Rupit, Barcelona (Spain).
ENGLISH
Rupit and Pruit (in Catalan Rupit i Pruit) are a municipality of the region of Osona located to the northeast of the region and the east of the Sierra de Cabrera. It is integrated by two urban nuclei: Rupit and Pruit, that they were independent until year 1980. It is the last town of the province of Barcelona in the highway that unites the municipalities of Vic, capital of the region of Osona and Olot, capital of the region of the Garrotxa (Girona).
The origin of the town we found in the castle that was constructed around year 1000, replacing the one of Fàbregues, where they went constructing houses around.
In 14th century the population underwent a reduction but it recovered, arriving in 17th and 18th centuries at the maximum splendor that has never had the town. The church was possibly built between 13th and 14th centuries, and it was dedicated to San Miguel Arcángel.
Pruit already names in year 955, when it belonged to viscounts of Osona. Always there is been united to the castle and jurisdiction of Rupit.

About a woman who has lived for hundreds of thousands of years. Every one hundred years she emerges from her hiding place in the deep dark unforgiving woods to suck the soul of a young and promising man. She is weak and brittle and angry when she first arrives in what is a brand new world to her. With fear and panic and maddness in her aching heart she selects the perfect man, seduces him, and drains him of his life. And once again she is a young, strong, and gorgeous young woman with the new world at her finger tips. She will live in this world until it becomes too risky to show her unaging face. Oh, the possiblities are endless.

