International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer (informally and simply called Ozone Day) is celebrated on September 16 designed by the United Nations General Assembly. This designation had been made on December 19, 2000, in commemoration of the date, in 1987, on which nations signed the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. In 1994, the UN General Assembly proclaimed 16 September the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, commemorating the date of the signing, in 1987, of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. The closure of the hole in the ozone layer was observed 30 years after the protocol was signed. Due to the nature of the gases responsible for ozone depletion their chemical effects are expected to continue for between 50 and 100 years

.... a visit to Calke Abbey and a tour round the house to see and listen to those that are preserving the House as it is, not trying to get is shinny and new looking.....
Perfect way to do it.
My first attempt at capturing this stone arch from an adjacent footbridge, had the sun reflecting too intensely down onto the brook. We tried again an hour later and the light was less severe. However, a steady stream of hikers wanting to cross the single file bridge had me frequently moving out of the way and every time someone set foot on it, the wooden structure moved. I finally crawled under the bridge to get this point of view. I'll have to try again on an overcast day when it's not so late in the year and much of the foliage is in full bloom.
The original mill, built here in the mid 19th century, ground lime in much the same way a grist mill produced grain. This arch is an original feature of the mill race and you really have to admire the masons that cut and fit the stones together to make it last this long. The Halton Hills Branch of the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario, strongly requests that people stay clear of the arch to assist in it’s preservation.

Above the grand staircase at Drottningholm.
Drottningholm palace is the home of the king and queen of Sweden - no, they do not actually live in the big palace in the middle of Stockholm, but in this much cosier creation just outside of Stockholm (in the small village of Drottningholm - which was actually built to house servants for the palace).
The name literally means the Queen's islet, and is older than the building itself. It used to refer to a palace built in 1580 for the queen Katarina Jagellonica - but that place burned down in 1661, and the current house is the one that was built to replace it. It was on order from the queen Hedwig Eleonora - at the time queen dowager but also regent for her son Karl (Charles) XI that was underage when his father (Karl X) died. The palace was designed by one of Sweden's most well known architects: Nicodemus Tessin the Elder, and after his death the work was continued on by his (equally famous) son Nicodemus Tessin the Younger. The queen used it as a summer residence, and as a place for hunting. The palace continued to be in fashion throughout the 18th century, and got a partly rococo interior during the time of queen Lovisa Ulrika.
But the place fell out of fashion with the new Bernadotte dynasty in the early 19th century, being to closely connected with the earlier regime. The last new add-ons to the place was electricity and modern plumbing at the beginning of the 20th century - after that the focus has been on conservation and preservation.
The royal family has lived there since 1981 (though the kids have moved out by now).
New Orleans’ Preservation Hall was established in 1961 to honor one of America’s truest art forms – Traditional New Orleans Jazz. Operating as a music venue, a touring band, and a non-profit organization, Preservation Hall continues its mission today as a cornerstone of New Orleans music and culture.
Situated in the heart of the French Quarter on St. Peter Street, the Preservation Hall venue presents intimate, acoustic New Orleans Jazz concerts over 350 nights a year featuring ensembles from a current collective of 100+ local master practitioners. On any given night, audiences bear joyful witness to the evolution of this venerable and living tradition.

This is a famous 19th century palace situated in the Bangalore City, India. Ancient painting and several other royal belongings have been kept under preservation at this place. Combination of Tudor and Scottish architectures with royal wooden interiors, unique vine-covered walls are the real gem of the palace.
Photographed the Anhinga drying it's feather on a dead tree trunk in the Banana Creek Marsh alongside the Alligator Alley trail located in the Circle B Bar Reserve in the City of Lakeland in Polk County Florida U.S.A.
Anhingas are large and slender waterbirds with long fan like tails that resemble a turkey's tail. They have a long S-shaped neck and a dagger like bill. In flight, Anhingas look like a flying cross; the wings are held out flat and the neck and tail stick straight out. They have slim bodies and look rather flattened in flight.

The feed trough at the historic Malchow Farm has been part of a farmstead dating back to the early 1900's. Before the most recent generation of farmers, the property was also the site of the Overland Trail crossing of the Little Thompson River running just south of Berthoud, Colorado. Today, the historic feed trough only feeds visual perspectives to the distant Mount Meeker and Long's Peak, two of the highest peaks in Colorado's Front Range.

Cheyenne’s Dinneen Building earns award for historic preservation.
W.E. Dinneen came to Cheyenne in the 1880s and was involved in hauling freight for the Union Pacific Railroad, John Dinneen said.
“He got into the livery business, and by 1906, they were selling cars,” John Dinneen said. The car dealership sold Buicks, White Trucks and Americar brands at first, he added.
W.E. Dinneen and his son, W.J. Dinneen. built the red brick building in 1927, John Dinneen said. Its entire second floor was a car storage area, complete with a water-powered elevator that delivered cars from the second floor to the showroom.
The elevator was still in use when the family decided to get out of the car business in 2006, John Dinneen said.

More difficult than feeling the worst, the saddest, is the absence of any feelings to remind us who we are, why we're here. How we survived.
