Sri Lanka today celebrates peace after the end of an ethnic conflict that tore the country apart for over 30yrs....we celebrate the victory grandly....I've depicted a white dove...symbol of peace bt it's black spots are a reminder to everyone that the peace we so richly enjoy is tainted by the blood of thousands who lost their lives....therefore let us be humble in victory over the terror & keep those dearly departed in mind....our prayers should be with them.
Here's to a peaceful Sri Lanka!
i love shooting flowers. i know it often looks like the same photo is here over and over, but there is something about the act of shooting flowers and grass that leaves me with an absolute feeling of peace. so i will keep doing it.
you have to look past the first glance to see, every day, the difference in the flowers. you can look out in your garden and see the same daisies or black eyed susans staring at you but if you go and really, really inspect them, you will notice how much they change. and then you will begin to notice all the intricate little things about them you don't see when you are standing back from them. the patterns, the tiny little bugs living inside them, the different shapes and tones and the way they petals turn toward the sun or the delicate bristles around the stems.
they're kind of like people. you know?

One of four lions at the gates of Saltaire School (as was) in Shipley, West Yorkshire. He's called Peace but his companions are Determination, Vigilance and War.
Sculpted by T MIlnes c.1870 as part of Sir Titus Salt's model village for his mill workers on the banks of the River Aire outside Bradford. The whole structure is Grade II* listed and the village centre is a World Heritage site.