JEAN-BAPTISTE GODIN ( ENGLISH )
Jean-Baptiste André Godin (26 January 1817 -29 January 1888) was a French industrialist and social experimentor born on the 26th of January 1817 at Esquéhéries (Aisne).
The son of an artisan, he entered an iron-works at an early age, and at seventeen made a tour of France as journeyman. Returning to Esquéhéries in 1837, he started a small factory for the manufacture of castings for heating-stoves. The business increased rapidly, and for the purpose of railway facilities was transferred to Guise in 1846. At the time of Godin's death in 1888 the annual output was over four millions of francs (4,160,000), and in 1908 the employees numbered over 2000 and the output was over 280,000.
An ardent disciple of Charles Fourier, he advanced a considerable sum of money towards the disastrous Fourierist experiment of V. P. Considerant (q.v.) in Texas (known as La Reunion. He profited, however, by its failure, and in 1859 started the Familistère, or community settlement, of Guise on more carefully laid plans.
The Familistère forms a town within the town of Guise. It comprises, in addition to a large factory, three large buildings, each four stories high, capable of housing all the work-people, each family having two or three rooms. The main building consists of three rectangular blocks joined at the corners. Each of these blocks has a central court covered with a glass roof under which children can play in all weather. There is no church of any sort. (There are, of course, churches within the rest of Guise). At the back of the main block there was a nursery. There is a separate block, known as the "economat", containing various shops, refreshment rooms and recreation rooms of various kinds(?), stores for the purchase of groceries, drapery and every necessity. This has recently (2008) been restored and is now a cafe, a shop selling books, postcards etc and an exhibition area. There were also allotments for the workers.
Opposite the main block there was a building containing a theater for concerts and dramatic entertainments and a primary school. There was also a communal laundry and swimming pool. This was a few years ago derelict but has now been restored. The swimming pool is still a swimming poll but the laundry is a meeting room and the drying room is now (2008) an exhibition room. In 1880 the whole was turned into a co-operative society, with provision by which it eventually became the property of the workers.
Godin manufactured cookers and heating stoves of many kinds mainly made from cast iron castings. Sometimes these were enameled. These are still to be found in use all over France. They can be found for sale on eBay.
This business was still owned by the workers in the 1950s but soon after was taken over by Le Creuset. It is not obvious that the factory is still functioning. It is seems the domestic building were privatised. The state of the domestic buildings was deteriorating but has recently been awarded EU money for it to be restored.
In 1871 Godin was elected deputy for Aisne, but retired in 1876 to devote himself to the management of the Familistère. In 1882 he was created a Knight of the Legion of Honor.
Godin was the author of Solutions sociales (1871); Les Socialistes et les Droits du travail (1874); Mutualité sociale et association du capital et du travail (1880); La Republique du travail et la reforme parlementaire (1889). It was once fashionable in religious circles to say that Jesus Christ would never return to the earth. There are still plenty of professing Christians who believe that. But there are now many others who have come to believe that the Second Coming is a very important event.
Christadelphians have always taught that the Return of Jesus Christ to the earth is vital to the fulfillment of the purpose of God. This booklet reviews Bible teaching about the Second Coming, both the events that will lead up to that miracle and the reason for the Lord's Return.
New Testament Teaching
Someone has counted the New Testament references to this great event, and they number 318 occurrences! If you reflect that the number of times the word for Christian love occurs is only 115, you will begin to see the importance of this topic. Nor is it simply the case that only one or two New Testament writers refer to the matter in their writings. Treatment of the subject is widely spread.
Jesus spoke often about the Kingdom of God and his Second Coming. His parables, for example, were told to those who thought the Kingdom of God was to appear immediately. He was like a nobleman who had to go "into a far country to receive for himself a Kingdom and to return" (Luke 19:12). More than once he spoke of the Coming of the Son of Man (e.g. Matthew 24:27,30,37,39,48; 25:27; 26:64). And when he assured his disciples of his continuing spiritual, but invisible, presence "even unto the end of the world" (Matthew 28:20), he inferred that then he would be visibly present with them for ever.
The testimony of the Apostles was equally plain. They had been clearly taught by the Risen Lord who, during the forty days before his ascension into heaven, instructed them about the Kingdom of God, the restored kingdom of Israel (Acts 1:3,6). It was the opening theme of his post-resurrection appearances that all the Old Testament promises were coming to their fulfillment in him (Luke 24:27). At the time of his ascension, as he was being taken up from the Mount of Olives into the clouds, God sent His angels to explain.
"Ye men of Galilee", they said to the watching apostles, "Why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven" (Acts 1:11).
It is not therefore surprising that when the Apostles began to teach in the streets of Jerusalem, they said that their Lord Jesus Christ was to return to the earth as King. Peter gave the lead when he boldly announced that the grave could not keep Jesus imprisoned. He referred his hearers to a statement in Psalm 110:1, used also by his Lord, to show that he had gone to heaven only until his enemies have been subdued (2:34,35). Note the authoritative use of the Old Testament.
But also note a vital point. Bible teaching is never given just for the sake of informing us what happens next. It always has a deeper intention, for we are meant to use the knowledge it confers to prepare ourselves for those coming events:
"Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ . . . Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins" (Acts 2:36,38).
It should follow that our consideration of Bible truth concerning the Return of the Lord should also cause us to search our hearts.
Other New Testament Writings
But what of the writings of other New Testament authors? Let us look at just one of the New Testament letters, the First written by Paul to the Thessalonians. Notice how he centers his entire message on the truth of the personal return to the earth of the Lord:
"wait for his Son from heaven . . . which delivereth us from the wrath to come" (1:10);
"what is our hope or joy? Are not ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?" (2:19);
"he may stablish your hearts unblameable . . . at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints" (3:13);
"the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout" (4:16);
"the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night" (5:2);
"I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ" (5:23).
You could try extending this investigation, if you wish. The emphasis on the Lord's Coming continues in all the New Testament letters, but it is always related to practical Christian living. Because the Lord is coming again, there were matters in their lives that required attention! And it is so for us.
Old Testament Teaching
The same person who counted 318 references in the New Testament extended the search to the Old Testament, and discovered 1,527 such references to an event in God's purpose which can be no other than the Coming of Christ as King. Let it be clear that the exact number is unimportant; there is always room for some difference of opinion about the occasional passage. But it is perhaps startling to some readers to consider that there could be five times as many references to the Second Coming in a part of the Bible which has suffered widely from neglect over the years.
The fact of the matter is this: the New Testament can only be understood once the Old Testament has also been studied. The two Testaments belong together as interdependent parts of God's revealed truth. What the Old Testament foretells the New Testament fulfils, in part. But a very large amount of Old Testament prophecy remains unfulfilled.
Consider these promises of a King who will reign over God's Kingdom on earth, and ask yourself whether they have ever been fulfilled:
GENESIS: "Thy seed (a descendant of Abraham) shall possess the gate of his enemies; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed" (22:17,18; see Acts 3:25; Galatians 3:16).
2 SAMUEL: "And when thy days (David) be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed (descendant) after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house (a Temple) for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever" (7:12,13).
PSALMS: "The LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession" (2:7,8; see Acts 4:25,26);
"He (the promised king) . . . shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth" (72:6-8).
ISAIAH: "It shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD's house (His Temple) shall be established in the top of the mountains (at Jerusalem) . . . and all nations shall flow unto it . . . for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among the nations" (2:2-4);
"Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom, to order it and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever" (9:7);
JEREMIAH: "Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch (descendant), and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is the name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS" (23:5,6).
The Kingdom of God
Many times God has promised that He will rule the earth. What man has failed time and again to achieve, God will establish. The King will be a descendant of both Abraham and David (see Matthew 1:1). He will rule from Jerusalem, on David's throne (see Luke 1:31-33). His Kingdom will be one of justice and righteousness; it will involve Divine education, Temple worship, and the exercise of Kingly power to establish peace on earth (see Revelation 11:15-18).
The Kingdom of God was once before established on earth. King David and his descendants reigned upon the throne of the Kingdom of the Lord (1 Chronicles 28:5). There was nothing special about the throne itself. The Divine appointment was what mattered and when king after king had neglected God's law, He brought that arrangement to an end. But even when the prophet Ezekiel announced the end of the Kingdom to King Zedekiah (in 21:25-27), he promised that God would restore the Kingdom on earth when he should "come whose right it is".
The Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ to the earth has therefore to be understood against that powerful Old Testament background. When Jesus began his public ministry by announcing that the Kingdom of God was at hand (Mark 1:15), he was saying to those who knew the Old Testament promises that he was the promised King. But Jesus had first come to achieve personal righteousness, and to make it possible for others to become right with God.
It is now possible for us to find peace with God through the forgiveness of our sins, by association with the saving work of the Lord Jesus. First we have to understand the Gospel, including Bible teaching about the work and person of the Lord Jesus, and the Kingdom over which he is now the King. Then we have to be baptized as believing adults into his saving Name (see Acts 8:1 2).
Behold Your King!
But what is the Second Coming of the Lord going to be like? For example, would it be possible to miss it altogether and not even be aware that it had occurred? Will it be visible or invisible? Will Jesus be there in person or merely a spiritual presence? And will he come to the earth or only towards the earth?
Jesus Christ rose bodily from the grave. He was not an invisible spirit creature but One who could be seen, handled and held (1 John 1:1; Luke 24:39,40). His body was marked by the evidence of his suffering on the cross. Yet he was no longer subject to the limitations of human existence. He could come and go despite locked doors, and on Mount Olivet he ascended bodily to heaven, defying the law of gravity. The disciples had seen him go; he would return visibly. As the angel later said: "Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him" (Revelation 1:7). Or as Zechariah the Old Testament prophet had predicted, long before the crucifixion, "They shall look upon me whom they have pierced and they shall mourn for him" (12:10).
So it will not do to say that only those who look with faith will see the Lord. Some will look, see, and mourn (Revelation 1:7). Nor will it do to say that Jesus will come invisibly, for the Lord himself warned:
"Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets . . ." (Matthew 24:23,24).
Nor will it do to argue that the Bible talks of the presence of the Lord, meaning that it will be an invisible one. The New Testament also talks about the revelation of the Lord, using a word that means uncovering or manifesting. In fact, the presence (Greek: parousia) of the Lord turns out to be an especially suitable term. One of the most authoritative Greek Lexicons available says of the word:
"It became the official term for a visit of a person of high rank, especially of kings and emperors visiting a province" (Arndt and Gingrich).
It is such a visit by a King that the Scriptures foretell. The crowds who welcomed King Jesus into Jerusalem when he sat astride a donkey and they threw coats and' palm branches before him, shouted out greetings that referred right back to the Promises of God: "Blessed be the kingdom of our father David that cometh in the name of the Lord" (Mark 11:10). Matthew comments that the rejoicing was a foretaste of what had been forecast by Zechariah the prophet, when he wrote "Behold, thy King cometh unto thee".
Now if the initial royal visit was attended by such joy and rejoicing, consider what the next one will be like! The prophet had declared:
"Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold thy king cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation. . . and he shall speak peace unto the heathen; and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth" (Zechariah 9:9,10).
Dual Fulfillment
This Scripture illustrates a widely used feature of Bible prophecy: its joint short and long-term character. Jerusalem rejoiced at the Kingly coming of Jesus -- "Lowly and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass" -- just as the prophet had said. But their joy was short-lived, for he did not then go on to establish worldwide peace, or commence to rule from Jerusalem over a Kingdom that was to last for ever. Jesus completed enough of the prophecy at that time to demonstrate that he was the Coming One, and to give us confidence that he will return to complete the promised transformation of the earth. Zechariah compressed the two comings in such a way that there appeared to be no interval between them. This has led some people to argue that the Kingdom will never come, because, they say, even Jesus expected it in the First Century, or at most shortly afterwards. It has thus been dismissed by some as an early Christian hope, which has now been superseded by a superior understanding. But when all the Scriptures are studied carefully, it becomes clear that the Coming of Jesus was not to occur immediately after his ascension to heaven. The Day and the Hour
Any attempt to show that Jesus was mistaken about the time of his Coming is doomed to failure. He clearly stated, more than once, that he did not know:
"Of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only" (Matthew 24:36).
As he later said, this was something that the Father had reserved within His own authority (Acts 1:7). But Jesus did know that some long time would elapse before his Second Coming. He told parables to indicate that his coming would not "immediately appear" (Luke 1 9:11), that it would be "after a long time" (Matthew 25:19), and that there might be some delay for those who were waiting (25:3). Like their Lord, his followers were to appreciate that they could "not know what hour" he would come.
The apostles also acknowledged that they could not know the precise time of the great event for which they waited. Peter warned about people who would scoff, as so many have, at the "promise of his coming" (2 Peter 3:4). Indeed he poured scorn on their faithlessness, what he called "willful ignorance" -- people believing what they wanted to believe, regardless of the evidence. And Paul was in no doubt either, for he went on record as saying:
"But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh . . ." (1 Thessalonians 5:1,2).
Can you complete that quotation? It holds the key to two vital matters concerning the early return of the King. Notice first what the verse above says. There would be general indications available -- what Paul calls "times and seasons" -- which would help keep the believers prepared. And the verse continues:
". . . the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night."
When it happens the Lord's Coming will be swift, sudden and unexpected. No-one expects thieves to strike. But they often succeed because people overlook the dangers. It is also the case that speed is vital to a successful robbery, which is why the figure is used by Jesus (Matthew 24:43), Paul (1 Thessalonians 5:2), and Peter (2 Peter
3:10), to emphasise the vital point. We must be on our guard, watchful, prepared, vigilant. The Lord could come at any time! He will come when we least expect him!
The Times and Seasons
That is why when Jesus explained what was to happen before his Return, he very carefully emphasised the need for watchfulness. Sitting with his disciples one day on the Mount of Olives, from where he would later ascend to heaven, he gave them some general indications of what was to happen prior to his "coming and the end of the world" (Matthew 24:3). This prophecy presents a fascinating challenge, for it combines a short-term prediction about the fall of Jerusalem and the destruction of the temple, with a long-term forecast of world events.
A list of the predicted events in the three Gospel accounts (Matthew 24, Mark 1 3 and Luke 24), which does not claim to be a structured sequence of prophetic events, shows the following:
1. The rise of false Christianity and false Christs
2. The persecution of true Christians.
3. Wars and rumors of wars, nation against nation.
4. Earthquakes, famines and pestilences.
5. Jerusalem surrounded by armies.
6. The Jewish nation dispersed.
7. Jerusalem in non-Jewish occupation.
8. Tribulation and distress.
9. Signs in the sun, moon and stars.
10. The powers of heaven shaken.
Notice how believers are warned about the rise and growth of false Christianity. It is the Lord's first concern. His words were fulfilled by the rapid development of wrong teaching in New Testament times (e.g. Acts 20:29), and are being fulfilled again at the close of this age. Elsewhere the message is that the true believers will comprise a very small remnant, compared with those who hold a distorted form of Christianity.
Antichrist
The apostles also warn about this development. Paul was emphatic that there would be manifestations of false Christianity, for he prophesied that the Day of the Lord:
"shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped" (2 Thessalonians 2:3,4).
The apostle Paul describes the man of sin in language that refers back to the prophet Daniel, who accurately foretold the rise and fall of four empires that exercised power in the Middle East. He traced the development from them to a false religious system, involving the Holy Roman Empire and the papacy, that is opposed to Christ and his true followers. This is counterfeit Christianity, and the apostle Paul describes it as "the mystery of iniquity" which was already at work, and "a strong delusion".
The other thread of teaching in the Lord's catalogue of future events concerned trouble. There were to be wars and rumors of wars, both within and between nations; there would be natural disasters and widespread hardship, earthquakes, famines and epidemics; terrors and fearful sights would be in the heavens, causing much fear and distress. People would not know which way to turn for fear of what was about to happen on earth.
To some extent these problems are as old as man. The tendency to war against one another is evident even in the first book of the Bible, and famine features there too. But even within Bible history the atrocities of which man is capable become increasingly ugly, and since then even more widespread horrors have been seen. The powers now available to mankind are enough to make any sane person fear for the future. More than ever before, these words of Jesus are coming true:
"There shall be . . . upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory" (Luke 21:25-27).
Tribulation
The reference to the sea and waves roaring, like others to signs in the sun, moon and stars, may be either symbolic or literal or some combination of both. The prophet Isaiah, for example, wrote about the wicked being "like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt" (57:20). Jesus may have been drawing upon such imagery to describe a world that was full of trouble because it was full of wickedness. He may also have been teaching us to look out for some upheaval of the physical order, like tidal waves, which would also be an indication of the end of the age. Certainly there have been many earthquakes and natural disasters over the past few years, all over the world. The apostle Paul described the whole world order as groaning and travailing in pain (Romans 8:22), like a woman waiting to be delivered of a child. It is thus evident that our present troubles are the birthpangs of a new and better world, soon to begin.
In both Testaments we are told that the tribulation that will come at the end of human government is the final herald of the Second Coming. It will be:
"a time of trouble such as never was" (Daniel 12:1);
"the time of Jacob's (Israel's) trouble" (Jeremiah 30:7);
"great tribulation" (Matthew 24:21).
Will the believers waiting for their Lord have to suffer this trouble, or will they be spared? The likelihood is that present-day believers will live through this time of trouble, indeed that they have already begun to do so. Jesus promised that for the elect's sake that time would be shortened (Mark 13:20). But those who finally stand approved before the Judge are those "which came out of the great tribulation, and they washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb" (Revelation 7:14).
As that trouble increases, and God pours out His wrath upon the earth, there are indications that true believers will be sheltered from that outpouring. Isaiah describes the great shake-up of human society when God intervenes:
"Come, my people, enter into thy chambers. . . hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity" (24:18-23, 26:20,21).
We must therefore consider carefully what Jesus said:
"When these things (the signs of which he spoke) begin to come to pass, then look up and lift up your heads, for your redemption draweth nigh" (Luke 21:28).
We should not wait until total disaster has struck, and there is no escape route left. It is better to learn the lesson now, that this is the time immediately before the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Nation of Sign
There is one great sign which removes all doubt concerning his imminent return. The nation of Israel is back occupying the land promised by God. The history of the Jewish nation has been a guide throughout the ages to the outworking of God's purposes. They were called as a special people, because of the great promises that had been made to their Fathers. They were given the right to occupy the land we now know as Israel, conditional upon their faithful obedience to God. They were the people whose kings occupied the throne of God's Kingdom on earth.
They forfeited these rights when, after centuries of indifference, they not only refused to accept the Lord Jesus as their Messiah, but were involved, with the Romans, in effecting his death by crucifixion. Because of that rejection, Jerusalem was overthrown. Throughout the intervening centuries Jews have wandered the earth as a stateless people, hated and persecuted almost everywhere they went, just as Scripture said they would be.
But Scripture also forecast a better future for this nation of sign, not because they would change their behavior and live to deserve better treatment, but because God would take pity on their plight and act to redeem them. He would remember the promises made of old to the Fathers and act to vindicate His great name. At the time of the end they would be brought back from the nations and once more be settled in their own land-the land of promise! So the prophets said:
ISAIAH: "The remnant shall return . . the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion" (10:21; 35:10).
JEREMIAH: "He that scattered Israel will gather him" (31:10).
EZEKIEL: "I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries . . . then shall they dwell in their land . . . yea, they shall dwell with confidence" (11:17; 28:25,26).
ZECHARIAH: "I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem" (8:8).
And so it came to pass. After nearly two thousand years of dispersion and down-treading, in 1948 the State of Israel was born by the decree of the United Nations, and in 1 967 the whole of Jerusalem was repossessed by Jews. It had taken all that time for the words of Jesus to be fulfilled:
"They shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled" (Luke 21:24).
Everything now indicates that the Times of the Gentiles are rapidly drawing to a close and the Time of the Kingdom of God is once more at hand. The bringing together of troublous times and the return of the Jews to the Land removes any doubt. Shortly King Jesus will return to Jerusalem as World Ruler, to reign over Israel and over all nations. Of all the available Signs of the Times given by Jesus and the prophets, the establishment of Israel-the Nation of Sign-is the clearest witness that the End is now at hand.
The "Rapture"
What then awaits the faithful follower of Jesus? Can he expect to go to heaven with the Lord at his Return? Hardly, for the Lord is coming to reign on earth, from Jerusalem. An elaborate scheme has been devised by some Bible readers which requires not one Coming but two. According to this, Christ's Coming would be first for the Church only and would be a secret "rapture". He would come again with the Church, for the world, and this would be visible and public. In some versions of this theory the interval between the two comings is very small; in others as much as seven years is thought to separate the two events.
There is very little Scripture that can be used to attempt to support these theories, for whilst there are some indications that a separation will occur between companions when Jesus comes (Luke 17:34-36), the main teaching about the circumstances of the Return is that given in Paul's First Letter to the Thessalonians:
"The Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord" (4:16,17).
The phrase caught up is that from which the whole idea of a rapture has evolved; and the links with a supposed seven year period of tribulation have been achieved by the unsatisfactory interpretation of other Scriptures, especially from the Revelation. Clearly there is to be a catching away of true believers, both of the living and the resurrected dead, "to meet the Lord in the air". They are to form a welcoming party who, with the angels who attend his coming, will make up his entourage. But they go to meet him, not he them. And their destination is made clear in the Scriptures already considered: the Lord and his followers are bound for Jerusalem (Zechariah 14:4), "the city of the great king" (Matthew 5:35).
The Lord will come!
In these dying moments of human government, the powers of heaven will be shaken as men's hearts fail them for fear. The nations will be engaged in a battle around Jerusalem. Then the Lord will come! Unexpectedly, suddenly, in great power and glory, bringing salvation for those who have faithfully waited and prepared for this central event in their lives; but bringing judgement upon all those who have wilfully ignored the faithful promises and gracious invitation of God:
"The Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power: when he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe" (2 Thessalonians 1:9,10).
It is vital therefore that we believe what the Bible so clearly promises. We cannot simply "wait and see", because Jesus is coming to save those who already believe, not to give reasons for faith to those who have had clear evidence, but no inclination for the things of God.
When the Lord spoke to his followers about his eventual return to earth, he focused their attention more on the consequences of his Coming than on the sequence of events itself. To this day we cannot know for sure when Jesus will come. But we know perfectly clearly that when he comes he will call us to account, and ask us how we spent our lives on the eve of his return:
"Take heed . . . be not led astray . . . be not troubled . . . take heed to yourselves . . . preach the gospel . . . be not anxious . . . endure to the end . . . flee . . . pray . . . believe not false prophets . . . take heed . . . look up and lift up your heads . . . take heed to yourselves . . . watch . . . BE READY" (Matthew 24; Mark 13; Luke 21).
The apostles make the very same points as they reflect on the nearness of the Lord's Return.
"What manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness . . . be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless" (2 Peter 3:11-14).
"Denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ" (Titus 2:12,13).
"When he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man who has this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure" (1 John 3:2,3).
Take Heed to Yourselves
The Bible is our guidebook to the future, just as it is our handbook for the present. It alone will show us what God wants us to do. From it we can learn God's purpose and promises. The first thing is to understand and believe those things that are true. We shall then come to appreciate the need for obedience to God, starting with baptism. And thus we shall be doing what Jesus commanded.
The coming Kingdom of God on earth will transform human experience. We need to learn to live now in harmony with our Creator. The Lord is at hand! It is now an urgent matter for us all to examine our lives, so that we are properly prepared for the Coming of the King.

