I just felt
Don't know why
Something is there
We can't deny
Ooh, when I first knew
Was when I first looked at you
And if I
Can't find my way
If salvation
Seems miles away
Oh, I'll be found
When I'm lost in your eyes

A shot of a water bottle reflecting flickr from my pc monitor.
An idea probably subconciously inspired by Jane In Colours excellent work on Cross Polarisation (set) (please check it out if you haven't already!) .
I have also experimented with light through plastic water bottles (with water in them) in one of my earlier (Flickr infancy) shot CD Water Drops #2.

sooc.
well doesn't this look familiar?
no good unless you view here
Can you guess the movie?:
When you're young, everything feels like the end of the world.
But it's not.
It's just the beginning.
You might have to meet a few jerks,
but one day,
you're gonna meet a boy
who treats you the way you deserve to be treated.
Like the sun rises and sets with you.
Ok, so the real reason I uploaded this is because i was tagged by sara.kross. She's amazing! Check out her stream! I love all her photos so much :)
I know I did this before, but I've changed a lot since then. I thought I'd be a little more serious with this one and answer some questions i've gotten in my flickrmail. Maybe even ask you a few...hmmm?
1. I got the question "why don't you upload more pictures of yourself?" The answer to that is actually really simple. It's because I don't have a remote and I get tired of the ten second dash and the inability for my camera to focus is i'm not standing there the whole time. But hopefully, Christmas will be the time to fix that problem...
2. Someone also asked me where I got the models. My models are actually just friends from school. I live in an area where it seems like everyone is super skinny and gorgeous so it's not hard to find someone who looks like one, but i really love taking photos of girls that don't have that perfect body. I just wish that people would find a photo of someone they considered unattractive to be just as interesting as the ones of someone they do.
3. Another question was do you want to do this professionally. Um...i don't know yet...I know I probably wouldn't do it full time, even though I would like too. But my mom doesn't particularly approve of being a photographer, so i think i really want to be a third or fourth grade teacher and maybe take pictures during the summer?
Here come the facts and questions for you...
4. I'm adopted. Now tell me an interesting fact about you.
5. I greatly enjoy photography because the view from my side of the lens is only my own and no one else can see through it unless I allow them to through the photograph. What's your favorite part about photography?
6. I love love love getting together with other photographers and attempting to see their visions. I would love to do more of this (anyone live around here?). Do you prefer to work by yourself or with someone? Not necessarily in photography, just in general.
7. Music is a good escape for me. I love the sound of acoustics. In fact, I play/played the acoustic guitar. Not so much anymore, but I still play the piano quite often. Who/what's your favorite type of music, artist, etc.
8. Wow this is long. When I was reading through it I know I only read the bold parts. Are you only reading the parts that are bolded?
9. For Christmas, I would like a remote, money, a new journal for my overflowing quote book, a new living translation bible, and an air freshener for my car. It smells like something died in the back seat. Even if something did, i wouldn't notice because my car is so messy. For example, in my trunk, there is a cot, a guitar, a ton of fake flowers, lots of schoolwork, glitter, an easter basket, a basketball, costume jewelry, a fiddler on the roof record, a cowboy hat, lots and lots of clothes, etc. Seriously, there is a LOT of stuff in my car. So I have two questions...What do you want for Christmas? and What's weird in your car?
10. I enjoy solitude almost more than I enjoy being with people. I'm usually happier with people, but it doesn't give me time to think. Would you rather be alone in this world or constantly surrounded by people?
If you haven't entered my print giveaway, enter now! :))
There's a whole year of my life, captured in photographs. There it is. It seemed like such a daunting task at the start, but so very exciting. Things like that are probably the best, though. Things so potentially scary, you just have to go for it, and you know that you're going to finish it, know that you have what it takes to see it through. I've stumbled along the way, I've taken some bad, no, terrible photos, I've missed a few days, but I've tried my hardest to make up for them. There aren't 365 photos in the group though, due to some files having multiple days in, and there are two images I haven't uploaded yet. So there should be 361 in total.
Looking back through the images is so strange. They bring back a lot of memories. Good ones, bad ones. A lot of good ones, though. Snow Day. Seeing so many bands that I love, such as The Flaming Lips, Amanda Palmer, Queens of The Stone Age, Rage Against The Machine, Patrick Wolf, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Nine Inch Nails, Mogwai, Mono, Holy Fuck, Adam Green, Animal Collective, Seasick Steve, and that's just to name a few. Photographing my friends for my University coursework. Hanging out and relaxing with the people I love. Kissing someone for the first time. You probably know who you are. I hope you do.
I can pretty much remember how I felt when I took each photo.
Then, there were also the times where I had too much work to take a decent photo. Where I had done something stupid and didn't know how to make it better (this probably happened more times then it should have done). Bad times. But I cannot stress how much of a fantastic year I've had, really. So much fun. I've made some amazing friends that I probably don't deserve, and kept old friendships going strong.
I was going to try and summarise all of my photos into sections, but there's just too much variety to do that. So here are a few:
I've used ten different cameras. I'm in about sixty of the photos. There are ten shoe/foot photos (so much less than I thought there would be). About seventy one shots are of my friends. Fifty three were shot on film. A bunch were of animals <3. I've broken two lenses in the space of one year.
I've had so much fun doing this project. I don't think it would have been so good if it wasn't for the constant encouragement from my family and friends, both online and offline. This project was as much about me as it was about the people around me. If you've given me positive or negative criticism, feedback, been a model, been an inspiration, helped me with an idea or even just briefly commented on one of my photos in passing, then I cannot thank you enough.
I think I've written too much. I don't really mind. This project has been a major part of my life for an entire year. There is a bug on the inside of my laptop screen.
Here are ten of my favourite photos from my year:
Three Studies for Figures at the Base of a Crucifixion
We Shall Call Him The Man With No Face
I'm well aware that there are twelve choices there. I like them too much.
Right, time for a rest. See you soon, Flickr.

