Talk about a bird show... There is so much bird activity in my yard during this autumn season. There are two bluebirds that are hanging out pretty much all day long but several more visit the yard during what I call the "bird show" that's when all of my little visitors come at the same time to hang out, grab a bite and a drink and maybe a bath. When possible I stop everything I am doing just to sit and watch the show.
Hard to believe it's been two years since I shot one of these. It's been such a busy kick working on my film projects. I love the work, but certainly, the rewards are far less immediate than in photography. Instead of hours or days, it takes months, sometimes years, just to see one film project through from inception to completion… Sometimes, within this process, it feels like I’ve sacrificed my creativity to the administrative duties of MAKING the actual work.
This needs to change.
In the coming months, I hope to carve out more time for the work I care about. The creative work. Brainstorming, photography, writing. The stuff that makes me feel like I’m actually alive.
This photo serves as a gentle reminder of the idea that, no matter how powerless we feel, each day we have the power to change our future. The choices we make today will cause a ripple effect through the rest of our lives. Every day, we are choosing from a series of possible futures, whether we realize it or not.
Title taken from a fantastic article written by Derek Sivers. If you haven’t read any of his work yet, I highly recommend.

That little dot in the distance is my son Alexandre, racing far ahead of me as usual. It's a wonder I get any shooting done!
Hello,
I hope everyone had a great Christmas and has a great New Year. To everyone that wonders where I’ve been: I have had 3 strokes this fall and have been hospitalized 3 times. I haven’t been incapacitated but my coordination has worsened and I can’t walk properly. I don’t know if the symptoms will resolve or even if the strokes are totally finished. When I had the one, I thought it was over but it hit two more times. It’s the result of not eating properly (as you can see my posted food pics) and lots of work/life stress. I am on all my meds now and eating better, so I hope it works out.
If I am not back on again, I’d like to thank everyone who has been a friend/contact here. I’ve had a good 15 years on here. Hopefully, my symptoms will resolve by the time spring travel gets here and I can continue. If not, this will be my farewell but I will leave everything up.
Thanks and God bless.

Wisconsin’s largest Halloween festival. I don’t do festivals and generally avoid any crowded place as much as possible, but if I had to pick one festival to go to, it would definitely be this one. Mike and I really admired the mural for it!
There's not many places that stay much the same as 10 years ago,and still possible to repeat a similar shot ,but Kings Sutton falls into that category .Going back to 24/Aug/2014 ,66504 passes by working 4M62 Southampton to Hams Hall, still repeatable nowadays with a liner.

WHAT do YOU think? Possibly the most controversial blogpost I've ever done.
I expect this blogpost is going to ruffle a few feathers: npirl.blogspot.com/2009/05/is-second-life-theatre-of-absu... His vid includes many of SLs best known builds, but you have to watch it all the way through.
After an MCS swept over Bouse, intense lightning barraged the area. Visions of blinding staccatos and bright orange landing points still fill my head. Rain was falling—shooting handheld from as far inside the window as possible. A few shots didn't come out shaky.
Possible cover page for a story I'm writing. The guy accidentally touches a diseased plant and it ends up transforming his vision. He attempts telling his wife of the visions he now sees but, something is holding her back in believing him.

Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams.
Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential.
Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do.

Almost the end of the year...
Makayla's breakfast of champions these days consists of Cheerios sprinkled with a generous portion of All Bran Buds (more generous if we want to encourage the potty training). Makayla is definitely making friends with fiber. William Shatner would be proud.
Heather corrected me - apparently I (not her) took this shot a few weeks ago... I *really* like it!
Okay, now for my reason why I love flickr so much.
I'll try to make a long story short as possible. Back in mid-June before I had to leave for Oregon unexpectedly I had my annual mammogram. While in Oregon I received a call from my doctor that my mammogram showed a spot and I need to get another mammogram and an ultrasound immediately. Holy Crap! Okay, so here I am in Oregon my father is dying and now this. So I made arrangements to go to a local hospital and get my second mammogram and ultrasound done there (I would have to pay out of pocket w/no insurance coverage); however, in the meantime my father passes away and I'm dealing with that. So one week later I go to have my mammogram in Oregon only to find out my physician in Hilo did not send the proper documents even though I signed all the release papers and the womens center sent my doctor two written requests. So hell, I can't get my follow up because the office that said it should not wait - screwed up the paperwork so I could not get it done. Go figure! The Oregon hospital refused my appointment without the previous films to compare! Okay, so now I have to wait until I return to Hawaii which I knew at that time it would be weeks as I was planning my fathers funeral, dealing with all the paperwork and details, packing up his belongings, etc.
This is where flickr comes in. Although I did not have my own computer there, whenever I could get my hands on one I would go to flickr and check out my friends photos that would put a smile on my face. As soon as I landed back in Hawaii I had 4 days of waiting until my appointment - I spent as much of those days online in flickr as my computer would allow - I had so many computer problems until 7 pm this evening, it was difficult but it kept my mind off the situation facing me.
Good news to report - I am fine and do not need a biopsy (this year). I went through this last year and needed a biopsy - absolutely the scariest time of my entire life but thank goodnes it was negative. My mother had it, her mother had it - so...
Anyway, that's why I love flickr - it's therapeutic in so many ways you cannot imagine!

Another shot from my visit to a local kestrel nest.
I was lucky enough to come across this nest site close to a main road. The verge was an ideal place to park so that I could use the car as a mobile hide, so as to be as unobtrusive as possible.
Hidden in the car the birds seemed unaware of my presence allowing me to watch them behaving naturally.