Much Better Viewed Large On Black
Recently returned from two days spent at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and this is one of many photos I took while there. We stayed at the historic El Tovar Hotel, situated just along the rim - what a great location! I hadn't been to the Grand Canyon in 15 years and thoroughly enjoyed seeing the breath-taking landscapes once again. In this photo you I used Photoshop filter Fractalius and also Picnik to enhance the original.
INFORMATION ON THE GRAND CANYON:
The Grand Canyon is a steep-sided gorge carved by the Colorado River in the United States in the state of Arizona. It is largely contained within the Grand Canyon National Park — one of the first national parks in the United States. President Theodore Roosevelt was a major proponent of preservation of the Grand Canyon area, and visited it on numerous occasions to hunt and enjoy the scenery.
Longstanding scientific consensus has been that the canyon was created by the Colorado River over a six million year period. The canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, ranges in width from 4 to 18 miles (6.4 to 29 km) and attains a depth of over a mile (1.83 km) (6000 feet). Nearly two billion years of the Earth's geological history have been exposed as the Colorado River and its tributaries cut their channels through layer after layer of rock while the Colorado Plateau was uplifted. The canyon began in the west, followed by another that formed in the east. Eventually, the two broke through and met as a single majestic rent in the earth some six million years ago. The merger apparently occurred where the river today bends to the west, in the area known as the Kaibab Arch.
Before European immigration, the area was inhabited by Native Americans who built settlements within the canyon and its many caves. The Pueblo people considered the Grand Canyon ("Ongtupqa" in Hopi language) a holy site and made pilgrimages to it. The first European known to have viewed the Grand Canyon was García López de Cárdenas from Spain, who arrived in 1540.
The Grand Canyon is a massive rift in the Colorado Plateau that exposes uplifted Proterozoic and Paleozoic strata, and is also one of the six distinct physiographic sections of the Colorado Plateau province. The Grand Canyon is unmatched throughout the world for the vistas it offers to visitors on the rim. It is not the deepest canyon in the world — Cotahuasi Canyon (11598 feet or 3535 m) and Colca Canyon (10499 feet or 3200 m), both in Arequipa, Peru, and Hells Canyon (7,993 feet or 2436 m) on the Oregon-Idaho border, are all deeper — but Grand Canyon is known for its overwhelming size and its intricate and colorful landscape. Geologically it is significant because of the thick sequence of ancient rocks that are beautifully preserved and exposed in the walls of the canyon. These rock layers record much of the early geologic history of the North American continent.
About 600 deaths have occurred in the Grand Canyon since the 1870s. Some of these deaths occurred as the result of overly zealous photographic endeavors, some were the result of airplane collisions within the canyon, and some visitors drowned in the Colorado River. Many hikers overestimate their fitness level, become dehydrated and confused, and must be rescued. The Park Service now posts a picture of an attractive and fit young man at several trailheads with the caption "Every year we rescue hundreds of people from the Canyon. Most of them look like him", in an attempt to discourage hikers from feats which are beyond their abilities.
According to Over the Edge: Death in the Grand Canyon, 50 fatalities have resulted from falls; 65 deaths were attributable to environmental causes, including heat stroke, cardiac arrest, dehydration, and hypothermia; 7 were caught in flash floods; 79 were drowned in the Colorado River; 242 perished in airplane and helicopter crashes (128 of them in the 1956 disaster mentioned below); 25 died in freak errors and accidents, including lightning strikes and rock falls; 47 committed suicide; and 23 were the victims of homicides.

