Before being able to turn on the third monitor, I wanted to get a sense of how it would feel to sit in front of all 3 of their warm, glowing rectangles. At this point, I sense not yet the power of 3 monitors, but the void in my heart, and cone of vision, thanks to the presence of a whole display unlit in my periphery.
This is the GRUB boot list. I have an awful lot of old Ubuntu release entries. The bottom choice, 2 screens down is Windows XP - the only OS that works at this point on this machine, so I booted into that.
Another random configuration - just pushing the monitors around, lighting the desk underneath with the desk lamp. I don't know when I'd do this, but the point is I can reconfigure things to a lot of different setups in a minute or two.
It's subtle, but the new screen is a refurbished version of the other two, and sits in the middle here. You can just barely make out that its backlighting is a bit blotchy in this 'tween-screen blackness, in the upper left, and lower right corners. I'm considering the $20 for 2 years of full protection, just in case it decides to die.
