Young female koala joey (Phascolarctos cinereus) is out of her mom "Sooky's" pouch more and more. But she still stays very close to her mom. Australia Outback section of the San Diego Zoo. Conservation status: vulnerable
National parks and protected lands are not without their fair share of ghosts, ghouls, and things that go bump in the night. Take this road through the dark forest. Where do you think it will lead you? To some haunted lodge? A lonely gravesite? A trailhead through an even darker stand of trees? Who knows?
Actually, this road is also called the Nisqually-Paradise Corridor from the entrance to Mount Rainier National Park in Ashford, going up to the Paradise area of the park. I added a little bit of vignetting to an already slightly dark image to add some spooky vibes to this leading line shot.

The 'Autumn joy' sedum draws lots of butterflies when their blossoms open. This Checkered white butterfly (Pontia protodice) was kind enough to let me get a closeup. Most of the butterflies are so skittish that approaching is quite difficult. I suppose those defensive mechanisms need to be strong to survive.
Thor's Hammer is a unique example of a hoodoo, formed by erosion procesesses of relatively hard rock overlaying softer, more erodible rock, such as sandstone. The harder more resistant caprock protects the softer underlying layers from frost, wind, rain, freezing and thawing so that the rate of erosion is slower than elsewhere.
30 to 40 million years ago the sandstone was "born" in an ancient lake that covered much of Western Utah. Minerals deposited within different rock types cause hoodoos to have different colors throughout their height.

At a first glance all looks normal in this shot. Look closer at the right hand side and you will see that the glacier is covered by a series of huge tarpaulins. The retreat of the Rhone Glacier over the last one hundred years has been startling and although it extends virtually as far as you can see in this view there is a real fear that it will disappear for good.
The Robin will sing all year round to protect their territory and to attract a mate, they have adapted to live in poor light and are one of the first birds to sing in the mornings and one of the last to stop singing in the evening, their alarm call is a loud ticking sound to warn others of a possible threat. The male and female are almost identical in shape and colour and the Juveniles have brown speckled upper and under parts with no red breast to protect them from attacks by other birds within their territory, the young birds start to get the red breast when they are about two to three months old. The breeding season starts in late March and lasts until July, they usually have between 4-6 eggs with an egg laid every day and the female incubates the eggs for 13 days and the young fledge after 14 more days also Robins have two broods per year. They like to eat a mixture of insects, worms, fruit and seeds and will come into the garden and seem quite at ease if you are working in the garden or sitting down.
I protect it because it's been broken before... if I give you they key, do you promise to look after it?

Protecting innocence~ They arrive to this earth relying on our coded ability to host them as they take human form. They are born tiny and helpless and it is up to us to support, care for and nurture them till they can care for themselves. They carry in them the promise and possibility of a better tomorrow. They are our most valuable assets. [ 28 more words ]

So recently is was privileged to take part in a Mandalorian collab! For my part, I built for Chapter 2 of the show. My scene depicts the Mandalorian defending baby Yoda against two thugs which is the opening scene of chapter two in the show. I hope you all enjoy!
According to the National Park Service, recent rates of erosion along parts of North Carolina's Outer Banks have been as high as 10 to 15 feet in a year.
The very elegant and magnificent Fallow Deer (Dama dama) in the parkland of the National Trust's Tatton Park in Cheshire. Truly amazing to observe them in their small herds. It's clear they are used to people being in their presence, I still kept my distance so I was able to capture them in a relaxed natural state grazing.
Fallow Deer.
Introduced, but naturalised species. Protected in the UK under the Deer Act 1991.
The fallow deer is variable in colour, but is mostly pale gingery-brown, with white spots on the back, a characteristic black and white tail and a white rump patch outlined in black. Some animals are darker brown without any spots, and others are very pale, almost white.
Fallow deer are native to Asia and were introduced into the UK by the Normans around the 11th century.
