The much-maligned Flint River sure looks pretty as it gently rolls through Richfield County Park in this winter photo, January, 2022.
This native plant is also called the Wattle. 1000 of 1350 species found in Australia. Commonly known as the wattles or acacias, it's a large genus of shrubs and trees in the subfamily Mimosoideae of the pea family Fabaceae. Initially, it comprised a group of plant species native to Africa and Australia. They are present in all terrestrial habitats, including alpine settings, rainforests, woodlands, grasslands, coastal dunes and deserts. Aboriginal Australians have traditionally harvested the seeds of some species, to be ground into flour and eaten as a paste or baked into a cake. The seeds contain as much as 25% more protein than common cereals, and they store well for long periods due to the hard seed coats. In addition to utilizing the edible seed and gum, the people employed the timber for implements, weapons, fuel and musical instruments. 3606
So I might be a little bit obsessed with a certain local flower shop and the lady that runs it has the most amazing eye for beautiful flora. This wreath caught my eye when I was last mooching about. Simple. Pure. Love.
Common fumitory (Fumaria muralis) has an interesting little flower, pretty complex. Although it's a European migrant, it seems quite happy in moist shady spots in Washington state.

Leucanthemum × superbum, the Shasta daisy, is a commonly grown flowering herbaceous perennial plant with the classic daisy appearance of white petals (ray florets) around a yellow disc, similar to the oxeye daisy Leucanthemum vulgare Lam, but larger. It originated as a hybrid produced in 1890 by the American horticulturist Luther Burbank from a number of daisies. First, he crossed Leucanthemum vulgare with Leucanthemum maximum (Ramond) DC.; this double hybrid was itself crossed with Leucanthemum lacustre (Brot.) Samp. The resulting Leucanthemum triple hybrid was crossed with Nipponanthemum nipponicum (Franch. ex Maxim.) Kitam., creating an intergeneric cross of species from three continents. It was named after Mount Shasta, because its petals were the color of the snow. Some members of the genus are considered noxious weeds, but the Shasta daisy remains a favorite garden plant. 11826

It's always a special treat for me to find flowering Daphne mezereum, both because it's quite rare and also because it supplies otherwise still colorless forests with such wonderful pink flowers. The whole plant is a thoroughly toxic affair though, as every part of it contains high levels of plant poison. Four of its little red berries are enough to kill a child, 8-10 berries will kill an adult and just touching any part of it can cause rashes. Still a very pretty plant though :-)

Male Eurasian Bullfinch.
One of my favourite UK birds and always special to see, especially close up. Remember Chris Packham once giving a sliding scale of finch 'value' to the bird watcher. One Hawfinch being worth 10 Bullfinches - and a male Bullfinch being worth 100 Chaffinches (or something like that). I would say Bullfinches are worth more than that!

One of the pretty houses in Flamstead, Hertfordshire. This is Verulam House (both words, 'flam' and 'Verulam', derive from Latin Verulamium, the name the Romans gave to the city which is now St Albans). Flamstead, at least its old centre, is a prosperous village.
Spotted this pretty shrub in some ones garden near our holiday home, i have no idea what it is called though...
