Salyx, having a wee shady moment on the new garden sofa...

We built this behemoth in June...from old pallets and new decking. I thought it was a good idea. It weighs a bloomin’ tonne! It is more than seven ft long, at one point. Also, I had to buy some sheds in which to keep the over-the-top-expensive cushions.

Anyway...not content with lying under a tree or a bush, Madam decided that comfort was top of the agenda.

Thank you for your support and visit everyone!

This Apple blossom with its pink and white coloured flowers is one of four trees that we planted in our garden 36 months ago and we plan to plant a Cherry blossom tree soon. We love them; the birds love them and the environment needs them. We’re far from being saints when it comes to reducing our carbon footprint but we are conscious and ambitious about adapting our day-to-day-behaviours to protect the planet and wildlife.

Cattleya is a genus of orchids from Costa Rica south to Argentina. The genus is abbreviated C in trade journals. Epiphytic or terrestrial orchids with cylindrical rhizome from which the fleshy noodle-like roots grow. Pseudobulbs can be conical, spindle-shaped or cylindrical; with upright growth; one or two leaves growing from the top of them. The leaves can be oblong, lanceolate or elliptical, somewhat fleshy, with smooth margin. The inflorescence is a terminal raceme with few or several flowers. Flowers have sepals and petals free from each other; the lip or labellum (lowermost petal), usually has a different coloration and shape from the rest of the flower and covers in part the flower column forming a tube. There are four polliniums (bag-like organs that contain pollen). The fruit is a capsule with many small seeds. 32385

From my summer holiday and languishing with my other shots that were taken using my oldest Sony, the A7M2 with a CZ Jena Pancolar 50mm1.8 and a helicoid focusing ring. Belly shot of course and made sure Jonathan in the vicinity just in case I couldn't get back up lol....taken in the Towans at Gwithian. The dogs get a walk and I get a few pics and Jonathan gets a rest. Very pleasant allround as we weren't , still aren't in the best of health but a holiday in Cornwall is the best medicine I reckon... I forgot the name of this very tiny flower but too tired to look just now...

magnolia is .

Oh, oh, oh

Oh, here we go

Walkin', talkin' like you know

I want your pretty little psycho

Pretty little psycho

I'm ready to go, I'm taking chances

Sippin' less from champagne glasses

Gotta have you, I'm movin' closer

I won't take no for an answer

You're lookin' crazy, you're lookin' wrong

It looks like we're gonna get along

And once I've got you, it's a fact

Baby, there's no turning back

Make me, make me impressed

Make me, make me obsessed

Oh, oh, oh

Oh, here we go

Walkin', talkin' like you know

I want your pretty little psycho

Oh, oh, oh

Have you purrin' on your back

Tip the glass, now light it up

Gerbera L. is a genus of plants in the Asteraceae (daisy family). Gerbera is native to tropical regions of South America, Africa and Asia. Gerbera species bear a large capitulum with striking, two-lipped ray florets in yellow, orange, white, pink or red colours. The capitulum, which has the appearance of a single flower, is actually composed of hundreds of individual flowers. The morphology of the flowers varies depending on their position in the capitulum. The flower heads can be as small as 7 cm (Gerbera mini 'Harley') in diameter or up to 12 cm (Gerbera ‘Golden Serena’). Gerbera is very popular and widely used as a decorative garden plant or as cut flowers. Z2_198

Camellia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Theaceae. Camellias are evergreen shrubs or small trees up to 20 m tall. They are found in eastern and southern Asia, from the Himalayas east to Japan and Indonesia. There are about 300 species and around 3,000 hybrids. Their flowers are usually large and conspicuous, one to 12 cm in diameter, with five to nine petals in naturally occurring species of camellias. The colors of the flowers vary from white through pink colors to red. Of economic importance in East Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Indian subcontinent, leaves of C. sinensis are processed to create the popular beverage tea. The ornamental C. japonica, C. sasanqua and their hybrids are the source of hundreds of garden cultivars. C. oleifera produces tea seed oil, used in cooking and cosmetics. The various species of camellia plants are generally well-adapted to acid soils rich in humus, and most species do not grow well on chalky soil or other calcium-rich soils. Most species of camellias also require a large amount of water, either from natural rainfall or from irrigation, and the plants will not tolerate droughts. However, some of the more unusual camellias – typically species from karst soils in Vietnam – can grow without too much water. 35329

Dietes is a genus of rhizomatous plants of the family Iridaceae, first described as a genus in 1866. Common names include wood iris, Fortnight lily, African iris, Japanese iris and Butterfly iris, each of which may be used differently in different regions for one or more of the six species within the genus. Most species are native to southern and central Africa. They have flowers with six free tepals that are not joined into a tube at their bases. 29221

Dahlia is a genus of bushy, tuberous, herbaceous perennial plants native to Mexico. A member of the Asteraceae (formerly Compositae) family of dicotyledonous plants, its garden relatives thus include the sunflower, daisy, chrysanthemum, and zinnia. The stems are leafy, ranging in height from as low as 30 cm to more than 1.8–2.4 m. The majority of species do not produce scented flowers. Like most plants that do not attract pollinating insects through scent, they are brightly colored, displaying most hues, with the exception of blue. The dahlia was declared the national flower of Mexico in 1963. Dahlias are perennial plants with tuberous roots, though they are grown as annuals in some regions with cold winters. While some have herbaceous stems, others have stems which lignify in the absence of secondary tissue and resprout following winter dormancy, allowing further seasons of growth. As a member of the Asteraceae, the dahlia has a flower head that is actually a composite (hence the older name Compositae) with both central disc florets and surrounding ray florets. Z2_51

A pretty Yellow Rumped Warbler I came across at the Upper Kananaskis Lake in Alberta.

Rhodanthe chlorocephala is a native Australian daisy belonging to the family Asteraceae. It is widely grown due to its attractive flowers and foliage, and because it’s hardy, adaptable and provides a good, fast ground cover. The flowers are long-lived and dry well. Rhodanthe chlorocephala subspecies rosea is the most widely grown subspecies and is commonly known as “Pink and White Everlasting”, “Rosy Sunray”, “Pink Paper-daisy” and “Rosy Everlasting”. It grows naturally in the south of Western Australia extending into South Australia. Rhodanthe chlorocephala subsp. rosea is an erect annual herb 20-60cm high with clumps of glabrous (hairless) grey-green stems and leaves 1-6cm in length. It has a large single flowering head at the tip of each stem. Flower heads grow to 6cm diameter, gradually decreasing as the flowering season progresses. The color of the bracts varies from deep pink (almost red) through pale pink to pure white, with a yellow or black centre. 26307
