This is at stockings sister party photos

This all looks incredibly small and insignificant as it sits in the middle of the field. But this is exactly what I find so appealing when creating the scenes. And the final images never cease to amaze me when the completed photos are downloaded.

Yes, there is still magic in the world.

Here is the completed photo:

Another "spiral staircase in a lighthouse" photo, everybody's got one :)

This was a nice change from the typical metal staircase, I've gotta respect the art that goes into building something as pretty as this and getting it perfect.

We cobbled together some of Mrs M's vacation and comp times and made a LONG weekend around Valentine's Day. San Diego had always been too far to drive but we got very reasonable flights and a rental car with unlimited miles and there we went.

And.....this is the photo I took in the light box. I did adjust the color a little in photoshop. I made the whites whiter and the blacks blacker. Sometimes I will blur the joints a little just to make them look softer. I like the way the joints look so I wouldnt get rid of them completely but sometimes just looking a little softer is nice. I didnt do that with this one. I also usually fix stray hairs and fly aways in photoshop.

Id definately consider myself a beginner and what I do anyone can do. Anyone can adjust levels in photoshop and blur or smudge a few hairs. And anyone can make a light box out of a old cardboard box and some tissue paper and take photos with a point and shoot camera.

I wanna start this by saying that trying to do doll photography with an 8 month preggo belly is extremely difficult. But I also really wanted to take a picture of my U-noa Elder/Mnf M-line hybrid on this absolutely perfect day.

After seeing Rio099's photoshoot of her MNF with her camera.. I finally decided to commit to purchasing the little nikon from ebay, and I love it so much!! It's such a perfect scale.

There is something about photos of dolls taking pictures that I love so much.

I wish I could have got a better, more dynamic picture than this.. but this is really the best I can do under the circumstances. Which is fine.. because I just wanted to give this girl a little love. I really heart her.

“Hello Bertie, it looks like it is group photo time again. The man has set his photo thingy up on that three-legged thing again.”

“It does look that way Posh, I was sure he had given it up as a lost cause after last time.”

“Sorry chaps but I think that may have been my fault.” Said Sky smiling happily.

“Why do you think that Sky?”

“Well Bertie, you see I had a word with our friend LIM and was told about a special thing that could be jumped upon and when connected to the photo thingy, one got an image. So next time I saw he had left it all set up I decided to give it a go so I climbed up very high and then jumped down and landed on this button thing and it took a picture. A very nice picture too.”

“Well done Sky, what did your picture show?”

“A whiteish wall, but I know when the man saw it, he was so impressed and kept looking at it and scratching his head. I think he was confused as to how my picture was so much better than the normal rubbish he takes.”

“I see where this is leading now Sky, you think he is taking this picture to see if he can get any better than his normal standard?”

“That is right Posh, so I suppose all this is my fault. I shouldn’t worry though for I’m certain he’ll soon realise that he has no chance of being as good as me, after all he can’t jump downwards from as high as I did for a start.”

“Quite right Sky, although it might be amusing to see him try. Never mind, we’ll just have to smile and at least give him a little hope, even if it is dashed at the end.” Said Posh.

“Sky, you really shouldn’t stick your tongue out like that when he presses that button thing. One of these days he’ll catch you doing it.”

“That’ll be the day. Smile everyone and let’s get this over and done with then it’s all round to see Posh and have some of his honey.” Said Sky grinning.

This painting is in response to Bilbov's latest photo challenge and is based on his lovely photo. This is done using the negative painting method which I so enjoy doing. Thanks so much Bill, for this delightful subject.

I was just looking at the top couple of pages in my photostream, and I realized that I have not posted any really corny, cliche', overdone photos in quite some time. So, I figured I was about due for one. Here it is. It's a butterfly. I shot this one down at Havasu Falls. I always enjoy looking back through my Havasu Falls photos. That was three of the BEST photography days of my entire life. I've still got about 50 photos to post from down there.

I think that being dressed as a bride is the ultimate feminine experience. I so love it and Jane is so helpful with all these photos. So if i Inundate you with these pics I apologise but this was a large part of the shoot.

Please join us June 26th for the opening of my new photo show at Tappo Wine Bar. I’m really excited about this show; one of the prints is printed on 1/4 inch acrylic 28 x 32. It is also one of my favourites.

Weather permitting, the patio should be open with live music. I will be celebrating my 51st that night as well.

My friend Ali is doing a photoshoot of our friend Bader!

Another doll from the Superstar era I vividly remember wanting as a child but never got … It was 1978 and I first saw her in all places in a dusty, smoky old ‘Newsagent’ (Kinda like an all-purpose store where books, magazines, stationery, cards and newspapers are sold among other trinkets… usually much bigger and more permanent than those American ‘Newsstands’…) My parents were already buying me dolls as they were very liberal about that sort of thing, but they considered Barbie just too expensive, so it was clones for me all the way, and the occasional UK Sindy for presents, as they saw her as better value than Barbie at the time. “But Mum, LOOK! She MOVES!!!’ I cried as I tried to justify her cost… She promised maybe for Christmas. Alas, by the time I made my own pocket money and could afford her on my own a year or so later, she was already gone from the toy store shelves, as they didn’t last long down here in Australia back then. (I bought a Pretty Changes Barbie instead.) So FORTY years later, I finally got her!!! Even though I can see why she didn’t last long (assembling the stand and camera is very clunky and she is prone to falling off her stand sometimes … also that gimmick of her rather limited movement would have bored a kid not long after they got her,) I love her! Her facial screening is actually quite different from the regular Superstars, with heavily blue-lined eyes that are much larger, and with darker, more pronounced eyebrows… and of course she has a very groovy centre part as opposed to Superstar’s side part and has more ‘reddish’ streaks in her hair… I softly waved it a bit and brushed it out for the bottom-left pic and it looks strangely modern now! I also love the gold and ‘ruby’ red jewellery she had instead of Superstar’s ‘diamonds’.

This was the beginning of the era of interchangeable items included with the doll to create a variety of outfits, and Fashion Photo’s is one of the most dramatic, IMO. She also came with some pre-printed ‘photos’ that you can make pop out of the camera like those old polaroid cameras, so those were the inspiration for this shoot. I also used a ‘wind machine’ for the first time in some of these pics which mimicked the style of late 70’s fashion photography and was so fun… will be using that again! It was also a return to Barbie’s original ‘career’;- that of a ‘Teenage Fashion Model’ so I think she is a must-have in any collection. I can’t wait to dress her up in some Studio54-ready outfits!

I am having my first photo exhibition in a small gallery in East London and would be happy if you could come either to the opening (29 March at 7pm) or on one of the Sundays in April between 11am and 2 pm.

I was focusing on the Carolina Wren when the White Throated Sparrow came through. But I actually never Saw the sparrow until I downloaded the photos. In fact, I thought I missed the Wren all together because I saw it fly just as I snapped. :) I see more birds in the winter than in the summer! Anita and I are off wandering today and the biggest decision we have to make this morning is to turn left, or right out of my driveway! Have a Brilliant day everyone! 😎

Theme photos of my son Ali who seams to have a huge interest in photography.. and electronics.. Now from where he got that !! ;P

Gonna hang them in my living room.. Enjoy
