It really isn't consistent with full immersion in a local culture, but the pleasure of a morning cup of coffee was fully appreciated.

Phone 4 - Photograph taken with the camera on an iPhone 4.

Camera - The native camera app was used with the HDR option.

Filterstorm - Opened the original photograph in the native Photos app on my iPad3. Copied the image, opened the Filterstorm app, pasted the contents of the clipboard, and saved a copy of the image to the Camera Roll. This manoeuvre simplified the subsequent processing by having this copy as the most recent image in the Camera Roll.

Snapseed - Image straightened. Structure and Ambience filters applied. Overall lighting adjustments carried out.

Photoshop Express - Noise reduction and Sharpening filters applied with manual settings.

ExifEditor - EXIF data from the original photograph transferred to the final image.

A self portrait with the iPhone while demonstrating new iOS 5 camera features via FaceTime on MPB, processed with Photoshop Express.

NOTE: This image was 100% produced "in camera." No external "post processing" was used in the production of this picture. All effects are "in camera." When this image left the camera, this is exactly how it looked.

Again, this brings to the fore the discussion (and debate) of what constitutes "image manipulation." Obviously, this image has been highly processed. Two schools of thought arise in this issue: 1.) Consideration for the advancement of processors capable of producing live shots such as seen here (thus eliminating the "post" in "post processing," and; 2.) The merit of artistic discretion.

Essentially, we may boil that down to two words: 1.) Science, and; 2.) Art.

A couple of days ago a robin began building a nest on the window ledge. I didn’t think she would stay as I walk by this window daily and appear much too close for comfort. But when I arrived home today I noticed her in the nest and when she flew away I also noticed that she has begun laying eggs. Fingers crossed for a successful first clutch of the season!

We took advantage of this workshop to gather the lead researchers for a proposed Spherical Modelling Project. We discussed various matters, and signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) in anticipation of signing a full agreement in due course.

As you do in all circumstances in China, we then took group photographs!

Iphoneography with Samsung SIII

Earlier today I did a portrait series with my son and my Olympus OM-D E-M5. This one though, was shot with my iPad and modeling lights. It is edited in PS Express and Snapstream.

The Soul Tower was the tallest, and in my opinion, the most beautiful structure at the Changling Tomb. It was at the very rear of the tomb complex.

My photograph was "challenged" in terms of color, hence I resorted to B&W. Still, I'm pleased with the result.

These magnificent jade pendants were on display in the Hall of Eminent Favour at the Changling Tomb. Jade was a symbol of status and objects such as this were reserved for the most powerful. I believe that these pieces were worn on the left and right sides, hanging from a belt.
