In the dense, green forests deep and wide,
The tiger roams with a regal stride.
Golden coat with ebony streaks,
A silent hunter, power it speaks.
Eyes like embers, sharp and keen,
Gliding through shadows, barely seen.
Each step measured, soft yet strong,
The jungle echoes its haunting song.
Guardian of the wild, fierce and free,
A symbol of nature's majesty.
Through mangroves dense, or grassy plains,
The tiger rules where wildness reigns.
Yet whispers tell of dwindling ground,
Of forests lost, no prey is found.
The king now fights a battle grim,
A world forgetting the need for him.
O mighty tiger, bold and true,
Your roar still calls, we must renew.
Protect the forests, let rivers run,
For life with you and us is one.
Let cubs frolic in twilight's glow,
Let jungles thrive where you bestow.
For when the tiger fades from sight,
The world will dim, robbed of its light.

Tacoma is an old city, but a very beautiful city. They have a great port and a wonderful industrial area which I didn't have enough time to shoot in. Next time. Next time.
I leave Thursday.
.
Drove past this that morning.
Turned back and grabbed a shot.
Found that someone else had also thought this interesting.

Googling only turned up sites aimed at protecting the Chaco Canyon site and surrounding area from drilling. Nothing turned up regarding the sign painted on this building specifically.
Thought I'd throw this into the ~~fence friday~~ as well, there is a fence.

Rhino poaching has escalated in recent years and is being driven by the demand for rhino horn in Asian countries where some ignorant people belief it can cure ailments. Rhino horn is made of keratin and CAN NOT cure any sickness.
Badlands National Park is an American national park located in southwestern South Dakota. The park protects 242,756 acres of sharply eroded buttes and pinnacles, along with the largest undisturbed mixed grass prairie in the United States. The National Park Service manages the park, with the South Unit being co-managed with the Oglala Lakota tribe. The Badlands Wilderness protects 64,144 acres of the park as a designated wilderness area, and is one site where the black-footed ferret, one of the most endangered mammals in the world, was reintroduced to the wild. The South Unit, or Stronghold District, includes sites of 1890s Ghost Dances, a former United States Air Force bomb and gunnery range, and Red Shirt Table, the park's highest point at 3,340 feet. Authorized as Badlands National Monument on March 4, 1929, it was not established until January 25, 1939. Badlands was redesignated a national park on November 10, 1978. Under the Mission 66 plan, the Ben Reifel Visitor Center was constructed for the monument in 1957–58. The park also administers the nearby Minuteman Missile National Historic Site. Movies such as Dances with Wolves (1990) and Thunderheart (1992) were partially filmed in Badlands National Park

Israeli liberals, angry at Netanyahu's attempt to crush the independence of the judiciary and protect himself from a corruption indictment, joined Palestinian and other activists infuriated by 56 years of Apartheid, since Israel's occupation of the West Bank in 1967.
Netanyahu is still on trial for corruption in three separate cases. In 2019 he had already been officially indicted for breach of trust, accepting bribes and fraud, and, as a consequence, he lost the support of his coalition partners in parliament. However, last November, he returned to power in coalition with the ultra-orthodox and ultra nationalist factions, forming what almost all commentators agree is the most right wing government Israel has witnessed since its independence in 1948.
Israel has been rocked by massive protests and strikes ever since Netanyahu's justice minister, Yariv Levin, revealed the government's plan to overhaul the country's justice system in January. Activists pointed out that its intent was clear. To weaken judicial independence and to shield Netanyahu from corruption charges.
Resistance to the government's proposals escalated even further two days after this photograph was taken when Netanyahu returned to Israel and fired his defence minister, Yoav Gallant. Within an hour tens of thousands had taken to the streets in central Jerusalem and also surrounded Netanyahu's home.
Returning to Friday morning in London when this photo was taken, protesters waiting peacefully on the pavement opposite 10 Downing Street were doubtless surprised at the huge number of police, including dogs, deployed on Whitehall. Later, and despite heavy rain, around a hundred protesters made their way to the Savoy Hotel where Netanyahu was rumoured to be staying, where the police presence was far more low key.
Many activists carried placards such as "democracy and occupation cannot coexist" and "Free Palestine = Free Israel." They pointed out that Palestinians live in what both Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have concluded is an Apartheid state, many without any access to clean water or electricity, many fearing the demolition of their homes and others the detention for lengthy periods of their relatives and children for protesting the continuing occupation. Meanwhile, Britain's ongoing military and diplomatic support for Israel make us complicit in the continued oppression of the Palestinian people.

Back from a terrific camping trip to Strathcona Park, mid-island. This time of year the park seems to offer a great variety of birds. Only the second time I have ever seen the Warbling Vireo.
I will get catch up soon.

At Þingvellir - literally "Parliament Plains" - the Alþing general assembly was established around 930 and continued to convene there until 1798. Major events in the history of Iceland have taken place at Þingvellir and therefore the place is held in high esteem by all Icelanders. Today Þingvellir is a protected national shrine. According to the law, passed in 1928, the protected area shall always be the property of the Icelandic nation, under the preservation of the Alþing. Þingvellir is notable for its unusual tectonic and volcanic environment in a rift valley.

Cabañeros National Park is a vast protected natural area located between the provinces of Ciudad Real and Toledo, in Castilla-La Mancha. It is considered the best example of Mediterranean forest in Europe and is distinguished by its great biological and landscape diversity, covering more than 40,000 hectares.
Its main features include:
Landscape: It is divided into two distinct areas:
La Raña: A vast plain with herbaceous vegetation where holm oak forests proliferate and large herbivores such as deer graze. It is an ideal habitat for steppe birds such as the little bustard and the stone curlew, and you can also observe storks and great bustards.
La Sierra: Composed of extensive rocky areas and scree covered with dense Mediterranean forests and scrub. Holm oak forests, cork oak forests, oak forests, and Pyrenean oak forests dominate here, along with scrubland such as rockrose and heath. It is home to large birds of prey such as the black vulture, the Spanish imperial eagle, and the black stork, as well as large mammals such as deer, roe deer, and wild boar.
Geology: Materials such as quartzite and slate predominate. In some areas, especially on the Boquerón del Estena route (considered a Site of Geological Interest), fossils dating back more than 400 million years can be found, indicating that the area was once covered by a sea.
Hydrography: Numerous streams and creeks cross the park, with their greatest flow in autumn and spring, contributing to a mosaic of flowers during these seasons. The park is bordered to the east by the Bullaque River and to the west by the Estena River.
Biodiversity: It is home to a rich fauna, including endangered species such as the Iberian lynx and the Spanish imperial eagle. Its flora is equally valuable, with different bioclimatic zones and 22 species classified as vulnerable or of special interest.
Cultural Values: The name "Cabañeros" refers to the old huts used by shepherds and charcoal burners. Traditional activities such as cork-cutting and beekeeping are still practiced.
The park offers hiking trails, guided off-road tours, and activities such as birdwatching and canoeing. It is an idyllic place to enjoy nature in its purest form at any time of year, with hot, dry summers and cold, wet winters. The deer rut in autumn (September-October) is particularly noteworthy, a natural spectacle for observing large deer.