For the benefit of anyone who reads this, Miranda and I are not on good terms. I just thought it would be nice to say thanks to someone who helped me along the way at the start, even though we're not on good terms now
The Night Porter... As U Like IT
Considered The Most Controversial Picture Of Our Time!
Set in 1957 Vienna, Liliana Cavani's film, The Night Porter is a disturbing, mesmerizing drama that viewers seem either to love or loathe. To be sure, this is not a film for everyone. Its subject matter is dark and difficult. The fascinating, if twisted, story is about the revival of an intense relationship that had started in a Nazi concentration camp – between Max, an SS officer and Lucia, one of the inmates.
Max is now, in 1957, a night porter in a hotel – the hotel that Lucia happens to visit with her. But when, at the opera, he looks at Lucia, and Lucia cannot resist turning her head to meet his gaze (and at a point in the opera where the words being sung are about how love sweetens troubles and all creatures sacrifice to love), Max, too, is drawn inexorably.
Despite what some reviewers seem to think, The Night Porter is absolutely not a skin flick, and nor is it a Nazi exploitation flick. It is a film about a relationship. It is about the power of a human connection and a little tenderness in an extreme situation – and about the power of extreme situations to create passion. It is about how intoxicating relationships having an element of control/power can be – and how intoxicating a mixture violence and loving tenderness can be. It is perhaps a warning about the all-consuming and potentially self-destructive power of an intense relationship.
The Night Porter has some very memorable scenes, and the acting of the main characters is superb. The subtlety and complexity of Charlotte Rampling's Lucia is staggering. It could have been played so badly, but Charlotte Rampling had the courage and the insight and the ability to give a breathtakingly brilliant performance, conveying strength as well as vulnerability, peacefulness as well as terror, intense desire as well as numbness, power and control as well as submission, lightness as well as darkness, heaven as well as hell.
Liliana Cavani has an eye for psychologically difficult and tension-increasing juxtapositions. In one scene, we hear Mozart's pure and heavenly music about the higher purpose of love and man and wife, while a concentration camp guard buggers a male prisoner, presumably not entirely consensually! In another scene, there is the eroticism of a topless dance together with the ghastly truth that the woman is dancing for the concentration camp guards who hold her and may one day execute her. In another, there is extreme violence mixed with passionate love.

