Hall Green station looks fairly similar now, the main building is intact with the original canopy and that timber shed next to the "Gents" has gone to be replaced by a well tended flower bed. Peters platform has fared less well, the building behind the lady with the beehive hair-do was demolished and the replacement is a bus shelter. This was done at the time the line was slated for closure Hall Green and Yardley wood suffered but Shirley was spared.
By the bridge is a mechanical signal, the box is behind Peter. Leaning against the spear fencing the gardener has left his rake, the running in board has one of the rock edged flower beds. Today the platforms have neat planters and they are filled with well tended plants, volunteers of course.
A Tyseley based Derby class 116 is working to Birmingham in this view.

Peter visited Tyseley depot in September 1968, during his time there and probably to escape the crush of people trying to see Flying Scotsman he wandered up to the carriage sidings. There he photographed D1020 Western Hero which had arrived with a rail tour.
D1020 was built at Swindon and entered traffic 21/05/1963. It had only Western Region AWS fitted and it was also just vacuum braked which, along with D1017/18/19 lead to them being withdrawn in the Summer of 1973, it was considered too expensive to fit them with dual AWS & dual brakes. Looking at the picture the locomotive had an unusual windscreen wiper and washer fitted. It was withdrawn 04/06/1973 and cut 17/04/1974.

As said before, the room is far from being finished. My goal is to make a perfect little room for a perfect little girl with a vintage 50s/60s look. I plan to make other furniture myself, but later, lol. I think it will be a room for Betsy McCall (as I also plan to 'reproduce' her whole wardrobe from the paper dolls) but I don't know yet if I will use the Tonner's Tiny Betsy or an other doll that would become my OOAK Betsy :)
