Marines fire rounds downrange during Combat Pistol Program qualification training and firing at the Puuloa Range Training Facility in Ewa Beach, Hawaii, April 30. The new pistol program will replace annual pistol training and is more combat-oriented than the pistol qualification previously implemented.

First time building a life-size firearm; was an interesting challenge.
Built for the Decisive Action 3 war-game, on MOCpages. Likes there give a build more power in the game, so if you have an account and you like the build, I’d highly appreciate it if you would rate it over on MOCpages. More pics over there.

This pistol is being worn by the same person that wore the spurs in yesterday's post. This photo from San Antonio was taken last Saturday on the photowalk organized by Kirk Tick.

Local Austin Photographers: I just finished a review of Precision Camera's prints vs Costco and Bay Photo. This is a followup on the first test I did last week.

Sex Pistols, ‘Pretty Vacant’, 1977. Another classic. The sleeve by Jamie Reid still mesmerising. It’s hard to convey how big an impact the Pistols had at the time…

I've always said, I thought the Sex Pistols was more Music Hall than anything else - because I think that really, more truths are said in humour than any other form. John Lydon

Decided to let these be part of my NationStates-thing.

When I was in the Sex Pistols, I listened to Boston. But I couldn't tell anybody, you know. I'd get lynched. Steve Jones
The Pistoleers is the new project me and Ben Petrucci have started, to shoot all the bands in town. First up, The Half Sisters, a great young band who are going to be so famous you'll remember seeing them here first. The queens of kooky, they are so much fun you can't help but smile when they take to the stage (or the pavement, they're master buskers). They're all about 18 and are indeed (half) sisters. They're playing Beachdown and SOURCE Fest 2 at Audio on 29th August (free entry).

We had family in from out of town this week. We went from shooting their newborn baby on a black backdrop to him holding his piece. What a transition! I just posted it without any post processing.

This is another firearm that technically belongs to my uncle but may very well be mine soon.
This .22 pistol is made by High Standard Mfg. out of Connecticut and is the "Sport King" model with a 10-round magazine. The company went out of business in 1984, I believe. They are supposed to be a quality weapon with good accuracy. It originally belonged to my cousin and went to my uncle when my cousin died (the same cousin who made my knife).
Apparently, my uncle did not worry too much about gun care as this was maybe the dirtiest weapon I have ever cleaned. It is dirty in the photo; I just spent over two hours taking it apart and cleaning and lubricating it. It is ready to shoot, but I'm going to wait until we are out of triple-digit heat before I go out to shoot.
The Branwen is a light combat mecha is built for agility and speed at the cost of defense. Hidden jet boosters on its back, legs, and hips allow the Branwen to rush and dance around the battlefield and even hover for a short duration. Using its Laser Pistols to weaken opponents from range and its deadly Plasma Blade to dispatch even the toughest mechs, the Branwen's speedy, deadly efficiency is a force to be feared.
The pistols can mounted on hidden ports on the Branwen's hips for hands free shooting. The Plasma Blade has integrated jets to guide the blade when thrown, always returning it to it's owner. The Pistols and Blade can be holstered on the Branwen's back, just below the cockpit hatch.
Pilot: Magdalen Azalea
Weapons: Armor Piercing Laser Pistols, Plasma Sword
Abilities: Sword Throw, Hip Fire
Build Notes:
And this one took a while, but hey! It's done! Finally got back into the good old hobby. I'm very happy with how this mecha turned out, which is kind of surprising since I forgot to include the cockpit until right at the end of the build. Also, I worked backwards against my normal design philosophy, starting with the frame instead of the weapon; so that was fun! Some parts of this are a little delicate (the sword and holstering system), but overall the Branwen is super poseable and expressive. Hopefully that is captured well here. I tried to focus more on this alien concept of "color blocking." I plan to improve that in future projects. You can thank Chubbybots (Strelitzia's head) and Hafynx (Kardymis's Pistol) for inspiration for the head and pistol designs here. As always, feedback is appreciated!
A British Army issue Sig Sauer 9mm pistol carried by a soldier on a firing range in the Jordanian desert.
Soldiers from 4 Mechanized Brigade’s Brigade Reconnaissance Force (4 Bde BRF) took part in Exercise Jordan Express. The exercise in the south of Jordan was based in the desert and was intended to prepare the BRF in readiness for a future deployment to Afghanistan.
Over 120 troops took part in the exercise which lasted approximately 4 weeks and involved various Mission Specific Training (MST) in readiness for their deployment in 2010. The arduous and demanding exercise involved several range packages, mines awareness training, physical training, reconnaissance training and signals training, as well as more conventional infantry training.
4 Bde are based in Catterick, North Yorkshire, and are due to replace 11 Bde in March/April 2010 for Herrick 12. This will be 4 Bde’s first tour of Afghanistan, they will be lead by Brigade Commander Brigadier Richard Felton.