How cool is this!
This morning I had the honour of driving this beauty through the streets of Blyth Ontario, as part of the FFAO's (Fire Fighters Association of Ontario) annual convention.
This is a 1949 Mack, purchased by the City of Milwaukee and began its service on February 28, 1949. This truck answered thousands of fire calls and was taken out of service in September 1997, and used at a driving school until 1986. From 1986 to 1996 the truck rested in a private museum.
Today, Milwaukee Engine 25 rests in another private museum in southwestern Ontario.
Today*s 2009 Challenge, Day 284: VIOLET.
I didn't feel like getting dressed and going out!! My feet they are still soar, I am preparing for the little fall exhibit where I work or simply laziness, but I had some ideas of what I'll do, besides the challenge was posted late!!
Well, you guessed it!! My sleepy head Amber shows up for a visit and her car seat has violet/purple fabric, I said "don't move her, please!!" grabbed my camera and click click got me few shots!! My two daughters and Susan (Amber's mom) as if rehearsed cried in unison outloud and laughing, "drama queen at work!!!", I smiled and said "Girls, YOU cook lunch/supper!! You could hear their jaws dropping!!! Saweeet!!! Took my sleepy Amber and my two sleepy puppies and moved to my living room/office little corner and voila!!!
Amber saved my day from cooking and gave me subject for photochallenge!! I hear the chatting and cooking, smells good I am sure the menu is: lemon chicken marinated from last night , rice pilaf, salad and cheese ravioli with white sauce.
Now that this is done, I better get ready for printing few fall photos!!!
Thanks for stopping by and commenting!!

Originally named Misión San Antonio de Valero, the Alamo served as home to missionaries and their Indian converts for nearly seventy years. Construction began on the present site in 1724. In 1793, Spanish officials secularized San Antonio's five missions and distributed their lands to the remaining Indian residents. These men and women continued to farm the fields, once the mission's but now their own, and participated in the growing community of San Antonio.
San Antonio and the Alamo played a critical role in the Texas Revolution. In December 1835, Ben Milam led Texian and Tejano volunteers against Mexican troops quartered in the city. After five days of house-to-house fighting, they forced General Martín Perfecto de Cós and his soldiers to surrender. The victorious volunteers then occupied the Alamo — already fortified prior to the battle by Cós' men — and strengthened its defenses.
On February 23, 1836, the arrival of General Antonio López de Santa Anna's army outside San Antonio nearly caught them by surprise. Undaunted, the Texians and Tejanos prepared to defend the Alamo together. The defenders held out for 13 days against Santa Anna's army. William B. Travis, the commander of the Alamo sent forth couriers carrying pleas for help to communities in Texas. On the eighth day of the siege, a band of 32 volunteers from Gonzales arrived, bringing the number of defenders to nearly two hundred. Legend holds that with the possibility of additional help fading, Colonel Travis drew a line on the ground and asked any man willing to stay and fight to step over — all except one did. As the defenders saw it, the Alamo was the key to the defense of Texas, and they were ready to give their lives rather than surrender their position to General Santa Anna. Among the Alamo's garrison were Jim Bowie, renowned knife fighter, and David Crockett, famed frontiersman and former Congressman from Tennessee.
The final assault came before daybreak on the morning of March 6, 1836, as columns of Mexican soldiers emerged from the predawn darkness and headed for the Alamo's walls. Cannon and small arms fire from inside the Alamo beat back several attacks. Regrouping, the Mexicans scaled the walls and rushed into the compound. Once inside, they turned a captured cannon on the Long Barrack and church, blasting open the barricaded doors. The desperate struggle continued until the defenders were overwhelmed. By sunrise, the battle had ended and Santa Anna entered the Alamo compound to survey the scene of his victory.
Texans consider the Alamo to be hallowed ground and a shrine to liberty. It is the most popular attraction in San Antonio. Several Hollywood movies have been made depicting the "Battle of the Alamo" and the phrase "Remember the Alamo" is still used in conjunction with this site

