The Flame-rumped Tanager occurs from western Panama south through Colombia to western Ecuador. This is a sociable bird, being typically found in monospecific flocks, which inhabit shrubby semi-open areas.

At the little Romanesque church at Hjälmseryd, which was originally built in the 12th century. It was replaced as a parish church in the middle of the 19th century and soon became severely dilapidated. But in the 1920s an interest in the old church building (by then completely in runis) started to take shape and money was collected to rebuild it. The church was reconstructed to its medieval form [though hardly its original 12th century form, the sacristy (here seen to the far right) was surely originally built later during the Middle Ages]. Some of the original inventory was also restored to the church -unfortunately the church was locked at the time of my visit so I couldn't see them.
This portal is a reconstruction - but it incorporates original, medieval elements.
I caught up with a couple of mates this morning to check out Sydney’s Sculptures By The Sea.
For those of you reading this abroad, Sculptures By The Sea is an outdoor exhibition event held along the cliffs of Bondi, Bronte and Tamarama beach in Sydney’s eastern suburbs each year.

The Palm Tanager is one of the most widespread and familiar birds of the neotropics, from Nicaragua south to southern Brazil. They are common at forest borders, but also occur in the canopy of the interior of forest. As the name suggests, Palm Tanagers often are associated with palm trees, but by no means are they restricted to living in palms.

I remember taking this pic a couple of years ago. I was actually sitting in a parking lot, waiting for my brother to come out to the car, when the sky opened up like some kind of portal to heaven! I was entranced by the beauty of it, and took many shots, hoping to capture the splendor of it, but not a single one quite nailed it. Even with processing, what I saw in person far outshone the image my camera and I could render, but it's still beautiful.
The Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom) is the most visited landmark in Germany and the tallest twin-spired church in the world. It.s construction began in 1248, but was completed only in 1880 in accordance to with it's original medieval plan.

Today I want to show you this shot taken out of town, here not far from home, in the Euganean hills. When I go through Valsanzibio, a town in Galzignano Terme, I like to stop at Villa Barbarigo. Taken a few days ago, in all the splendor of autumn light.