══════════════════════════════════
A Warning and an Upgrade
On the weekend of 25/26 April 2009 laminated cards headed: ”WARNING NOTICE” were tied to columns in the streets of Tottenham Hale Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ). They announced "New parking signs and lines"; and that "Parking signs and road markings have been programmed to be upgraded".
I talked to some of our neighbours who were also looking at the notices. What did they make of this "warning", with a promise of something "new"? What exactly was this particular "upgrade"?
They didn't know. I don't expect many local residents did know.
Stripping away spin and obfuscation, this was the work done.
► Some faded yellow and white traffic and parking lines were repainted.
► Hundreds of lines were corrected because they were unlawful and did not comply with the Statutory Regulations.
► That's it!
In 2009 having parking lines which did not comply with the law wasn't a problem unique to Haringey Council. Click here to read about the mess which many local authorities across the country made of their traffic lines and signs. (Use the 'Back' button to return.)
Haringey's Parking and Highways Service - under the 'leadership' of former Labour councillor Brian Haley - was slower than many to come out of denial, admit they were doing it wrong, and agree a programme for repainting lines and getting them right.
Wording of the Temporary Notices
Does the wording of these notices really matter? After all, the work was finished within three weeks, when most of the temporary laminated cards had gone.
In my view, it does matter. How local councils inform and explain things to residents is a vital issue. "Warning" them and promising a spurious "upgrade" is a symptom of a diseased, secretive culture.
"The highest standards of propriety and accuracy"
Haringey's website has a page headed: Setting the Record Straight. It includes this paragraph.
"But in spite of our best efforts, media reports are not always accurate. People have a right to reliable information, just as we have a duty to provide it. That is why we introduced this section to the site. The information we provide is subject to a Code of Conduct under the Local Government Act 1986. This means we are bound by the highest standards of propriety and accuracy in providing information.
My request to Dr Ita O'Donovan
In the spirit of these golden words on Haringey's website, on 28 April 2009 I wrote to Dr Ita O'Donovan, then Haringey's Chief Executive. I asked for her help in getting the laminated cards replaced with notices which were simple, clear and truthful.
I proposed the wording: "We are correcting some errors in the existing white and yellow traffic lines and repainting lines which are faded". I suggested that the words: "We apologise for any inconvenience", would have been welcome.
Dr O'Donovan's reply on 14 May, over two weeks later, was almost wholly negative. She wrote:
"I have looked into this matter as you have requested. I feel that there is little difference in the message of the notice currently being used and that which you propose. Given that these works are due to be completed within the next two weeks I do not feel it would be an effective use of the Council’s scarce resources to reprint and put up fresh notices."
"The work itself will result in minimal inconvenience to residents but I do accept that an apology for any inconvenience could have been included on the signs. I will arrange for this to be included in any future signs of this nature."
I emailed back, agreeing with Dr O'Donovan that it was by then too late and would waste resources to put up truthful signs. But I pointed out this wouldn't have been the case if she had acted immediately when I raised the problem with her.
I suggested that a few dozen laminated A3 cards and some nylon tape are not prohibitively costly. Probably no more than Haringey Council was then paying for a few minutes of the time of one of the numerous consultants it then employed.
I quoted the words of the (then) Prime Minister, Gordon Brown on 11 May 2008. "We must show we have the highest standards for our profession. And we must show that, where mistakes have been made and errors have been discovered, where wrongs have to be righted, that that is done so immediately."

A chance to understand public information
All bureaucracies try to hide behind a curtain of jargon. Local government is not immune. And this is after decades of campaigning by the Plain English Campaign with its highly prized 'Crystal Mark'.
In 1971, its founder Chrissie Maher asked: ‘Why isn’t the public given a chance to understand public information?’ She gave the answers: ‘To keep them in the dark.’ ‘To stop them claiming what is rightfully theirs.’ ‘To stop them interfering in things they wouldn’t understand’." ( Source: Chrissie Maher's book "Born To Crusade")
Though some people in local government do 'get it'.
”Without explaining what a council does in proper English then local people will fail to understand its relevance to them or why they should bother to turn out and vote. Unless information is given to people to explain why their council matters then local democracy will be threatened with extinction.”
“ . . . we can not, must not and should not hide behind impenetrable jargon and phrases. We do not pretend to be perfect, but as this list shows, we are striving to make sure that people get the chance to understand what services we provide." .
(Source: Two quotes by the late Simon Milton, then Chair of the Local Government Association.)
________________
For an individual or an organisation, admitting your mistakes can be embarrassing. It's tempting to fudge and obfuscate. Though for local councils who have had non-compliant traffic lines and signs for many years, the worry may not be public shame, but public finance. In other words, it may open the door to claims for PCNs (fines) to be repaid.

George Orwell's novel, Nineteen Eighty-Four
was first published in 1949.
Orwell wanted English written with clarity.
He said “Good prose is like a window pane”.
In his bleak fable of a totalitarian future Orwell imagined English replaced by “Newspeak”. "… the special function of certain Newspeak words … was not so much to express meanings as to destroy them.”
Sixty years later, "Newspeak" has been reinvented as "Spin", "Narrative", and other variations of deceptive and manipulative news management.

Monse at the entrance of the rented house in Kobe's Higashi Nada ward where Tanizaki Jun'ichirô lived for two years beginning in 1924. It was the first day that year (2005) we heard the cicadas, but only there in Tanizaki's house: they went out to the rest of Japan many days after. The house served as model for the one described in Chijin no ai (A Fool's Love) and is often referred to as "Naomi's House". We visited it less than a year before its destruction this April. Now it will be relocated, most likely in the same park in Higashi Nada where Tanizaki's famous self-designed house (destroyed in the 1995 Kobe Earthquake) is currently being reconstructed.

This Veritas RS was purchased by the current owner in 2001 from the assets of its deceased owner Björn Övre. Mr. Övre was a collector of Veritas and early BMW cars who has purchased already in the 1950s and 1960s several Veritas cars in Belgium and imported them to Norway. He was indeed well known in Veritas circles and often a most welcomed guest at Veritas meetings at Meßkirch and at the Nürburgring. Sadly his intention to restore 61651 after retiring did not happen due to his untimely death.
After being in the now vendors ownership the car was completely restored by German specialist Georg Thiele and a photographic documentation of the restoration is available in the cars file. This restoration included restoring the original space frame, front and rear axles, wheels, braking system and fitting of new shock absorbers, rebuilt engine with new pistons, polished con rods, new oil and water pumps (by Feierabend) and a 5 - speed gearbox is fitted with the original gearbox supplied. Fresh paint and seats trimmed in the traditional style finish the car.
Today 61651 presents itself in superb race and road ready condition. This car campaigned in many classic races, rallies and classic outings all over Europe within the last 10 years while in the ownership of its current custodian, himself a well known pre - and post war BMW collector and is in mint condition throughout. Needless to say that it is highly collectible, very rare and simply beautiful, certainly not to be missed.

There's no such thing as life in-between.

Bittersweet Symphony <<Cool video linky
'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life
Try to make ends meet, you're a slave to the money then you die...
...Have you ever been down!?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bitter...
I dearly miss my younger brother John, he died a *very* unfortunate death, like probably thousands of others today. His wife and kids miss him even more, they need him, it's not easy at all going on without him. But they have no choice at the moment, it's *so* unjust.
Justice will prevail though, in the end. I firmly believe I will see him again, face to face in excellent shape. Yet, people keep repeating that death is a 'natural part of life'. I can only hope people will keep on thinking wheter that 'idea' is true. Meanwhile I keep on proclaiming the opposite. Stay awake, enjoy your day! :-)
Sweet...
Bitter? Yes, but not without hope. I'm so glad to be able to study what the Bible really teaches, instead of what 'religion' is trying to teach people for centuries. Listen up - if you care: Humanity, including the dead will be able to live forever on a renovated earth.
Revelation 21:3-5
I heard a loud voice shout from the throne: God's home is now with his people. He will live with them, and they will be his own. Yes, God will make his home among his people. He will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain. These things of the past are gone forever. 5 Then the one sitting on the throne said: I am making everything new. Write down what I have said. My words are true and can be trusted.
1 Corinthians 15:25,26
Christ will rule until he puts all his enemies under his power, and the last enemy he destroys will be death.
Psalm 37:11
But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
Preachy? A bit maybe, yes indeed. Sorry to bother you if you don't want to know. We (still) live in a free world though - most of us anyway. Away with bias and ignorance, I'd say. Enjoy your day!