Another summer day
Has come and gone away
In Paris and Rome
But I wanna go home
Mmmmmmmm
May be surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel all alone
I just wanna go home
Oh, I miss you, you know
And I’ve been keeping all the letters that I wrote to you
Each one a line or two
“I’m fine baby, how are you?”
Well I would send them but I know that it’s just not enough
My words were cold and flat
And you deserve more than that
Another aeroplane
Another sunny place
I’m lucky, I know
But I wanna go home
Mmmm, I’ve got to go home
Let me go home
I’m just too far from where you are
I wanna come home
And I feel just like I’m living someone else’s life
It’s like I just stepped outside
When everything was going right
And I know just why you could not
Come along with me
'Cause this was not your dream
But you always believed in me
Another winter day has come
And gone away
In even Paris and Rome
And I wanna go home
Let me go home
And I’m surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel all alone
Oh, let me go home
Oh, I miss you, you know
Let me go home
I’ve had my run
Baby, I’m done
I gotta go home
Let me go home
It will all be all right
I’ll be home tonight
I’m coming back home

It was probably one of the most beautiful winter-days I've ever seen yesterday. We walked to a lake - Østernvann - that was covered with ice, and the sun was just about to set behind the tree-line. The colors, the light, the pure white snow, the crisp cold air biting my nose; I literally walked around with my jaws dropped for about five minutes.
We lit a fire, made hot chocolate, and watch the sun set. This was the view from the log I was sitting on, in front of the fire. I never thought I would say this - 'cause I'm really a summer-type of person - but I'm loving winter right now. It really is magical.
I have created a 2012 calendar that's available on redbubble: here

This lovely sculpture is by the muse of Rodin, Camille Claudel. It has been widely described as a minor masterpiece and was conceived and executed while she and Rodin were lovers, though the affair ended badly and was a tragic foretelling of her future life. There was a beautiful orchestral piece of the same name written some 30 years later that expresses the piece quite well, though there is no link or view of any connected inspiration.
La Valse, un poème choréographique (a choreographic poem), is an orchestral work written by Maurice Ravel In his tribute to Ravel after the composer's death in 1937, Paul Landormy described the work as follows:
"....the most unexpected of the compositions of Ravel, revealing to us heretofore unexpected depths of Romanticism, power, vigor, and rapture in this musician whose expression is usually limited to the manifestations of an essentially classical genius".
En-route to Haystack from the summit of Warnscale. It is difficult to imagine how strong the wind was from this tranquil view! With my 6 feet 1 inch and 200 pounds frame I could lean against the wind ! :) But the climb was worth every ATP !

Once upon a time Courtney and Ashlie randomly started talking on myspace. they were both sad because they just recently lost their bestfriends because people suck. They started talking and realized they had lots in common so Ashlie was all like "Hey let's be bestfriends!" and courtney was all like "ok!" and they were bestfriends. Then they talked on the phone and stuff every day. One day Ashlie called Courtney and told her to come over and watch Twilight and she did! They hung out and were the bestest friends ever! But one day, the evil ecomony made Ashlie move to Kansas! Courtney cried and cried and the last day they saw eachother was the day this picture was taken. Courtney and Ashlie still talk almost every day. They can't wait for Ashlie to move back to Ohio so they can get an apartment together and be bestfriends again.
I love you Ashlie!
Pink hair, that's meee (:
I gave her that necklace,
she gave me that headband, which I still have!
After far too long and busy week I treated my self with an early wake up and driving to Long Reef to take some shots which last time I didn't have chance to do. Wonderful start before the rain started to spoil this morning sunrise...

