reduce the weight and the structure forming the coffers carrys the weight as an arch would. The oculus (opening in the top) not only provides sunlight but it elimnates the point of highest stress and transfers the load to the oculus ring and down through the coffer structure. As an engineer I'm truly impressed by the engineering work that has still stood the test of time and has done so in such a beautiful fashion. It is one of the best-preserved of all ancient Roman buildings, no doubt due in large part to being in continuous use throughout its history. Originally built as a temple it is now a church dedicated to "St. Mary and the Martyrs" since the 7th century.

We put an electric heater and a water bowl on our patio. I keep warm water in the bowl and the birds are sure enjoying it. Not a very good picture through the class and a screen.
Our area is not prepared for the weather we are having.