Augustus S. Vogt’s German father had come to Upper Canada to escape the revolutionary turmoil of 1848. His Swiss mother had immigrated with her parents in the 1830s. Vogt grew up in Elmira, Ont., in a household where the children followed their mother’s Lutheranism. Their Roman Catholic father, a hotel-keeper, also built organs, including one locally for St James Lutheran Church, which appointed Augustus organist at age 12. After studying in Hamilton, in 1878 he became organist of First Methodist Church in St Thomas. He completed his musical training at the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston, in 1881–84 and at the Leipzig Conservatory in Germany in 1885–88, during which time the gifted youth composed a prelude and fugue for organ. On his return to Toronto in 1888, he established himself as organist-choirmaster of the prestigious Jarvis Street Baptist Church, a position he would hold until 1906. His conversion to the Baptist faith may have caused a rift with his father. Active as secretary of a short-lived college of organists in 1889–92 and as a teacher of piano, organ, and theory at the Toronto College of Music [see Frederick Herbert Torrington*], in 1892 he secured a similar post at the Toronto Conservatory of Music (Royal Conservatory of Music). He would later be named a fellow of the Royal College of Organists.
Throughout his career, Vogt had to negotiate the politics of Toronto’s musical scene. The conservatory tested its own students, and staff who sat as examiners received fees. In the late 1890s Vogt and others opposed the use in Canada of the examinations of the Associated Board of the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music in London, England. Such external testing was unnecessary, they argued, with much invective and national huffiness over this “traffic in certificates.” In response to Vogt’s insults, the board’s local representative, Samuel Aitken, shot back in 1899 that if the conservatory were to have “sweated” Vogt for half his fees, “he might not now be putting up a new palatial residence in Bloor St.” Furthermore, he found it amusing that exception to “foreign” examination should be taken “by a gentleman who spells his name V O G T.” Vogt, a self-described “native Canadian and a loyal subject,” retorted that the board’s president, the Prince of Wales, owned a family name (Saxe-Coburg-Gotha) “which is equally suggestive of such dainties as sauerkraut, limburger and lager.” Despite this objection, board examination continued for several more decades.
When a student in Leipzig, Vogt had been a regular listener to the choral singing at the famed Thomaskirche. In Toronto, a stickler for rehearsal, he strove for excellence in the unaccompanied singing of his choir at Jarvis Street Baptist, a standard that enhanced his local reputation as a choral director. In 1894 he founded the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir (now the oldest mixed-voice choir in Canada), and through his work with it he would attract international acclaim. Its initial membership of 75 was drawn largely from his church choir and the repertoire was mostly sung a cappella. At the inaugural concert in the Massey Music Hall on 15 Jan. 1895, there were 167 choristers, of whom 106 were women, all of them unmarried. Among the long-time members was Vogt’s wife, whom he had conducted in a choir before their marriage. Vogt broke up the Mendelssohn Choir in 1897 only to reinstate it, astutely, in 1900; under its new constitution it would disband annually and, to keep standards high, each chorister would audition anew. Vogt expanded its repertoire to include works with orchestra and he showcased these pieces in annual festivals, beginning in 1902. The choir collaborated with the Chicago and Pittsburgh orchestras, among others, and its tours in the United States were unprecedented for any Canadian musical organization. The Mendelssohn quickly gained critical acclaim. “Choral music is a branch of the art in which Canadians seem to excel,” Vogt explained to the Musical Times (London). Ernest Alexander Campbell MacMillan* later noted in an appreciation that “the wonderful feeling for musical colour which never failed to appear in Vogt’s performances, was compounded of an exceptional sense of rhythm and an almost uncanny sensitiveness to vocal tone.”
After a year’s trip to Europe, in 1913 Vogt succeeded Edward Fisher* as musical director of the Toronto Conservatory, then situated on College Street. He resigned from the Mendelssohn Choir in 1917 owing to the exigencies of his new duties. As meticulous and visionary in administration as he was in conducting, he enlarged the student base and the number of local centres across Canada for the graded examinations of the conservatory. Vogt himself went west as an examiner until 1921. In 1914 a resident program in performance was introduced. Among the accomplished staff attracted by Vogt was James Healey Willan*, first as head of theory and then as vice-principal. Aided by Sir Byron Edmund Walker, who chaired the boards of both the conservatory and the University of Toronto, which awarded Vogt a d.mus. in 1906 – an honour Vogt cherished – he forged a strong liaison with the university, becoming first dean of its faculty of music in 1918 in addition to being principal of the conservatory. Under his tenure, the conservatory became part of the university through provincial legislation in 1919, and in 1924, with university approval, it took over another recognized local school, the Canadian Academy of Music.
Beyond his work as a conductor and administrator, Vogt wrote articles for Edwin Rodie Parkhurst’s Musical Canada (Toronto) and for Musical Life and Arts (Winnipeg). He was a music critic for Saturday Night (Toronto) in the 1890s under the name of Moderato, and he contributed other pieces and letters in 1891, 1912–13, and 1922. His choral compositions included An Indian lullaby for women’s voices and Crossing the bar in 1906 and The sea in 1911, and he prepared arrangements of The Lord’s Prayer and Rule Britannia. He is best known for his Modern pianoforte technique (Toronto, 1900), his widely used Standard anthem book (2v., Toronto, 1894–c. 1909), and, with Willan, School and community song book (Toronto, 1922).
In 1918 Vogt began suffering from heart problems. Four years later his wife died of breast and liver cancer. He nevertheless carried on with his demanding dual position, but, he told his daughter in August 1926, “the almost deadly nature of my job about kills me.” The next month, while suffering from influenza, he died of a heart attack. In 1929 a memorial window commissioned by the Mendelssohn Choir was placed in St Paul’s Anglican Church in Toronto, where he had been a member for many years.

The Jardines del Buen Retiro or Parque del Buen Retiro (literally "Gardens" or "Park of the Pleasant Retreat"), or simply El Retiro, the "Lungs of Madrid", is the main park of the city of Madrid, capital of Spain.
The Parque del Buen Retiro is a large and popular 1.4 km² (350-acre) park at the edge of the city center, very close to the Puerta de Alcalá and not far from the Museo del Prado. A magnificent park, filled with beautiful sculpture and monuments, galleries, a peaceful lake and host to a variety of events, it is one of Madrid's premier attractions. The park is entirely surrounded by the present-day city.
In 1505, at the time of Isabella I (r. 1474–1504) the Monasterio de Jerónimos was moved from an unsuitable location elsewhere to the present site of Iglesia de San Jerónimo el Real, and a new monastery built in Isabelline Gothic style. The royal family had a retreat built as part of the church.
King Philip II (r. 1556–1598) moved the Spanish court to Madrid in 1561. Philip had the Retiro enlarged by his architect Juan Bautista de Toledo, and formal avenues of trees were laid out. Here, at the Palacio del Buen Retiro, the king could withdraw during Lent, bringing the court with him.
The "Jardines del Buen Retiro" were extended in the 1620s, when Gaspar de Guzmán, Count-Duke of Olivares, Philip IV's powerful favourite, gave the king several tracts of land in the vicinity for the Court's recreational use. Olivares determined to build, in a place that the king liked, a royal house which should be superior to those villas that Roman nobles had lately been setting up in the hillyt outskirts of Rome. Although this second royal residence was to be built in what were then outlying areas of Madrid, it was actually not far from the existing Alcázar or fortress residence, and the location in a cool, wooded area proved to be ideal.

CASTELLANO

still when i was crying
you were on my side
angel, you can come and see me here tonight
angel, of course you're always more than welcome here
still i'm needing somebody else … again
still another face
brightens up my place
there is nothing much i want to do about it
the way i fall without you
the way i'm dull without you
i split my skull, all for your love
everybody ought to be an angel ...
still when i was crying
you were on my side
angel, i never thought that i'd be free or clear
angel, except for you, i doubt that i'd be here
still i'm needing somebody else … again

Bap Colognian (Kölsch) pronunciation: [/bap/] is a German rock group. With ten albums reaching the number one in the German record charts, Bap is one of the most successful rock acts in their home country.
Nearly all of Bap's lyrics are written in Kölsch, the dialect of Cologne, or more precisely in a Kölsch-influenced derivation of Eifelplatt, a regional variant of the Ripuarian language spoken in the nearby rural Eifel. Niedecken's most prominent musical influences, especially early in his career, were Bob Dylan, the Kinks, Bruce Springsteen, the Rolling Stones, and Wolfgang Ambros.
The group was founded in 1976 under the name Wolfgang Niedecken's Bap in Cologne, Germany by Wolfgang Niedecken and Hans Heres. In 1981 they released their most famous song "Verdamp lang her" (English: Damn long time ago), in which Niedecken describes regrets he has about his relationship with his then recently deceased father. The band's name "BAP" derived from "BAPP", both, a play-on-words on the Kölsch word "Papp" (related to the German word Papa for dad), but pronounced differently, and Niedecken's then-times nickname.