I swear I must be medically unstable or something, my stream is like a jumble or different crazy people all thrown together!
We managed to find a beach this evening and watched the sun set over the mountains, I think it has to be up there with one of the most stunning views I've ever seen. Sadly, it didn't entirely distract me from the fact that there was almost a foot of snow in places behind me and I had my feet in freezing water :P
The weather was amazing today, starting to wish I could ditch England and it's lovely rain :P I seem to be permanently boiling at the moment so am skiing in a tshirt, oh and the tomato tone facial state is getting increasingly worse :/ I'm going to have to start doing bw photos soon or something haha
Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend :)

I had no idea what to do for today's SP....well, actually I didn't have much time for creativity... This morning I woke up to a car that wouldn't run... At first it looked like I need to replace the alternator...at $350+... I am also dealing with transmission problems. So the place that was looking into the alternator problem took the van over to the transmission place. At this time I do not know what the situation is with the transmission... but I do know that the alternator is alright... whew! But, let me tell you about my van... it is a 98 Dodge Caravan. I have had it since my son was 2 months old...he will be 8 next week... nearly 8 years I have had this van. In that 8 years this van has taken myself and my kids on a round trip vacation from Tennessee to Utah... and then it moved myself and my kids back to Utah in March of 2005 (wow, it is so hard to believe that it has almost been three years since I moved back to Utah). I don't recall exactly how many miles the van had on it when I bought it... something like 60,000... It now has 210,000+ miles on it. It has been a good van. A pretty reliable form of transportation. Many people ask me why I, a mother of only 2, drive a van. Well at the time I purchased it I actually had 4 kids in my family... I had 2 stepsons... we needed the space. Before I purchased my van, my oldest stepson would ask me what my dream car was...my answer was "a minivan". Seriously, it was my dream car... From the time I found out that I was pregnant with my daughter I wanted a minivan. So, yeah, my van has served its purpose and has served me well. In recent years I have put at least $2,000 dollars in it and I have said that if the transmission goes it will be time to say good bye. So today, without knowing the state of the transmission, I did go ahead and test drive some cars. I drove an Explorer (my current dream car) and a Fusion. I love both. I love the feeling of driving an SUV... the feeling of sitting higher... I do not care for the feeling of driving a car... that is until I drove the Fusion. My friend Greg just recently bought a Fusion, and I have thought it was nice to ride in...but wow! What a treat to drive one.... I love it. I do not feel like I am driving a car. The better gas mileage is a major plus...as is the fact that I can buy a newer (2007) Fusion with 5 year warranty for the same price that I can buy an older (2004) Explorer. Anyhow, I was able to drive the Fusion home for the next 2 days and get a real feel for it. Tomorrow I should hear about the transmission. If things are somewhat alright (meaning I can still drive it for a while longer before it completely goes out) I have the decision of whether to go ahead and get rid of the van or drive it to its death.... hmmm, a new car sounds so nice!
The title of this SP, "someone to look up to" is in reference to my mother. She has always been such a help to me... a major help in the past few years. When I called her and told her I was leaving my ex, she flew out to help me move...and let me tell you, if you need someone to help you move (especially in a hurry), it's my mom... she figured out ways to pack every square inch of that van... she stuffed clothing in empty spaces EVERYWHERE!!! She is there when I need her. I am very independent but it is nice to know that I can receive help from her when I need it. And today, she was able to come help me after school with getting around and going to the car dealership to look at cars. So this is to mom.... I love you. You are the greatest, you have gone through a lot in life and have never given up! I appreciate everything you are and everything you do. When I grow up, I want to be like you!
My mom is the smartest woman in the world in my eyes LOVE's to you MOM!!!

