le Retable d’Issenheim est l’une des œuvres les plus admirées du musée. Ce polyptique composé de panneaux peints et d’une caisse sculptée présente des épisodes de la vie du Christ et de saint Antoine.
Par sa structure, le retable entre dans la
catégorie des polyptiques à doubles
volets. Il est donc conçu pour permettre
trois présentations, vraisemblablement
déterminées par le calendrier liturgique.
Retable fermé
Le retable fermé offre une vision terrifiante
de la Crucifixion emplie de douleur,
encadrée des panneaux des deux saints
invoqués contre les épidémies: saint
Antoine et saint Sébastien, prié contre la
peste. Sous la scène centrale, la prédelle.
représente la Mise au tombeau.
Présentation intermédiaire (Première
ouverture)
La première ouverture du retable s’ouvre
sur les panneaux lumineux de
l’Annonciation, du Concert des Anges, de la
Nativité et de la Résurrection, qui
expriment tous des symboles de joie et d’espoir.
La prédelle donne à voir le Christ et les apôtres symbolisant la Cène.
Retable ouvert (Deuxième ouverture)
L’ouverture complète du retable offre au regard la sculpture magistrale du saint
patron de la commanderie, trônant entre saint Augustin et saint Jérôme. Elle est entourée
des panneaux peints de L’Agression
de saint Antoine et de La visite de saint
Antoine à saint Paul. Dans la prédelle, le
Christ au milieu des apôtres est représenté en Sauveur du monde.

Oke so i did a post already a couple days ago... and wierd enough my bf fixed it... but it was only for 1 day lol so my pc is again getting wayyy to hot when im on sl and all i see is glitches :( it gets over the 100 celcius when im on secondlife... thats way to hot and i dont wanne fuck up my whole pc so untill im having a new graphics card i wont be around.. sorry :(