The 2nd day of our trip to Yellowstone National Park featured a guided safari by Safari Yellowstone safariyellowstone.com/index.php. Our guide was the owner and very knowledgeable Carl Swoboda. His keen eyes and knowledge of the park, animals and connections to people gave us once in a lifetime experience.
We started early in the morning driving into the park. First animal spotted was an elk in Mammoth Hot Springs. From there we headed to the Lamar Valley where we saw bison after bison. First time you see a bison - cool! By the 200th time you're yelling at the tourists that stop in the middle of the road to take a picture for their first sighting.
Carl got a signal in passing from one his friends that wolves had been sighted in the valley. We drove to where the wolf watchers had gathered. Luckily Safari Yellowstone provides scopes since we didn't own any at them time. We were able to spot and track the Lamar Valley pack with about 10 other regular wolf watcher enthusiasts. Rick McIntyre, a Biological Technician for the Yellowstone Wolf Project, was there as well recording everything that each person narrated that they saw the wolves doing.
Everyone was very friendly and helpful. If you couldn't find them in your scope they would give you directions for aiming your scope or come over and find them for you. I learned how to take pictures using my Panasonic Lumix ZS7 through the scope. Setting it to Macro Zoom was the key.
We followed the wolves as they traveled a couple of miles through the valley. At one point they came across a coyote that was in their path. We saw them kill it. Afterward they came down into the grassy valley floor for nap. It appeared to the wolf watchers that the wolves had eaten previously that morning.
Carl then took us to look for the carcass of the wolf kill. We learned what kind signs to look for in a recent kill. We also learned a lot about Yellowstone National Park. Carl shared his knowledge about conservation, the animals in the park, geological makeup and history of the park. We never found the carcass but the lessons we learned stayed with us the rest of our trip.
We were able to see mountain goats and bighorn sheep through the scopes before having a nice sandwich lunch. Before our safari ended Carl pulled out a map and marked out must-see locations and tips and tricks to catching the best views.
Looking back on our trip, having the experience of the tour with Safari Yellowstone at the beginning of trip totally changed the trip for the better. We noticed things we would not have noticed before. We looked for things would never have looked for. We came away from our trip knowing, seeing and remembering so much more than if we had just gone in cold as newbie tourists. Definitely consider spending a little extra on your trip if you want a much more memorable trip to Yellowstone.

Suggested by the book Flying Saucers from Outer Space by retired U.S. Marine Corps Major Donald F. Keyhoe, this story, about an alien invasion of Earth, is highlighted by spectacular special effects by Ray Harryhausen.
Hugh Marlowe as Dr. Russell A. Marvin
Joan Taylor as Carol Marvin
Donald Curtis as Major Huglin, the liaison officer
Morris Ankrum as Brig. Gen. John Hanley
John Zaremba as Prof. Kanter
Thomas Browne Henry as Vice-Admiral Enright
Grandon Rhodes as General Edmunds
Larry J. Blake as a motorcycle policeman
Charles Evans as Dr. Alberts
Paul Frees as Alien (voice)
Harry Lauter as Cutting - Generator Technician
Charles was always cutting out stories from newspapers and in the mid-fifties there were a spat of flying saucer sightings. Charles thought this phenomenon would make a good feature and so Earth Vs the Flying Saucers was the result.
The design of the saucers was based on what most people would expect but Ray added an animated section into the top and underside that also had flutes in them so that people could see it was moving.
The various sizes of saucers (there are seven in total) were made from aluminium by Ray’s father and then anodised giving them a matt finish so they didn’t reflect light.
Ray never liked the latex alien suits used in the film even though he designed them. He would have preferred to animate models of the aliens but because of budget restrictions this was never possible.
Instead of drawing entire storyboards for the action, Ray used location photographs and executed rough sketches on them and then mounted them for storyboards.
As with The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms, a great number of the rear project plates were stills.
For all the aerial model work Ray used old recording wire on which to suspend the saucers.
The miniatures sets – The Capitol and the Supreme Court buildings cost $1500 each and the Washington Monument cost just $500. Compare those costs with today’s budgets
Earth vs. The Flying Saucers (EvFS) is the flagship of 50s sci-fi B movies. It has all the hallmarks of a typical B movie: shot in black and white, much stock footage, low-budget props, etc. That said, EvFS is still the best of its breed. The acting is good (for the most part). Ray Harryhausen's stop-motion animation of the saucers is great. His saucers have more "life" than any model on a string could attain. The basic premise of hostile aliens invading the earth with flying saucers was a classic. EvFS would be a significant influence in Tim Burton's 1996 movie Mars Attacks.
Dr. Marvin (Hugh Marlowe) heads a nascent satellite program, but all of his satellites blow up or fall from orbit. A saucer buzzes Dr. Marvin and his wife as they drive to the base. Despite a call from Dr. Marvin's father-in-law (Morris Ankrum), they launch the next rocket. A saucer descends on the base. Troops open fire. The saucer is invulnerable, but one of the robot-like aliens is hit. The other alien-bots use heat beams to destroy the base. Only Dr. Marvin and his wife escape because they were in a deep bunker. The aliens came from a defunct solar system, intent on taking over the earth. They want earthlings to surrender peacefully so their new home won't be a ruin from the battle. Mankind is defiant. The aliens give earth 56 days to think it over. The time is used, instead, to develop an anti-saucer weapon. Dr. Marvin and staff develop a magnetic disruptor which makes the saucers unstable. When the fleet of saucers finally arrive over Washington DC, a whole fleet of disrupter-beam equipped Ford flatbed trucks is there to greet them. A mighty battle rages. Saucer heat beams destroy much, but the trucks take their toll too. Saucers wobble and fall into a variety of DC landmarks, including the Washington Monument. Finally, the last saucer falls. Earth is saved! The end.
It's hard not to enjoy this classic of 50s B sci-fi. It has everything a 50 sci-fi fan loves. The acting is reasonably good, the pacing is pretty good too, so even someone who isn't a fan of the genre could be suitably entertained.
EvFS is a classic allegory of Cold War tensions. A hostile force seeks to invade and take over. In the mid-50s, the threat from communism was never far from viewers' minds. The caustic Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev would say, later in 1956 "We will bury you!" would say later. When, in the movie, the earthlings decide to fight the saucers, an Army general says: "When an armed and threatening power lands uninvited in our capitol, we don't meet him with tea and cookies!" Such was American popular sentiment towards the threat of communism.
Stock Footage Fun -- amid the usual clips of P-80s and V-2s (Checkers!) and other military clips, are stock disaster clips. Storms, fires, destruction. For the sci-fi fan, there are also snippets recycled from earlier sci-fi movies. There are battle scenes cut from War of the Worlds ('53) and The Day the Earth Stood Still ('51).
Cheap Suit -- The aliens walk about in crude robot-like suits with faceless bullet-shaped helmets. The fit and finish of these suits is quite poor when you get a good look at them.
Alien Glimpse -- The brief scene in which the real alien (head) is exposed, reveals the taxonomy that would become archetypal: big head, tapering to a small neck, large almond-shaped eyes, tiny mouth. They're also said to weigh little, being fairly weak and frail. Of the many sorts of invading aliens seen thus far in the 50s, some were simple -- men in leotards Killers from Space, if not just plain people Devil Girl from Mars and Flight to Mars and giant humanoids: The Thing. A very few hostile (or at least frightening) invaders were not humanoid: Invaders from Mars and War of the Worlds. The alien in EvFS appears to be an early showing of what would later become the presumed "true" shape of alien life forms.
Bottom line? EvFS is well worth watching. Fans of 50s sci-fi will enjoy it. Family members of fans of 50s sci-fi can tolerate it. In many ways, it is the epitome of the B grade 50s science fiction movie.