A lagoon is a body of saline water that is partially separated from the adjacent sea and which keeps a proportion of saltwater at low tide. As well as providing an important habitat for seabirds, waterfowl and marshland birds, lagoons also contain unique invertebrates and specialist plants which make this type of habitat important to the UK’s overall biodiversity.
37 acres of littoral land and saline lagoons was purchased by the Society in 1991, with assistance from English Nature (now Natural England), after almost four years of fundraising and negotiations with the land owner. This area lies immediately south of a 33 acre area, which includes Easington Lagoon, which is owned by the Environment Agency and leased to the Society. A further 22 acres of land to the direct south of the Lagoons was purchased in 2000. This package of land is know as Beacon Lagoons, though has also variously been known as Beacon Ponds, Kilnsea Lagoons and Easington Lagoons. It was initially purchased primarily because of the Society’s interest in the little tern colony situated there.
The BLNR contains a variety of coastal habitats including sand dunes, shingle, salt marsh, saline lagoons and pools. The site is situated on the Holderness coast, 2km north of the Spurn peninsula and south-west of the village of Easington. It holds SSSI designation and is a potential SPA and a proposed Ramsar site because it comprises a variety of important features including:
· Its saline lagoons, which are a UK priority Annex 1 habitat under the EC ‘Habitats Directive’
· Its importance for its colony of over 1% of the British breeding population of little terns on its shingle beach and as a feeding and roosting site for important numbers of migratory birds
· Lagoons are included as a priority feature under the UK Biodiversity Action Plan
· Plants and animals which are either mainly or entirely restricted to a lagoonal habitat. These species include flora and fauna protected under schedules 5 and 8 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act (1981).
The SHCS is responsible for the management of the BLNR, with the Spurn Bird Observatory involved in the organisation of the Little Tern Protection Scheme. A Tern warden (kindly funded by BP Exploration) is employed during the breeding season to help protect the birds against predation and from the accidental intrusion of beach users.
The water in the lagoons is strongly saline but not tidal, though storm surges may occasionally temporarily connect the lagoons with the sea. These breaches introduce marine organisms that may survive in the lagoons for several years. There is also an area of non-tidal salt marsh and some low dunes.
The main threat to the flora and fauna of the lagoons is the erosion of the beach by the North Sea and by the rise in sea levels. This ultimately threatens the site with ‘coastal squeeze’ whereby the lagoons will become tidal, eventually eliminating them altogether. It is expected the southern addition will eventually acquire a similar aspect to the present lagoons, which will prolong the life of the habitat and its associated flora and fauna.
Some vulnerable plant species such as Divided Sedge (Carex divisa) and Saltwort (Salsola Kali) occur here, along with Spiral Tasselweed (Ruppia cirrhosa) which is close to qualifying as a threatened species in the near future, and Sea Wormwood (Seriphidium maritimum) which is an Internationally important species.
Invertebrates characteristic of such lagoons as these are found here. Species include the mollusc Ventrosia ventrosa, the crustaceans Palaemonetes varians and Idotea chelipes, and the bryozoans Conopeum seurati. These are just a small example of the many different species in the lagoons.

