I love gates and doorways…

This was taken at Athelhampton House in Dorset last month. It was the main entrance to the house which was behind me.

It’s a straightforward zoom ICM of a view into another reality…

Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy 100x :)

....to the missing mountain. It is hard not to agree with my Wife's suggestion that this looks like a 'portal to somewhere unwordly'. In fact this rather impressive fogbow, only the second I've seen, formed after we drove the length of Loch Glascarnoch for the 3rd time and had stopped to capture a snow-topped mountain appearing through the mist. In the few minutes it took me to wander down to the loch shore the fog had completely enveloped the scene. A small break behind me allowed sufficient sunlight to create the bow effect and the calm water permitted a reflection to create the full halo.

Waiting for our gone loved-ones in these special days. El día de los Muertos, or The Day of the Dead in Mexico, is celebrated on November 1st and 2nd, when we honor the memory of our beloved ones who have left this World, to continue its path.

We built altars where we put their favorite drink or food, with candles, and this special flowers, cempasúchil, that guide them with its scent.

Ohhhhh..."

16R emerges out of the East Portal of the Hoosac Tunnel on a cold January morning.

If you get tired of the view, just transport somewhere else.

Portal: This is a really, really big arch or natural bridge. Those “bushes” under the arch are actually big trees. This was a fun experiment in Low Level Lighting. It’s so large that it took multiple lights to light it evenly. There are 2 hidden light under the structure and one out of the frame to the left. When structures are this large it is hard to get the lights out of the frame and still get some light along the under surface. So some light end up being in the frame and need to be hidden to avoid hot spots. This took multiple repositioning of the lights and lots of trial photos. This was not all that much of a problem though, since the Milky Way did not get into the desired position until almost 4 am so we had lots of time to play with the lighting. It was a fun challenge! Could we have just taken the photo without lights? Sure, but where’s the fun in that, lol! Panorama (did I mention that it’s really big?), 14-24 mm lens, 14 mm, 25 seconds, f/2.8, ISO 10,000.

Have you ever felt like you don't have enough time......i created my own time portal ;)

The oldest city gate of Valencia. Built in 1400 and was part of the Arab defensive wall.

By Dan Gather. This is a very cool steel and glass box perfectly positioned on the back balcony of the Whitney to pick up ships that pass on the Hudson River. I don’t think you can take a bad picture of it.