Starring Ray “Crash” Corrigan, Lee Van Atta, C. Montague Shaw, Monte Blue, Lois Wilde, John Merton, William Farnum.
Undersea Kingdom begins with a protracted introduction to our hero, US Navy lieutenant “Crash” Corrigan (Ray Corrigan), in a series of sequences that establish his athletic prowess. After Crash has excelled at football, wrestling, and other strenuous sports, the main plot gets underway when Corrigan is assigned to accompany scientist Professor Norton (C. Montague Shaw) on a submarine expedition to the bottom of the ocean. Norton is convinced that a recent series of earthquakes are emanating from the lost land of Atlantis–which, according to his theory, was not destroyed when it sank to the ocean floor but instead preserved by a protective dome. Norton, Corrigan, newspaper reporter Diana Compton (Lois Wilde), and Norton’s young son Billy (Lee Van Atta) discover the truth of Norton’s theory when their undersea journey brings them to Atlantis–a country that culturally and sartorially resembles Ancient Greece, but possesses technology never seen in the ancient or modern world. There, they find that the Atlantean tyrant Unga Khan (Monte Blue) has been causing the earthquakes, which are mere test runs for his planned conquest of the “surface world” with his arsenal of destructive weapons. Norton is taken prisoner by Khan, who makes the professor his scientific lackey after after technologically brainwashing him, while Crash is captured by Sharad (William Farnum), the high priest of Poseidon and the leader of an Atlantean faction that opposes Unga Khan. Eventually, Crash convinces Sharad that they share a common enemy, and is given command of the high priest’s “White Robe” army. He takes command of Sharad’s campaign against Unga Khan’s “Black Robes,” while Khan assiduously prepares for an invasion of the unsuspecting surface world.
Undersea Kingdom is invariably compared to Universal’s Flash Gordon, which was released two months earlier in 1936; in fact, it’s often cited as a direct imitation of the Universal chapterplay. Given the closeness of the two serials’ release dates, this is unlikely–although Republic did begin producing Kingdom when Universal announced Gordon, no doubt hoping to steal a little of Gordon’s thunder with a sci-fi adventure of their own. Thematically, however, Undersea Kingdom owes more to Phantom Empire, released two years earlier by Republic’s predecessor Mascot, than it does to Flash Gordon. Among the two serials’ points in common are an alien kingdom that is still part of the good old Earth, a child co-hero, and a villainous robot corps. Also like Empire, Kingdom lacks any of the otherworldly atmosphere of Flash Gordon; Atlantis’ locales and inhabitants never come alive the way Mongo’s do. The troubles of Atlantis never becomes involving in their own right; the struggle between Unga Khan and Sharad is a mere backdrop to Khan’s plan to conquer the surface world; (in fact, the final destruction of Sharad’s city is only a side effect of Khan’s attempt to recapture Professor Norton).
However, while Undersea Kingdom is no Flash Gordon, it has much to recommend it. As already mentioned, the writers (John Rathmell, Oliver Drake, Maurice Geraghty, and Tracy Knight) don’t succeed in making Atlantis seem very colorful (although they give the supposedly Greek Atlanteans a wild potpourri of names that hail from Mongolia, ancient Persia, Phoenicia, and many other places), but they keep their plot moving swiftly. The final chapter is unusually exciting, with Unga Khan confidently preparing to blast opposing Navy ships from the ocean as Crash and Norton work frantically to cripple his defenses from within his impregnable tower.
While the serial’s principal outdoor location (Iverson’s Movie Ranch) doesn’t look very otherworldly, both Sharad’s Sacred City (a disguised version of Republic’s Spanish fort, enlarged by some excellent matte work) and Unga Khan’s laboratory are decorated in properly peculiar style, while the serial’s various miniatures (the Atlantean “Volplane,” Norton’s submarine, Khan’s rocket-powered tower) are very well-designed by Howard and Theodore Lydecker. The Juggernaut, a tank-like vehicle that anticipates the Jungle Cruiser in Tim Tyler’s Luck, is similarly impressive, while a squad of robots (called “Volkites” here) will only impress those (like myself) who don’t object to the water- heater-like appearance of the robot in the later Mysterious Doctor Satan; the Volkites are near-duplicates of that automaton.
The serial features few of the fistfights common to Republic’s later serials, but compensates by including some truly unique action sequences, chief among them the large-scale attacks on Sharad’s Sacred City by the Black Robes; these battle scenes are beautifully staged by directors Joseph Kane and B. Reeves Eason (Eason directed many similar sequences in silent and sound “spectacles” like 1925’s Ben-Hur and 1936’s Charge of the Light Brigade). The serial’s smaller-scaled swordfights are also well-handled, as are several chariot chases, Crash’s tightrope-walking escape from Khan’s tower, and the wrestling matches between Crash and various opponents (although his repeated success in overpowering two villains at once somewhat stretches credibility). The serial’s chapter endings are interesting (particularly the ones involving Crash’s fall down an elevator shaft, his apparent crushing by the Juggernaut, and the good guys’ failed escape in the Volplane that ends in their being shot down), but too many of them–including the famed Juggernaut cliffhanger–are resolved by blatant “cheats” in the following chapter.
The serial’s cast is uneven in terms of acting. Ray Corrigan, excellent as a laid-back but determined cowboy hero in Republic’s Three Mesquiteers films, seems slightly uncomfortable as a swashbuckling near-superhero (with a rather embarrassing outfit); he delivers most of his lines hurriedly in rather stone-faced fashion and lacks the dash that helped Buster Crabbe put across the similarly difficult role of Flash Gordon. Monte Blue is also a bit miscast as the warlord Unga Khan. While Blue was good as more prosaic villains like the evil Yellow Weasel in Hawk of the Wilderness, his appearance and voice aren’t “bravura” enough for such a larger-than-life part. He voices Khan’s megalomaniacal ravings in a harsh monotone, with none of the measured staginess someone like Charles Middleton or Bela Lugosi would have given them.
The lovely Lois Wilde has very little to do as the leading lady, but delivers her lines with a breathless enthusiasm almost unparalleled among serial actresses. Lee Van Atta is good as the capable, if somewhat cocky, Billy Norton, in effect the serial’s co-hero. John Merton features prominently as a tough Black Robe soldier named Moloch who switches over to the good guys’ side and provides Crash with loyal support; Merton handles this change-of-pace part with plenty of vigor and conviction. Lon Chaney Jr. is properly snarling and aggressive as Captain Hakur, the leader of Unga Khan’s Black Robe army, while Raymond Hatton–surprisingly cast as a villain–is his second-in-command. Boothe Howard makes a slick aide-de-camp for Monte Blue, and Lane Chandler is William Farnum’s stalwart lieutenant. Farnum himself handles the role of Sharad with his customary dignity and theatricality, glowering angrily over Unga Khan’s aggression and ringingly declaring his faith in Poseidon. The most refined and assured performance in the serial, however, comes from C. Montague Shaw as Professor Norton. Shaw is calm, dignified, and authoritative as the pre-transformation Norton and whining, crafty, and obsequious as the transformed Professor. His evil chuckling when he’s decoyed Crash into a trap is memorable, and his simple but startling transition back to his previous manner when his mind is restored is excellent.
Smiley Burnette and Frankie Marvin, accompanied by a parrot named Sinbad, are the serial’s designated comic relief, but aren’t given anything amusing in the way of material. Fortunately, they make only a few token appearances throughout the serial. A scrutiny of their scenes shows that their characters were inserted in post-production, apparently to pad out a few chapters’ running time; they never interact with any of the other principals and are never referred to by them (except in one obviously-looped scene). Jack Mulhall and Lloyd Whitlock play naval officers in the first and final chapters, and John Bradford overacts wildly as Joe, Norton’s hysterical assistant who goes berserk at the prospect of descending to the ocean depths. George DeNormand doubles for Ray Corrigan in the action scenes and plays various Atlantean guards, along with fellow stuntmen Eddie Parker, Tom Steele, and Bill Yrigoyen.
Undersea Kingdom, while not as slick as later Republics or as colorful as its contemporary Flash Gordon, is a definite step up from Mascot predecessors like Phantom Empire when it comes to production values and smoothness of plotting. The serial belongs to a developmental stage in Republic Pictures’ history, but is no less appealing because of that; while few fans or critics (this author among them) would rate it as one of Republic’s best serials, it usually holds a warm spot in their esteem.

Nikon D7000 with Lens Leica 80-200mm f/4 R mounted with Leitax adapter. Taken hand-held with ISO 800 f/5.6, 1/250s. In order to reduce the minimum focusing distance, I added a Nikon 62mm close-up lens No 5T on a step-up adapter ring 60/62 (the Leica lens has a 60mm filter thread).
It has been a while since I took one of my Leica lenses out for a walk in the forest. I remembered an excellent macro shot of a bee I took with the same set-up. I wanted to test it again and see how crispy the details look under a 100% magnification (actual pixel) of my newly acquired 16 Megapixel camera Nikon D7000.
Under photoshop I enlarged two zones of this picture of a dead tree trunk and the results are amazingly crisp. The DX format of the camera uses only the center of the lens optics therefore making the image very sharp even in the corners/borders. The Leica 80-200mm was already very sharp on FX format starting at aperture f/5.6 and above (vignetting and little soft at f/4). This lens on DX format is sharper at f/4 and eliminates vignetting.
I was thinking of selling it for lack of use due to its manual focus constraint but I think that I should use it more often for these Macro situations where only Manual Focus works anyway. The focus distance of this set-up is about 30cm which is convenient for insects photography.

Lacuna pallidula (da Costa, 1778)
Synonyms: Cochlea pallidula da Costa, 1778; Lacuna neritoidea Gould, 1840; Lacuna patula Thorpe, 1844; Lacuna retusa Brown.
Current taxonomy: WoRMS www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=140168
Vernacular: Pallid chink shell; Pale lacuna; Gwichiad agennog gwelw (Welsh); Lacuna pâle (French); Lavspiret grubesnegl (Danish); Bleke scheefhoren (Dutch); Blek lagunsnäcka (Swedish).
Shell description
The largest dimension of female shells is up to about 12 mm fig. 01 flic.kr/p/2kNQ7pc and males grow to 6 mm. The species has an annual life cycle; all or most adults are dead by June. Their small juvenile offspring occur in summer fig. 02 flic.kr/p/2kGH2G9 , growing to full size in winter. The body whorl forms the great majority of the shell, and the very small spire is sunk below the upper margin in most views. Juveniles are similar in form with a slightly lower spire. Sutures between the whorls are distinct. The smooth surface has no sculpture apart from numerous, growth lines.
One face of the hollow columella is missing, exposing a long wide columellar groove (lacuna, chink or canal), leading to a large funnel-like umbilicus fig. 03 flic.kr/p/2kNL1YB . On some specimens the columellar groove is indistinct and the umbilicus reduced fig. 04 flic.kr/p/2kNPCc9 and fig. 05 flic.kr/p/2oQ83ra .
The very large ‘D’ shape aperture is as high as the whole shell, and it occupies about 75% of the area in apertural-view images fig. 01 flic.kr/p/2kNQ7pc . The palatal lip is semi-circular, and it continues along the abapertural side of the columellar groove. The wide, white columellar lip forms the adapertural edge of the groove fig. 03 flic.kr/p/2kNL1YB .
The ‘D’ shape operculum is a rapidly expanding oligogyrous spiral with its off-centre nucleus close to the base of the columellar lip. It is transparent, tinted yellow fig. 04 flic.kr/p/2kNPCc9 & fig. 06 flic.kr/p/2kNL1Ut or nearly colourless fig. 05 flic.kr/p/2oQ83ra . The substantial periostracum is olive-brown with distinct growth lines on large specimens fig. 07 flic.kr/p/2kNQ773, and it usually extends beyond the lip of the aperture fig. 04 flic.kr/p/2kNPCc9 . Under the periostracum, the calcareous shell is white or yellowish white fig. 01 flic.kr/p/2kNQ7pc . Live adults with a thick opaque periostracum are olive-green/brown in water fig. 08 flic.kr/p/2kNPC3g becoming dull brown when dead and dried fig. 01 flic.kr/p/2kNQ7pc . There are no coloured bands or variegation at any stage.
Body description
The flesh is translucent white with varying amounts of yellow or pink tinting fig. 07 flic.kr/p/2kNQ773 and fig. 05 flic.kr/p/2oQ83ra . The snout is ventrally slit fig.06 flic.kr/p/2kNL1Ut and usually rolled into a cylinder fig. 09 flic.kr/p/2oQ92WM . The extended cephalic tentacles are long, smooth, translucent whitish and taper to a blunt tip. When contracted they wrinkle and any yellow tint is intensified fig. 08 flic.kr/p/2kNPC3g . There is a black eye on a slight bulge at the base of each tentacle fig. 07 flic.kr/p/2kNQ773 . The roof of the mantle cavity is whitish translucent showing the colour of the shell except for the mantle edge which is thick and sometimes yellowish fig. 09 flic.kr/p/2oQ92WM . The foot is white with varying amounts of yellow or pink fig. 07 flic.kr/p/2kNQ773 , especially on the opercular disc which supports, and is visible under and through, the transparent operculum fig. 05 flic.kr/p/2oQ83ra and fig. 09 flic.kr/p/2oQ92WM . The two small, flat metapodial tentacles protrude beyond the posterior of the operculum fig. 09 flic.kr/p/2oQ92WM .