"Never speak to a woman about her defects; many a lover has had occasion to congratulate himself on having observed this very profitable reticence. The wingèd-footed hero, Perseus, never found fault with Andromeda for her swarthy skin. Andromache was, in everyone's opinion, far too tall; Hector was the only one who considered her of the average height. Accustom yourself to the things you don't like; you'll learn to put up with them; habit makes a lot of things acceptable. At first, Love will be put off by the merest trifle. A freshly-grafted branch that is just beginning to draw the sap.
from the green bark will fall off if the slightest breath of wind disturbs it; but if you give it time to grow strong, it will soon resist the winds and, developing into a sturdy branch, enrich the tree that bears it with its alien fruit. Time effaces everything, even bodily defects, and what we once looked upon as blemishes will one day cease to seem so. At first, our nostrils cannot bear the smell of the hides of bulls; they grow used to it in time and bear it without distress.
Moreover, there are words you can employ to palliate defects. If a woman's skin is blacker than Illyrian pitch, tell her she's a brunette. If she squints a little, tell her she's like Venus. If she's carroty, tell her she's like Minerva. If she's so skinny you would think she was at death's door, tell her she has a graceful figure. If she's short, so much the better, she's all the lighter. If she's thick-waisted, why she's just agreeably plump. Similarly, you must disguise every defect under the name of its nearest quality. Never ask her how old she is, or who was consul when she was born. Leave it to the Censor to perform that uncomfortable duty, especially if she has passed the flower of her youth, if the summer of her days is over, and if she is already compelled to pull out her grey hairs. My young friends, that age, and even an older one than that, is not without its pleasures. It is a field that you should sow and one day You will reap your harvest. Labour while your strength and your youth allow. All too soon tottering eld, with noiseless tread, will be upon you. Cleave the waters of the ocean with your oar, or the glebe with your slough; wield with warlike arm the deadly sword, or devote to women your vigour and your care. ’Tis but another kind of military service, and in it, too, rich trophies may be won.
Nor should it be forgotten that women, who are getting on in years, have experience, and it is only experience that sets the seal of perfection on our natural."
Unfortunately this english translation of Ovid's ars amandi by y J. Lewis May in year 1930 is very victorian, epurated of every reference to sex. Here he talks about woman's defects instead of translating it "Believe me you must not accelerate to get the extreme pleasure". Mr. Puritan lives just in another world! I know I said I am coming to the end of my Old Tukai Elephant series but I just realised there are a few more shots I would like to share here. I think I am experiencing some kind of inertia about moving over to other animals. I still have tons of photos I like and would love to upload, but I find myself transfixed by the elephants. And Amboseli skies. Does this happen to you guys? Do any of you think back to a particular photo adventure and find it difficult to move on from it?
This photo was in my deleted pile for the longest time as I didn’t like the way the elephants are spaced out, but when I looked at it yesterday night I fell in love with it. This photo is perhaps the most moody of all my Ol Tukai photos; the swirling rain clouds and the solemn elephants present an almost stoic picture. And I love the way their tusks always seem to glow in against their dark skin. Ironic isn’t it, their most impressive asset is also their most cursed
Fall colours at Deer Lake in Burnaby near Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
About this photo: Fall is my favourite season and that season starts tomorrow! I am so excited and can't wait for the leaves to change colours soon. In the mean time I will share a photo I took last year around mid October at beautiful Deer Lake in Burnaby near Vancouver. This place is only about 10-15 minute drive from my place, so I will be checking it out over there frequently and hope that the colours will be as vibrant this year as well.

Some information on Deer Lake Park: Burnaby is a city which belongs to the Greater Vancouver area and is about 10-15 minutes from downtown Vancouver. Deer Lake is a relaxing 5 kilometre/3 mile walk around an urban lake just outside of Vancouver. The walking trail around the lake is good any time of year and is very popular with dog walkers in and around Burnaby. Trails in the park lead to a kids playground, washrooms, a boat launch and picnic tables. In the summer months Deer Lake Boat Rentals offers canoe, kayak and pedal boat rentals. Gas or electric motors are not allowed on this lake.
Deer Lake is also home to the Burnaby Art Gallery, Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, Burnaby Village Museum and Century Gardens. The Burnaby Art Gallery manages the City of Burnaby's permanent art collection while the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts is a multi-purpose community arts facility providing public exhibitions, performances, festivals and art classes. The Burnaby Village Museum depicts life in the area from the 1920's. They have reconstructed 31 full scale buildings over 10 acres, with staff in costumes like in the 1920's.
Deer Lake Park is a great place for outdoor activities and cultural life in Burnaby. Whether you want to visit an art gallery or see an outdoor concert, Deer Lake Park is the place you will find it. Your kids will love the park for the beach, the playground, the water activities and the Burnaby Village Museum. In the summer months the park comes alive with outdoor concerts and lake activities and in the off season it is a relaxing park to go for a quiet walk around the scenic trails.

