Composite image of the Total Solar Eclipse of August 21, 2017 as viewed from Madras, Oregon, USA.
Totality and background from the same frame, others added to show progress of the eclipse and movement of the sun. This gives more of a feel of what it was like to look at the eclipse versus the tighter zoomed-in images of the eclipse detail.

Badlands National Park, South Dakota. As the older badlands features in the background erode away, new badlands are created by erosion in the foreground.
Travelling north on US-71, after leaving Hruska's in Ellinger, these clouds began forming along the western horizon. They did not exist just 15 minutes prior to this shot. As we continued north highlights continue to expand along the faint lines of clouds on either side of this formation.
A compilation of images from the 2024 eclipse taken from Rend Lake in Southern Illinois. The 4 hour drive was sort of a last minute decision, and I only had a general idea where I wanted to go. The full sun image was actually my test shot taken in Peoria. And I forgot to take the filter off for totality (oops!), so the center image is one I took during the 2017 eclipse. It was just fun to be around the crowds and experience the event. And a nice remembrance of the 2017 trip I took with Mom to see that eclipse. Dad was unable to go, but he definitely loved photography. Both parents passed away a few days apart a month after their 61st wedding anniversary in 2022. So I was I was thinking of them as I enjoyed the show.
I spent an enjoyable afternoon at Grosmont, back at "the balcony", checking out how Autumn's colour changes are progressing. I had a lovely chat with an Angler who fishes there regularly. The light was subdued, most of the afternoon but my patience paid off with a brief sunny spell, lighting up the scene.
From this sweet spot on the steep and rocky trail, paradise was within sight...

Last stop before leaving Kentucky and wanted to take something with me. Never sure I'll be back this way again.
SFe 3338West rounds the curve at Cozy Dell and heads down through Blue Cut in Cajon Pass. Included in the consist of GP's is a GP38-2 and leased B&O GP40, 3739, which has been renumbered by Santa Fe to 9739 to avoid conflicts with their own power. Evidently, the additional expense of changing the numberboards was not a priority. Taken thirty-seven years ago today, September 29, 1979.
Bob just has to put the boards on this barn (sliding) door.
Meanwhile, I have 'bitten the bullet' so to speak and commissioned a company to come and remove all the trees with 'X's'. They should come this week if the weather is good and hopefully I'll have video!
This picture was taken from a window on the back of the house with part of the screen porch addition 14 x17', on the right. (Which Bob built with some assistance from me in 2009 through into 2011.)
66731 drags family member 92043, collectively known as 0D54, up the Lichfield T.V Chord and onto the South Staffordshire Line.
The doublet are working from Crewe to Brush in order for the 92 to receive some t.l.c.
Meanwhile, 2B42 sits at the High Level station, waiting to set off along the Cross-City line for Bromsgrove.
This is my first-time catching anything using the chord to head east, and thanks to a friendly Bobby, I didn't miss it. Sweet.