Habits and ecology
L. pallidula feeds on the surface of Fucus serratus (Smith, 1973) and Laminaria (Lebour, 1937) near low water on rocky shores and to 70 metres depth. It is usually absent where turbidity or soft substrate prevents growth of F. serratus. It cannot survive desiccation. Some populations live in the Baltic in salinity down to 12‰.
It moves with a bipedal stepping motion, lifting alternately the right and left sides of the foot. It breeds in late winter and spring, sometimes extending into summer and autumn, with a maximum in February to May in Britain, but precise dates vary regionally. The spawn mass is a low gelatinous dome with an almost circular, oval base (not kidney-shape), diameter 3.9 mm to 5.3 mm (Lebour, 1937), laid on fronds of F. serratus or Laminaria. There are up to about 200 ova per spawn mass fig. 14 flic.kr/p/2kNQ71M . In the low salinity Øresund, Denmark, the masses are smaller with as few as 13 ova (Thorson, 1946 in Fretter & Graham, 1962).
Fretter and Graham (1962) reported confusion with the spawn of “Littorina littoralis” (the name mistakenly used formerly by British authors for an aggregate of Littorina obtusata and L. fabalis). The limited material examined for this account suggests the confusion is with L. fabalis which lives on F. serratus at the same shore level and lays similar, almost circular oval spawn masses, while L. obtusata lives higher up the shore, favouring Ascophyllum, and often lays kidney-shaped spawn masses up to 7 mm long. The difference between the spawn masses of L. fabalis and Lacuna pallidula may be that the latter has a distinctly bevelled peripheral rim while the surface of the former slopes to the substrate without a break in slope fig. 14 flic.kr/p/2kNQ71M . But more investigation is required to test these suggestions; the difference might be due to age of spawn mass. Lacuna parva also has similar spawn but it is found on red algae and is smaller, about 2.5 mm diameter with about 50 ova in Britain fig. 14 flic.kr/p/2kNQ71M ; 2.2 mm to 2.5 mm with 6 to16 ova in the brackish Øresund (Ockelmann & Nielsen, 1981 in Wigham & Graham, 2017).
The individual egg capsules of L. pallidula become angular as they swell and become crowded and compressed. There is no planktonic veliger stage; young emerge as tiny crawling snails. Through a microscope, just before hatching, two tentacular extensions of the opercular disc protruding beyond the operculum may be detected on the embryos within the clear capsules (Fretter & Graham, 1962). Males die after mating, and the females about a month later, so all or most adults breeding in the main period are dead by June or July, and few specimens over 5 mm high can be found in August fig. 02 flic.kr/p/2kGH2G9 . Both sexes grow rapidly until October. From October to February males grow slowly, but females at three times their rate so that by breeding time they are over twice as high as males (Thorson, 1946 in Fretter & Graham, 1962). When mating, the small male rides on the female’s shell near the aperture with his penis inserted into her mantle cavity.
Distribution and status
L. pallidula occurs from northern Norway and Iceland to Atlantic Spain and New England (USA). GBIF map www.gbif.org/species/2301181
It is found all around Britain and Ireland, but is scarce or absent in the north-eastern Irish Sea and southern North Sea where lack of hard substrate and/or turbidity hinder the growth of Fucus serratus and Laminaria. Listen Sin miedo a nada Alex Ubago
¿Cuanto tiempo vamos a esperar?
abrir todas tus puertas
abrir todas tus puertas
vencer esas tormentas que nos quieran abatir,
centrar en tus ojos mi mirada,
cantar contigo al alba
besarnos hasta desgastarnos nuestros labios
y ver en tu rostro cada día
crecer esa semilla

Hi havia tres altars de l’absis principal, i dues absidioles laterals dedicades a Santa Maria a Sant Joan i Sant Miquel.

What I think is super cool is how this therapy is made.
1a. Genetically modify a virus to encode the heavy chain of an anti-Ebola antibody. These antibodies are also genetically modified, btw, to not be as ‘mouse-like’ (they were initially produced in mice) and sometimes to be more ‘human-like’. Putting antibodies from other animals into humans without genetic modification can mean trouble.
1b. Genetically modify a virus to encode the corresponding light chain of the anti-Ebola antibody.
WHY??
When both of these viruses infect a cell, one viral genome will make half the anti-Ebola antibody, the other viral genome will make the other half of the antibody. Together, the two viruses will make the anti-Ebola antibody!
2a. Put these GMO viral components into a bacteria, Agrobacterium tumefaciens.
2b. Infect a plant, like tobacco, with the Agrobacterium tumefaciens.
WHY??
You could just infect the plant with the viruses. So why introduce the bacteria into the equation? Because the viruses kinda suck at replicating in the plants. The bacteria helps get the viral genomes to as many parts of the plant as possible, which means lots and lots of cells in the plant are producing antibodies. This bumps up how much antibody you can purify from a single plant by a LOT.
3a. Infect GMO Nicotiana benthamiana with the bacteria.
3b. Wait.
3c. Purify your anti-Ebola antibodies.
WHY??
Plants are not people. In this case, Nicotiana benthamiana was genetically modified to inhibit the enzymes that make plant sugars plant-like, meaning the anti-Ebola antibodies will have more human-like sugars on the surface. This can be really important for some of the anti-viral properties of the antibodies.
After this genetic modification and infection with the bacteria+viruses, the plant leaves will produce a TON of anti-Ebola antibodies. Plants are a pretty cheap way to produce a lot of protein. Blow up the plant cells, purify your protein, and BAM!
A ton of anti-Ebola antibodies.
Do that with three different anti-Ebola antibodies, mix the antibodies together for an anti-Ebola cocktail, give them to people to see if it helps.
And indeed, if this therapy does prove to play an integral role in ‘saving’ these two US Ebola patients, we probably have a fairly cheap, readily up-scalable and modifiable way to treat the current Ebola epidemic.
GMO viruses + bacteria + GMO tobacco.
Not top secret.

First Payments for Children Who Died in 1996 Meningitis Drug Trial).
Foto vía Judy Stone – Scientif American – Ebola and Priorities in Drug Development

I really love this song.....and it can be interpretated many ways.
For myself, I find that I am my own worst enemy. I have a hard time forgiving myself of things in my past....or even though I may have forgiven somebody else for things done to me....there is a scar that remains. Sometimes I feel like the"old" me has a grip on the "present" me...and I just want her to LET GO, so that I don't lost myself.
"Let Go" - RED
Hey you, look what you do to me
You bend and you bruise me
Why you try to control me?
But you don't know me
How come you just want to hurt me?
How come you just want to push me?
I can't ignore you anymore
Cause everywhere I turn you
You burn me, you break me
You always want to take me down with you
What do you want from me?
I don't wanna be afraid, I don't wanna run away
I don't want to be here fading it's more that I can take
I'm never gonna be the same
I threw it all away
I don't want to be here fading
Just let go! (look what you do to me)
Let go! (look what you do to me)
Hey you, look what you do to me
You burnt and you scared me
With all that you tell me (but I don't listen!)
You love me, you hate me
You always want to take me down with you
What do you want from me?
I don't wanna be afraid I don't wanna run away
I don't want to be here fading it's more that I can take
I'm never gonna be the same
I threw it all away
I don't want to be here fading
Just let
You kept pushing me
You keep using me
You keep twisting me
You keep breaking me
You can't have me anymore [x3]
You can't have me, let go!
I don't wanna be afraid, I don't wanna run away
I don't want to be here fading it's more that I can take
I'm never gonna be the same
I threw it all away
I don't want to be here fading
Just let go! Let go! Just let go!
I don't wanna be afraid
Let go! (I don't wanna run away!)
Just let go! Let go! Let go!