"Oh, my life is changing everyday
In every possible way
And my dreams it's never quiet as it seems
Never quiet as it seems
I know I've felt like this before
But now I'm feeling it even more
Because it came from you
And then I open up and see
The person falling here is me
A different way to be
I want more, impossible to ignore
Impossible to ignore
And they'll come true, impossible not to do
Impossible not to do
And now I tell you openly
You have my heart so don't hurt me
You're what I couldn't find
A totally amazing mind
So understanding and so kind
You're everything to me
Oh, my life is changing every day
In every possible way
And my dreams it's never quiet as it seems
'Cause you're a dream to me, dream to me ...."
Soo Line SD60 6052 was parked outside of Bensenville's iconic engine facility when open access was possible as long as you didn't shuffle around the power into a better photo angle by yourself.
That happened on many occasions which led to a crackdown on railfan infiltration for photos.
The house walls form open and closed angles, it is possible?

If you can't come up with characters, don’t waste your time and leave them alone. It is always possible to create a story without minifigures in the frame. This is exactly what I did when I took a vacation-themed photo to support a contest on @brickcentral
Never be afraid to give the viewer the opportunity to dream up and finish the plot on their own. Build the scenery and place hints with parts and accessories. Who are these people who rest here? What are they talking about behind the scenes? Can you smell the pool water still churning after someone's jump? Just imagine a relaxing saturday evening by the pool.
Excerpt from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fukuyama_Castle:
Fukuyama Castle (福山城, Fukuyama-jō), sometimes called Hisamatsu Castle (久松城, Hisamatsu-jō) or Iyō Castle (葦陽城, Iyō-jō) was the castle of the Bingo-Fukuyama Han during the Edo period of Japanese history. The grounds of the castle have been designated a National Historic Site since 1964. The castle is located in Fukuyama Park in Fukuyama, Hiroshima near Fukuyama Station.
Fukuyama Castle is located at a hill in the center of Fukuyama city. Prior to the Edo Period, this area was a large tidal flat. The Sanyōdō highway, which connects the Kinai region with Kyushu, ran to the north of the modern city center, and Tomonoura, a port on the Seto Inland Sea from the Heian period, was to the south. The main power center for Bingo Province was at Kannabe Castle to the northeast. After the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600, Fukushima Masanori was awarded control of both Aki Province and Bingo Province; however, in 1619, the Tokugawa shogunate used the pretext that he had made repairs to Hiroshima Castle without permission to seize a portion of his domain, awarding a 100,000 koku portion of Bingo Province to Tokugawa Ieyasu's cousin, Mizuno Katsunari. Katsunari had an outstanding military record and it was expected that he would act as a bulwark on the Sanyōdō highway against possible rebellion by the powerful tozama daimyō of western Japan, such as the Mōri clan. Mizuno found that Kannabe Castle was located in a narrow mountain valley and was inconvenient both to manage his domain and to defend against attack, some received a special exception from the shogunate's "one domain - one castle" rule to build a new castle and castle town on reclaimed land. Construction started in 1619 and was completed in 1622.
The new Fukuyama Castle occupied a hill with a length of 400 meters and width of 200 meters. The inner bailey occupies the southern half of the hill, and contains a five-story tenshu at its northern edge. The southern edge was protected by two yagura turrets. The Fushimi yagura was a white three-story structure transferred from abolished Fushimi Castle in Kyoto. The Tsukumi yagura has a red handrail balcony. Between these two yagura is the main gate of the castle, also transferred from Fushimi Castle.
The secondary bailey occupied the north half of the hill, and outer bailey surrounded south half of the hill. Fukuyama Castle had seven three-story yagura and 15 smaller yagura, and tall stone walls, and was surrounded by water moats, connected by canal to the Seto Inland Sea.
The Mizuno clan was replaced by the Abe clan was rulers of Fukuyama Domain in 1698 and governed to the Meiji restoration. Although the various Abe daimyō played important political roles in the administration of the shogunate, they seldom visited the domain in person. During the Boshin War, Fukuyama Castle was attacked by the Chōshū army in January 1868, but the domain defected to the Imperial side and the castle was spared destruction.
After the Meiji Restoration, most of the buildings except for the tenshu and a number of yagura were demolished. The castle grounds became a public park. In 1931, the tenshu was designed a "National Treasure" under the former Cultural Properties Protection Law. However, the tenshu burned down during World War II. Much of outer areas of the castle grounds disappeared due to the construction of railways and urban development. Fukuyama Station was built directly adjacent to the inner bailey of the castle and the tenshu can be seen clearly from its platforms.

I think this is just steam but I played with it a bit to make it purty (if that is possible). Beauty can be found in most things if you just stop, listen, breathe and look around you.
I actually spotted this place on street view, and went to go see it for myself. And from what I can tell, I think this place was a sod home? What do you think? I can’t quite tell if the bricks are, well, brick, or if they’re made of earth or mud and dried. I’m sad to see it falling down but glad I found it when I did! Just look up “sod house” and see what I mean. It’s similar, at least. This place was clearly posted so I couldn’t go further than these photos, unfortunately.

It's already Wednesday? Woo! I hope you're all having a good one...and if you haven't had a smile yet...just watch this video, I got a good giggle out of it. Hope it makes you smile.
Not too sure of the bird species
Birds with leucism do not have the typical, classic plumage colours listed in field guides or seen in most photos. Instead, the plumage may have several colour changes.
Few times a year this shot is possible.
The conditions have to perfect. The pool of water dries up very quickly and this place is always to windy for mirror reflection.
So when i drive past this place like this and have my camera with me i always try and make the shot.
The mountain is called Vífilfell and is located just outside of Reykjavík
