Abbazia di San Colombano (Bobbio, PC).

A sinistra c'è il sepolcro di S. Attila, secondo abate di Bobbio. Il sarcofago denota un'arte irlandese e risale all'alto medioevo, presenta due motivi circolari concentrici per parte, annodati da ulteriori motivi a intreccio, mirabilmente scolpiti. [ndr, la transenna è del IX sec; sotto affreschi del XV];

On Friday, July 23rd, eighty five volunteers from the U.S. Peace Corps participated in a swearing-in ceremony which took place in the town of Vratsa. This was the 26th group of Peace Corps in Bulgaria that pledged to strengthen the friendship and foster the understanding between the American and the Bulgarian people. For the next two years, these new Peace Corps Volunteers will be living in about 80 towns or villages all over Bulgaria and will be working at the grassroots level, partnering with various organizations. Some of them will help teach English in primary and secondary schools; others will collaborate with municipalities, social institutions, youth organizations and cultural centers to encourage partnership, creativity and skills transfer. Ambassador Warlick who attended the event addressed the PCV with the words: “Each of you has a unique opportunity to partner and make a real difference in the lives of your Bulgarian communities and in so doing to make a difference in the future of this country and this world.” The event was attended also by the families with which each of those eighty four PC volunteers had stayed during their training ten-week period. The host “fathers” and “mothers” were as equally moved to see their “children” getting ready to start work in Bulgaria on their own. Emil Dimitrov’s unforgettable song “My country, my Bulgaria” sung by the PCV Charity Wright put a touching ending to this memorable event.

Duomo di Bobbio (PC), noto anche come Concattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta. Cappella di S. Giovanni (poco oltre il transetto).

Contiene affreschi recentemente ritrovati e restaurati.
