Hit of the day: Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight

Featuring Seniha Originals' Aitana set at ACCESS.

Another early morning shot of a Ferrari in the Goodwood Paddock, this time of 246 Dino owned and raced by Tony Smith (manager of Genesis, Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks, and co-manager of Pink Floyd).

This particular car (chassis 0007) was owned by Neil Corner who bought the car back in 1978 but suffered a horrendous crash at Goodwood in 2000 when he was thrown from the car after a collision on the start/finish straight. There is a photo and video clip of the accident (link here) for those curious to witness what can only be described as an accurate portrayal of a period crash - one that luckily Neil managed to bounce back from (after a two week stay in hospital). The car was rebuily and sold on to Tony Smith.

Then car itself is one of only two original 1960 Ferrari 246 Dino's to exist (the cars from 1957 to 1959 are believed to no longer survive). Chassis 0007 was driven by Phil Hill in the 1960 Italian GP, winning the race. The car was subsequently renumbered as chassis 'F 0788' and reworked in New Zealand into a 'GTO' before being retrieved by Neil Corner in 1978 and then restored by Crosthwaite & Gardiner with its original body panels.

Let me tell you the story of Luna...

I returned from a layoff of SL in December of 2022 looking to refresh things after being away. One of my favorite haunts had a number of people and when I saw Luna's profile, it instantly drew me in. Her avatar was lovely, not over-done or out there with wild looks. Realistic and well put together was the vibe I saw and we chatted about many things, including looks of avatars and she had a profound desire to make SL a more beautiful place, one avatar at a time.

She spent a short but amazingly productive time with me with my avatar shape and look. When I mean amazing, it was a look I was asking for in less than 30 minutes. Using a RL photo for facial reference and then proportional guides to ensure my body was not oddly out of whack, I had a new look overnight that continues to be my androgynous look with only a few modest changes.

We became good friends quickly, chatting and hanging out at music venues, meeting some of her circle, and her meeting some of mine. She has faced some amazing challenges in RL and used SL to overcome some and find the courage to go into RL, face down her demons and tackle them. Some folks in SL and RL have helped her and her story, amazing as it is, is hers and if she tells it, you'll be riveted as I was.

Her humor, and intelligence is off the charts, a musical devotee and one of the most genuine people you may have the luck to meet. Luna embraces this level-headed spirit that tried to talk me away from the people who will use you, abuse you and take advantage of you. She always warned me to be wary of people and these words she shared today ring so true, I wonder how many people I've meet can actually stand with or against this: "nothing is worth anything in SL except actual human compassion and you don't get that from many folks who've spent years putting together an image and community". It may seem a bit jaded, yet, it's so clearly true. Or as I like to say 'being popular in SL is like being the crayon eating champion in 3rd grade'.

The time we spent lasted a few months, with daily visits and "How you" coming from one to the other. Yet, Luna had to leave and face RL for a while, no timing on when she'd return and she left early in the summer. I've seen her 2 times since then for short visits filled with smiles and reconnecting. She said she wanted a pic so here is my lovely friend, testing the water, seeing how it feels, but not diving in just yet. Because we've said Hello and Goodbye more than a few times now, this song feels so right with these words for my beautiful friend Luna:

Trying some more abstract. Believe it or not, this type of painting is very hard for me to paint. You probably don't notice this from my photography but I'm somewhat of a control freak and definitely a perfectionist. lol!

To paint something so chaotic and "out of the line" makes me a little crazy. And it's hard. And when I'm done I don't really like it. I WANT to like it so much. But...it just looks messy to me. The funny thing is, when other people paint like this, I see all kinds of cool images in the painting and I love it and I envy their talent at being able to make chaos look so good.

Also, This woman ----> www.flickr.com/photos/artsyt/ is the one who inspired me to step outside of my "control freak" box! I love her art work. She puts so much energy and style and beautiful chaos into it that I admire so much. So thank you Tina! I look forward to collaborating with you on a project one day. XO

I debated on showing the before raw but I did so much manual digital painting. So I decided I would. I think it's cool how much I put into this image after I finished. SL borked the facial graphics for some reason...not sure why!! It looked nothing like this in SL. So I challenged myself and still used it and repainted pretty much the whole facial aspect. I am very pleased with the final output:

Do you all remember the village Christmas Dinner and Dance held in the church hall www.flickr.com/photos/137633664@N05/49221704876/in/datepo... where the guest speaker failed in her attempt to conceal what turned out to be a very harmonious botty cough.😱💨💨

Therefore the ladies of the WI felt that as this botty cough had been such a roaring success, it was an area that could be expanded upon.

So at their first committee meeting of 2020 the ladies voted unanimously to hold a botty coughing competition to raise funds for their annual bus trip.💷🚌

You don’t get this type of up to the minute coverage from Sky news😇

Without further ado the competition had been organised and would be held on the green outside of the church hall, just in case.😉⛪️

It was agreed there would be two categories, some would botty cough up the scale for a shield and a barrel of ale. Whilst others who are biggest and strongest, would compete in the section for loudest and longest.🍺🍺🍺

The judging panel were brought in from another parish so there would be imfartiality.👨‍⚖️👨‍⚖️👩‍⚖️👩‍⚖️

So the ladies lined up at the start, and winning the toss Mrs Bolitha took first botty cough, the crowd stood in silence and wonder as the radio announced gale warnings and thunder.📻⛈💨⚡️⚡️

Then Mrs Rosewarne was called to the front and started by doing a wonderful stunt, she took a deep breath and clenching her hands (that had you) she blew the roof off one of the stands.💨

This left Mrs Trebillcock who shyly appeared, she smiled at Hoof and Horace who cheekily Cheered.🐎🐷🍻

The committee thought her chances were small, however she let go a winner out botty coughing them all.💨💨💨

With hands on her hips she stood botty coughing alone, the crowd were amazed at the sweetness of tone.

The judges agreed without hesitance or pause and said first Mrs Trebillcock, now pull up your socks.👵

However with muscles still tensed and legs apart, she let go one final and glorious botty cough.

Beginning with Madonna and ending with Céline Dion, she went right up the scale to ‘My Heart will Go On’.🎤🎺🎸🎼

Mrs Trebillcock went to the rostrum with her Jack Russell pup and received from the judges a shiny gold cup, she then turned to Horace with sweetness sublime and smiling said come up and see me sometime.💃🏆🐶😘🐷
