THE SUN WAS ACTUALLY BLOOD RED ON THIS DAY....LIKE A GIANT TOMATO IN THE SKY. HOWEVER, EVEN THROUGH EDITING, IT IN NO WAY RESEMBLES HOW IT ACTUALLY APPEARED. THIS ATMOSPHERIC CONDITION WAS ALL BROUGHT ON BY THE HEAVY SMOKE FROM THE "CAMP" FIRE IN PARADISE, CA

THIIS FIRE HAS BEEN VERY TRAGIC IN SO MANY WAYS. I FEEL SO SORRY FOR THE LOVED ONES OF THIOSE WHO PERISHED...OVER 75 CONFIRMED DEAD AND 1000 OR SO STILL UNACCOUNTED FOR. HOPEFULLY SOME OF THE MISSING HAVE SIMPLY LEFT TOWN. MOST OF THE SURVIVORS HAVE ALSO LOST THEIR HOMES (7600 HOMES) , THEIR BUSINESSES AND ALL OF THEIR WORDLY POSESSIONS. IN TOTAL 10,300 STRUCTURES (INCLUDING HOMES) HAVE BEEN DESTROYED, IT IS THE LARGEST AND MOST DISASTROUS FIRE IN CALIFORNIA'S HISTORY.

I ALSO, OF COURSE, FEEL SO SAD FOR ALL OF THE ANIMALS WHO HAVE PERISHED.

MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE BEEN THERE A COUPLE OF TIMES AND LOVED THIS QUAINT COMMUNITY NESTLED IN THE WOODS. IT IS ABOUT A 2 HOUR DRIVE FROM WHERE WE LIVE. IT WAS THE HOME OF SO MANY ELDERLY PEOPLE TOO WHO WERE SPENDING THEIR GOLDEN YEARS HERE IN PEACE AND HAPPINESS. SO VERY SAD :

PRAYING FOR ALL WHO HAVE SURVIVED AND WILL BE DISPLACED FOR A LONG TIME. GOD BLESS OUR BRAVE FIREFIGHTERS :))

The senseless act and all those innocent lives that were perish,

after so many years I still remember where I was,

my first though was about my sons,

John was a survivor of the apocalypse, but his heart was heavy with the weight of the tragedy that had befallen the world. He had lost everything he had ever known and loved in the blink of an eye, and was left to wander the ruins of Necropolis alone. The once-bustling city was now a barren wasteland, with crumbling buildings and piles of rubble serving as the only reminders of the world that once was. John had lost count of how many times he had been close to death, whether from starvation or from the mutated creatures that roamed the ruins. But what weighed on John the most were the memories of his family, who had perished in the nuclear blast that had brought the world to its knees. He had been out of town when it happened, and had returned to find nothing but devastation and death. He searched for days, hoping against hope to find some sign of his wife and children, but found only piles of bodies and bones scattered throughout the city. John's heart was broken, and he often found himself weeping uncontrollably as he lay huddled in his makeshift shelter. He wondered why he had been spared when so many others had perished, and why he had to bear the burden of such immense loss. But despite the pain that consumed him, John knew that he had to keep going. He had to keep fighting to stay alive, if only to honor the memory of those he had lost. And so he trudged on, through the ruins of Necropolis, with the weight of his sorrow heavy upon his shoulders.

Admiring the Angel Oak tree located in Charleston, SC. For sure this tree has huge lungs!!

Lately it has been raining quite a lot for summertime. The first roses to bloom have been extensively battered by the rain, bringing them to perish just in a few days. Grabbing my chances, I decided to head out on a rainy evening and put to use a cover purchased months ago. While it turned out not to be ideal as the plastic is quite thick impeding the access to the ring for manual focus, it definitely managed to protect the camera from the rain and I was able to get some shots even in adverse conditions.

This poor chick had perished in the nest box during a cold night and the parent has tried to remove it and got it's head wedged in the hole. The parents were bringing in food but would not enter the box so I intervened and removed it. I am pleased to say that normal service has resumed and the parents are back feeding the chicks again, Phew! that was a close call.

Pohutukawa, with its striking red flowers, is an important symbol for all New Zealanders. In Maori mythology, its flowers are said to represent the blood of a young warrior who perished while trying to avenge his father’s death. The Maori also used the flowering of Pohutukawa trees as a seasonal indicator, and when Christian settlers arrived in New Zealand, the blossoming of this species’ bright red flowers in December and January inspired its alternative common name of the New Zealand Christmas tree. While chopping down a huge Laurel bush/tree in the corner of my garden, to make way for decking, I came across the children’s old basketball. Been hidden in the corner for over 8 years and is weathered and perished, an ideal candidate for this week’s theme of texture. Happy Macro Mondays.