Oh yes, me too, today a moonshot to remember the 40th anniversary of the landing on the moon.
When it happened I was still on the moon to collect some beans before I was born one year later.
This spectacle was the reason, my parents bought a television.
The scenery you see here is the library of Angkor Wat in Cambodia.
It was full moon and I waited there for the sunrise.
Amazing place to see the moon going down and the sun going up.

Excerpt from fpf.ccidahk.gov.hk/en/location/detail.php?id=76:
Tsuen Wan Jockey Club Tak Wah Park was designed along the classical Chinese garden theme. The park, with an area of about 1.63 hectares, is located in Tsuen Wan town centre. Being a Chinese-style garden that is rarely found in Tsuen Wan, Tak Wah Park provides a fine place for relaxation in the bustling town area. Sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, construction works of the park were carried out in 2 phases. Phase I was completed in 1989, while Phase II was completed in 1995. Modelled on the setup of a classical Chinese garden, the park has rock mountains made from Taihu rock, thick foliage, ornamental lakes, ancient village houses, a "pai lau", stone bridge, a stone boat, a pavilion and a verandah. A "Chess Garden" was built in the park, where giant stone-carved pieces of Chinese chess are used to display the endgame for the deliberation of chess lovers. In addition, there are 2 theme gardens in the park, namely, "Camellia Garden" and "Herb Garden", where different species of Camellia and herb are grown. Tak Wah Gallery and Environmental Resources Centre are converted from ancient village houses on the site. They are managed by Leisure and Cultural Services Department and Environmental Protection Department respectively.

ENGLISH
The Common Chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes), also known as the Robust Chimpanzee, is a great ape. The name troglodytes, Greek for 'cave-dweller', was coined by Johann Friedrich Blumenbach in his Handbuch der Naturgeschichte (Handbook of Natural History) published in 1779. Colloquially, it is often called the chimpanzee (or simply 'chimp'), though technically this term refers to both species in the genus Pan: the Common Chimpanzee and the closely-related Bonobo, or Pygmy Chimpanzee.
Common Chimpanzees are found in the tropical forests and wet savannas of Western and Central Africa. They once inhabited most of this region, but their habitat has been dramatically reduced in recent years.
Human and Common Chimpanzee DNA is very similar. The DNA sequence differences between humans and chimpanzees is about thirty-five million single-nucleotide changes, five million insertion/deletion events, and various chromosomal rearrangements. Typical human and chimp protein homologs differ in only an average of two amino acids. About 30% of all human proteins are identical in sequence to the corresponding chimp protein. Duplications of small parts of chromosomes have been the major source of differences between human and chimp genetic material; about 2.7% of the corresponding modern genomes represent differences, produced by gene duplications or deletions, during the approximately four to six million years since humans and chimps diverged from their common evolutionary ancestor.

CASTELLANO

Ok now I finally took the time to process one of my favourite shots from the trip to cornwall. I usually tend to get a bit anxious when it comes to processing the shots which during vacation just looked so gorgeous and about which I was the most excited. I often fear that I don't do the scene justice with the shot and the processing. As you can guess this is not out of camera, that wouldn't have been enough for me to convey the emotions connected to this scene. It's a focusstacked DRI image. And I did a little more than usual to enhance the color contrasts between warm and cool and green and magenta.
It's such a bliss when after a clouded day the sun comes into view for sunset. I was desperately waiting for this moment since I knew it would come to bath the foreground into a warm light and give the sky a kind of ethereal look... Well might also be that this is only how the scene looked or felt for me, but I hope you guys also like it!!
cheers
